evotell
Anybody have any idea where I can obtain an LSD for the Ford Sierra diff, what sort of money do they usually cost?

Mavic82
Terry, Depends on the type of 'LSD' you are after, well discussed elsewhere on this forum. Option include the Quaiffe torque bussing diff to the Titan LSD. For info I have the former. Price range varies from between 700-1200 GbP Cheers Guy
NoLimits
Gripper also works well. Made in Coventry
7 wonders of the world
Tran-X and 3J also offer plate LSD with a range of ramp and preload settings making them suitable for a 7. Steve @ SPC can sort these for you and build it into a genuinely quiet Sierra final drive. SPC
Delbert
What about a cosworth LSD? Sierra cosworth diff I have transported a few around for Seveners , not sure what spec you would need
Mavic82
You can't use the cosworth diff it is a larger unit. 7.5 crown wheel where as the standard Sierra diff is 7". You can get ford 7" LSD units but the unit is not suited to a light weight sports car.
myothercarsa2cv
If I remember correctly there was a US spec car that used the same differential... So you might be able to pick something suitable up closer to home. Otherwise postage may sting somewhat. However, if you had a new diff made up, it would be VAT free, and then you may or may not pay duty when it arrives (a lot of the mountain bikers ordering bits from Europe seem to get charged less than half of the time ). I'm pretty sure any of the guys listed above will have experience of shipping abroad, so give them a call
Nigel Fox
Tran x are unfortunately no longer with us. I still have one of their excellent LSDs however.
Mavic82
I think you may referring to the Merkur XR4Ti? Not 100 percent sure but I think that May also be a 7.5 " diff.
Mankee
Quoting Nigel Fox: Tran x are unfortunately no longer with us. I still have one of their excellent LSDs however. Quaife acquired Tran-X and all their intellectual knowledge, tools etc. back in 2012, so the diffs and other parts are still available. I have a ZF and it is set up for a big heavy saloon car at the moment, which means that it is rubbish in a 500-kg Caterham. :(
elie boone
3J are ex Tran X employees
Paul Deslandes
Depending on what usage you put your car to, you might find a second hand AP Suretrac as fitted to 7s in the 90s. They are very effective but are limited in the amount of torque they can handle and were fitted as factory fit to 175bhp Vauxhall 7s, HPCs etc. For this reason, numbers of owners switched to stronger Quaiffe, Titan or, if they could find one, ZF, when they upgraded their engine power, so you might find one sitting under a bench somewhere. Phil Stuart at Road and Race sometimes knows where to get good/refurbished used units. Also see Angus's great article for further info.
