  1. Does anyone have a ball park time to remove & refit the Sigma engine and secondly would it be best done just removing the motor and not the transmission? Terry
  2. Thanks Mike, I will pass on you info to my client, so he can make a decision. Regards Terry
  3. Would someone please be kind enough to pass on any information they may have on in-board front dampers. We have a customer with an SV Hayabusa that is keen to do this mod; I have done a search but found nothing. Cheers Terry

    Dash lights

This has got to be the only car I have ever seen that doesn’t have all its instruments light up when the side/head lamps are on. Like has been said farting around in the dark trying to locate the switch is madness. I can’t see the advantage, are Caterham saving on bulbs and wire! http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/omg_smile.png

    Dash lights

It seems that many people have a different story. My feeling is that they should all light up when the side lights are on and also light up when they are being used with the side ligths off.
  7. Has anybody installed this option, I'd be very interested to know the results.

    Dash lights

Our 1.4 SS with the standard dash rocker switches appear to have light issues. When the switch is turned on it lights up, however when the switch is off and the side/head lamps are turned on only 2 of the switches light up. Are there 2 bulbs in each switch? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Does anybody have any pictures of a 1.4 with the rear exit exhaust or know of a used one lying around. Cant see any thing on CC website other than for the French model.
  11. Has anybody modified the exhaust of a K-Series from a side exit to a rear exit? I see that Caterham list a part, is this the correct one and what is entailed in doing the mod? here

    K Series Oil

What is the most common oil spec for the 1.4 K series?

    Relay

The Supersport we have has the indicator replay 2nd up from the bottom, however the 2008 RS is third up from the bottom. When I put the flasher unit from the SS into the RS it make a loud screeching noise when you turn the indicators on. 😳 I hate wiring.

    Tonneau

Just had the local trim shop to 2 good mods on the tonneau. As you know the head rest can be a major pain to get out. We cut a slot from the back of the cover to the head rest and then stitched a small flap on it with Velcro. Tonneau cover goes on head rest stays in place. Another mod we did was cut a slot in the side of the tonneau in order that the arm rest can tuck through the tonneau so I can have the passengers side tonneau on and the doors. If its parked in the rain just leave the door open as we stitched a flap over the slot so the rain doesn't get in. 😬
  18. Quoting SBD762: I am ashamed to say, I have no idea what diff I have. Car is a 2007 K series 1.6 Roadsport. However in the two years I've owned it, the "clonking" had been in existence on overrun and acceleration. And it's noisy! I too have put it down to the nature of the car. Bloody annoying! But part if the experience of a Caterham. On occasions I can quieten it down by very controlled, precisely timed and managed gear changes with very careful (smooth) acceleration ....... But why would I want to do that all the time, I just drive it progressively and let the noise carry on annoying me! Apology for not being much help to the original post, but I am guessing this is a characteristic of the Caterham 7? I would like to suggest that your problem is common but NOT normal. As a Used Caterham Dealer we have had many Caterhams go through our hands and the majority have completely silent diffs, NO NOISE AT ALL. I suggest you take it out and get it to Phil at Road & Race transmissions and get Phil to sort it.
  19. I will report back with what I find
  20. I had an interesting conversation yesterday with Phil at Road & Race Transmissions. As many people know Phil has had a load of experience with the Caterham diff. I explained the issue we have with clonking in BMW dif. Phil indicated that on several occasions they have found that its the drive shaft not resentering itself due to the spring in the CV being dislodged, this then has all sorts of ramifications including a clonk on lift off. I checked both DS and sure enough the left hand side shaft hardly moves compared with the right side. Next project is to remove the rubber gaiter and see what's going on. Phil indicated that on several occasions once this problem was rectified the clonking went away. Fingers crossed.

    Not again

Hi James The car in question is a 1.4 K Series, no LSD. I wondering if fitting an LSD with the uprated washers will sort the problem, however as previously said the SV Sigma we have just built had a silent diff, so it must be possible to sort this issue.

    Not again

Yes, I know we have talked about it every way including sideways. We are talking the BMW diif out of our SS and getting Road & Race Transmission to try and sort the clonking and back lash issues out. Has anybody had this done and what was the outcome? It must be able to be sorted, the BMW diff in SV Sigma we have just built was absolutely silent, nothing no noise whatsoever 😬
