  1. Wow! 3 hours 20 minutes and not sold I've got one but thought this would have gone by now, surely somebody must want it especially at that price. Good Luck
  2. Hi, John. It would seem like that but that's not the case. It's a VERY Caterham friendly garage I actually sit in the car whilst it's tested and go up on the 4 post lift to operate the switches & pedals etc, so I know what they're doing. It wasn't until this OP thread that I looked at my test results and realised my past history has different test criteria.
  3. There are also TWO different criteria for MOT emissions test on K series cars. Both have the same software release 11.2 and both are dated May 2018. See my last 2 MOT emission test results 2021 shows "vehicle model" as ALL TYPES with fast idle CO at 0.30% and Lamda at 0.95 - 1.09 and Natural idle CO at 0.50% This years 2022 doesn't specify what model and shows different CO & Lamda values. Since 2004 the MOT certificates I have show there have only been 'ALL TYPES' entered 3 times (2008, 2020 & 2021) I can only assume the tester has a choice of entering "vehicle model" ??? see attached picture
  4. Now THIS is what you call an air leak This professional fix is what I did to take the car to to Metal Micky for a shiny new Raceco
  5. Thanks, Stu, I was looking for 'drop link' which didn't find anything. TonyG but Oy! you should be kitchening not BC'ing. Gear box now fixed. Geoff, thanks, handy info. If renewing the ends complete with supplied nuts it doesn't matter if imperial or metric? rog
  6. Hi, anybody know where I can get just the rear ARB drop link ends please? cheers
  7. You were a couple of cars behind our friends tintop, we turned into the Anchor Inn and you continued towards Bradwell.
  8. With reference to this previous post /forum/techtalk/cant-always-select-reverse-after-new-clutch-fitted Further reading might point towards the items in the title. Can these items be got at and replaced simply by removing the tunnel cover and removing whatever is around the lever? What would I need to be aware of if I removed the gear lever? what might drop off and could anything drop into the gear box? If this is the saddle? https://www.bearingkits.co.uk/METAL-RACE-SPEC-CATERHAM-6-SPEED-GEARSTICK-SADDLE/435.htm which/what tabs need gently squeezing to prevent it falling off? Because if you squeeze brass it cracks!!!! Also is the bearing easily removed and what size is it? Thanks all.
  9. Can't think, (hope) the plate is the wrong way round as it was a Caterham friendly garage. Clutch cable is very smooth and NO I don't know what caused the damage to the original plate. Gear changing became impossible after stalling the car doing an abrupt stop when a car cut in front of me. Couldn't get any gear for a panicky few seconds then got forward gears but no reverse. So assumed the clutch had broken some springs but as you can see they're ok albeit 2 are scraped. But on what we don't know. The difficult reverse problem only came on after some 2000 miles and 3 months after the new clutch was fitted. So something has happened to cause the difficult reverse problem. BUT only when hot. I've ordered some Coma 75/90 GL4 fully synthetic MTF (a bit thicker but doubt this will cure it) I've already drained the box and the 50k miles old Redline MTL 75/80 that came out was lovely and clean. The gear lever seems fine and easily springs back to the 3/4 mid position from either of 1/2 or 5/6 gear positions. No noticable play in it and the lever pushes down easily to the left to select reverse (when cold or not running). Hopefully the oil will come tomorrow so I can try the car. thanks, rog
  10. At the end of a most enjoyable 3 week 1700 mile trip last May to Orkney and Shetland the clutch gave way at the top of Shetland (I couldn't select any gears although there was pressure on the clutch pedal when pressing and the fork was moving back and forth in sync with the pedal movement) and necessitated RAC recovery to a garage with plenty of Caterham experience of my choice in South Yorkshire. The garage could not source from anywhere a standard Caterham K series clutch so replaced it with a complete Helix clutch part no. 1605 (https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/helix-190mm-organic-sprung-drive-plate-hlx70-1605/) along with CRB, cover, water pump and timing belt. Two days later we embarked on another 3 week 1600 mile trip along all of the Outer Hebrides islands without any hint of a problem. (This new clutch was "run in", in accordance with the recommended procedure ie; NO track and no racing starts for 500 miles) So 350 miles to Oban and certainly no thrashing around any of the islands! and back home. It's been problem free since June. Until last week when we went to North Yorkshire for a 4 day tour and when parking up at the pub on the first night I couldn't engage reverse, even after trying neutral. It eventually went in with some clunking!!! I gave the clutch cable some adjustment to give more clearance between the plates with the biting point almost at the top of the pedal travel. This appeared to work OK on the the next morning but after the car was warm (NOT as in thrashed hot) I couldn't get reverse without some clunking. This happened all 3 days. It seems OK when cold but even when only normal road use hot it won't engage. I 'HOPE' I can't imagine the clutch is the problem ?? I will replace my Redline MTL 50k miles old with new Redline MTL although I don't susspect this. (the level was checked OK at last April's service). The recovered plate shows damage to 2 of the springs along with damage to both raised lips holding the springs. The opposite springs and housings are not damaged. In reality the garage suggested that there should be no reason why I couldn't get any gears as the plate is still intact. Everything's been OK for about 2000 miles until this. Any body got any suggestions please?
