  1. I think most people understand that shortages exist, however in my opinion sending out kits known to have parts missing is unacceptable. 😳
  2. Quoting TheTourist: Hi If you would like one made, drop me a PM and we can go through the options. Edited by - TheTourist on 30 Sep 2013 17:31:14 Does the options list have a quick release Mono Steering wheel 😬
  3. Quoting Roadracer1977: Quoting evotell: His answer that these problems are being caused by a a change in structure at CTI is BS, 😳 these problems have been around long before CTI ever existed. What will the next excuse be. The fact that CTi are now involved isn't what he said was the fundamental of the problem - he said they are there now to help streamline these processes, supply chain, parts ordering and so on.... Thanks for clearing that up. I for one would be far more tolerate of shortages, if the response from CC was appropriate, (Derek & Darren excluded) their continual mis handling of the many stories we hear on BC only convinces me more that a consultation is required.
  4. Quoting OliW: Quoting James.S: It is not fair to compare them to a mainline supplier. My last issue was for rear 13" rims i wanted 4, no stock and minimum order to KN wheels was 50. Thats a lot of stock for a small company to hold. Certain things the club does doesn't help either, bulk buys, recommendations away from CC - in no way assists a small manufacturer - love or loathe CC, if we lose them we will all be poorer. In my view it is fair, because Caterham charge a premium for their product and market themselves as being a premium brand. Being a small company does not mean you can be inadequate in certain parts of your business. They ought to hold more stock than they do - it is clear that there is more demand for parts than they can cope with and their stock would not become obsolete if it was sat around for a short period. The club's activities are irrelevant. Market forces dictate whether people go to Caterham. It's for Caterham to attract people to buy. And most bulk buys etc are not for products that CC sell. Oli Agreed 😬

  6. One of the elements of Leadership is taking initiative, so rather than wait for CC to get the ball rolling (they probably wont) why don't we as a club invite them to a consultation to discus some of the issues that our members are experiencing? In the end complaining to each other wont change a thing, surely the correct way forward to set up dialog with CC. Edited by - evotell on 11 Apr 2014 04:49:45
  7. If CC are serious about customer feedback I suggest they invite a delegation from the club. Having been a CC customer for the past 40 years I wouldn't hold my breath
  8. How CC recently won a Business Award in mesmerizing unless it was awarded by Monty Python
  9. Quoting Mark W: temporary solution ? There's nothing as permanant as a temporary measure
  10. The problem at Caterham seems to be part of the companies DNA, as it doesn't appear to matter who owns the company, the problems with shortages and curt customer service don't go away. In saying that my experience with Derek & Darren are top notch. At the international dealers meeting in 2012 one of the European Dealers of 30 years standing was complaining bitterly about warranty parts and shortages, the conversation became very heated and the guy was told by management that: "If he didn't like she should leave" This comment caused a **** storm. Like many people I love the car, but the company has a long way to go if it’s going to live up to TF hype. In the end fixing these problems that have existed for the past 20+ years isn't rocket science. 😳 and its mesmerising why it continues. In my opinion CC would be better not to send any car out without al parts present. In the end all they do is tell the customer, "we have a one year waiting list sir" then maybe when they have 60 incomplete cars sitting at Dartford and have run out of space they might get the message, it appears that once the car has left the premises, it’s on to the next one and Derek is left holding the baby. It’s a joke, yet most people aren't laughing 😳
  11. You are quite correct Busa chassis is built at Arch. As I understand it metric was post 97
  12. The real critical issue is getting the motor as hot as possible and getting the revs up in order to bed the rings in. Most of the bearings are run in almost instantly, but the rings MUST be made to work at high temp to get them sealed correctly. As previously mentioned Millers Oil is good stuff.
  13. Get the oil warm 😬 😬

    Rover spares

Quoting Barbarossa.: If the cam belt fails, you won't be able to fix it just by fitting a new one! Thanks for the SUPER helpful post. 😬 What sort of sensors are you referring to?

    Rover spares

Quoting SM25T: I have just bought spares of all sensors from eBay for our big tours. What did they include?

    Rover spares

Any suggestion on what sort of spares should be carried on a 1.4 SS. So far I have: 1. Cam belt 2. Alternator belt 3. Clutch cable 4. Throttle cable inner 5. Spark plugs 6. Rear wheel bearing

    K Series

Quoting Tony Whitley: My EU2 engine doesn't have a cam sensor, it has a distributor rather than coil packs driven off cam sensor timing. I think all EU2 are the same. Thanks Tony

    K Series

Looking for a Cam shaft sensor for Rover 1.4 SS. Caterham only list one for an EU3 car. Darren in parts tells me they have had a major computer crash and told me that someone on BC would know if the EU3 & EU2 sensors are the same.
  20. Quoting BigCol: Quoting evotell: Job done 😬Glad to hear it; what was the solution to Terry? I guess in the end it was just keep on bleeding it and then making some small adjustment on the linkage. As I have previously said the design is poor with the bleed nipple being below the slave cylinder inlet pipe, I am convinced that's were the air gets trapped. I spoke to a guy who works on modern Ford's here in Canada, and he told me that slave cylinder is used in many north American Fords and all of them are a bitch to bleed. Can is now finished, we deliver on Friday. Cheers Terry Edited by - evotell on 19 Mar 2014 14:17:24

    Rover Dealers

Quoting jingars: At the risk of being accused of sarcasm, it would help if you gave a complete part number - you have left a "B" out. Rimmer Brothers? Thanks You are quite correct I left out the B. 😳

    Rover Dealers

Caterham seem to be out of stock of the following part number, SB 10173 LHD Rover Throttle Cable. Does anybody know if there are any Rover dealers left in the UK or other sources that may have this part? Cheers
