  1. Can't find a previous post of a water leak issue (they wondered if it was HGF) suggestion was mad re the water rail leaking and running towards the front of the engine block. They asked for a photo of where the rail fixes to the head. Anyway, I've attached 2 photos (with the temp sender wires removed for clarity) you can see the rail flange with the hex bolt where it's a suspect place for leaks. (you can see some sealant squeezed out on mine where it was fixed & resealed many years ago, I didn't just want to trust another new gasket) Hope this helps?
  2. Now that's serious grounding, you need a higher ride height.
  3. I've got a dog tag attached and engraved with my name and mobile number including the +44 (0) which came to good use after loosing our key and fob near the Pont du Gard, France last year. Fortunately swmbo keeps a spare set in her bag. Morning after I get a text saying they are awaiting collection from a cafe nearby. £1.00 well spent I thinks! Obviously not every one would have been bothered enough to go to this trouble.
  4. Wrightpayne,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you should have a 'Smith and Western' that way you can shoot the ilagitimates who want to steel your goodies.
  5. Saw you before jcn 8 where we came off after instructions on sat nave and Waze due to a fire on the M25. we rejoined at jcn 9 and you were in an outer lane. We'd gone through Epsom and still joined near you. :-)
  6. AND !!! remove the drain plug on the apollo there's a good pint (1/2 litre for you youngsters) still in there.
  7. Just make sure your armourfend is fitted properly my £5k+ refurb at a well known Seven establismment contracts out this work. Yes they offered to rectify it (plus about 10 other defects including a weeping brake hose union all of which I rectified myself) but I wasn't prepaired to do another two 400 miles round trips to them.
  8. Try pushing the top of the plastic cam cover casing back towards the engine block. Many years ago my cover slightly eased away from the block causing the inside back to gently rub on the pulley giving a slapping sound. I tried flexing the cover back but once warm/hot it would flex away from the block again. I've simply attached a bungie cord to the cover top bolt hole and pulled it around the breather pipe. No one has ever mentioned it (or not noticed) but it's been like this now for 10+ years. cheap fix
  9. Hi, we were on our way back home to Bakewell.
  10. We'll look out for you selling 199 assorted grub screws in the "Market Place"
  11. I too have a bit of rubber hose tie wrapped round the roll bar where it (just) touches the diff. I now have one spurious clunk less that took a while to diagnose where from many many years ago!
  12. 2000 K series The valve is fitted on the top pipe breather hole on the filler neck. Any body know how this make of valve works please? I thought it would be a 1 way valve but I can blow and suck on the pipe connected to it. (it does make a dull musical noise when doing so) Does this type simply let spilt fuel from too much left hand cornering through to the charcoal canister and then allow air back to the tank as the fuel level drops? I'd assumed it would simply be a 1 way valve, (but which way) I'm removing the charcoal filter and got a sytec 1 way valve, so I presume it fits so as to stop fuel spilling out but will allow air in to replace used fuel? cheers
  13. I just have a few 1/8 dia holes to let it run out again.
  14. Hi guys again. presume the sytec valve is fitted so petrol can't come out of the pipe but air can get back into the fuel tank. (Question, if some fuel is held back by the valve then if and when the tank needs to draw air in does the fuel held back by the valve leak out?) Also, I presume the pipe from the filter to the fuel rail has to come off. Do I simply block off the fuel rail inlet? Pipes re-wrapped and polished............. Still looking for jobs to do cheers
  15. Don't suppose any of this affected the MOT emissions check ?
  16. Nigel, Is that what Claire Rayner advises for her gussets?? and I thought it was Red Bull that gave you wings
  17. Johnathan. pm sent Wrightpayne. Thanks, which of the pipes did you fit it to? there are two on the filler neck. And did you fit it under the floor or where the canister used to fit in the engine bay/ rog
  18. Don't think the front one is ever used is it? I've not seen any (or many) with this used.
  19. Johnathan, Not sure I understand what you mean? please enlighten in words of one syllable (I'm hard of understanding)
  20. Johnatan, hi. Just the one bobbin at the back of the silencer. & wonders, Hi, No! no saggy bobbins, renew them every couple of years and carry one in the boot. I just think the front of the silencer metal is sha££ed out after a long squark. Could be due to being welded too many times?
  21. Whilst I've got the car (K series) on stands doing the service Does anybody know what the charcoal filter actually does? apart from add weight. It's been on the car for the last 20 years without any looking at ? Can it be removed? Does it affect MOT emissions? If it can be removed - how? (there was a link some while back but that post is now blanked) I have a few rubber pipes coming out of the fuel tank, 2 go through under the car each side of the transmission tunnel another goes near the braided fuel hose and one goes somewhere? thanks
  22. Hi, my silencer exhaust is ready for another fix or replacement (legacy of a kid standing on the exhaust to look in the car a few years back) the short inlet pipe cracked on the weld where it's joined to the front of the can, this has been rewelded 3 times now. After a period of time the front of the can seems to tear away from the new weld so it looks like the front of the can is suffering from metal fatigue. I was wondering about either a new CC exhaust or a raceco one. Does anybody know how hot the raceco body gets after a good blat. (the standard CC silencer has a heat guard and SWMBO only has little legs so I don't want her burning herself. Thanks