  11. Hi, Nick. How's things? Sorry about the filthy car I'll get it cleaned ASAP but we were on our way back from Aysgarth where we spent the last 3 nights. Cow & sheep poo eveywhere up there. We did the Gat Gill ford (where "All creatures Great and Small" opening credits were filmed). AND Buttertubs 3 times each time on empty roads on our way to Tan Hill pub. Also Ribblehead viaduct, Malham Cove and the gorgeous road above the tarn. We went up via Glossop & Holme Moss and came back the same way. (Just had to show some southern friends what Gods own County has to offer in the way of tarmac between the green hills). rog
  12. What me! Control the weather? It can't rain 'cos I'm replacing my 16 rusty nuts for 16 new shiny ones
  13. Yup, that's me We were on a run out to the Dams to check the levels. Redmires is very low (called in to The Sportsman for lunch - excellent hot turkey, stuffing and apple sauce sarnie) as is Ladybower (but NOT as low as it was in 1986) when we took our two girls to walk around the village. I've still got the 2 roof tiles nailed to our fence that they picked up, they didn't want to take them when they got married and left home (wonder why ) 7WotW You can live in Hope.................. even if you pay your rates to Grindleford! (as the saying goes) The Old Hall is the place to head to 'anti' and 'post' walk. Bacon butty before and copious amounts of Theakston's Old Peculiar after. TJG. Have you got your visas and passports sorted ready for next week? rog
  14. Loads of various Lotus models and ages, Didn't take any counts as the first few groups came past then decided to try and count them (too late really) They came from the A623 on the B6465 towards Ashford then left up the A6020 towards Baslow. Don't know where they were heading but I bet the next garage they pulled up at must have sold out of petrol. Anybody have any idea of their blat?
  15. So many solutions to one problem
  16. All of the above suggestions work except the hole in the tunnel side, I've got a diagonal frame that just obscures the drain plug. I use the spanner and cut down 10mm hex key BUT also put a bit of gaffer tape over the hex bit and press it into the ring before cracking the drain plug. That way you don't have to get out from under the car to look for something with flat sides that falls out and rolls for yards to the other side of the garage.
  17. Black with orange stripe 2 up, something like **** LFF ?
  18. Any use to anybody? Full set, >< 40k miles, dirty. Needs a good seeing to! + adjusters. £30 to include free p&p
  19. I've got a small front plate AND take it from me that they do show up on CCTV (in a wrong time, wrong place lane) ps! It's not usual for blokes to be bragging how small theirs is
  20. Nick, hi. Get some extra length hose to connect the Tee to, that way you can raise the Tee higher than any other part of the cooling system and gently top up with a jug. (and put a spot of copper slip on the cap thread as it will be too tight to undo next time) Also!!! don't pull too much on the hose that goes down the side of the engine as it's joined with a straight plastic coupling which can snap. (don't ask how I know) rog
  21. Market car park in the sun nearly "MY SVN" then seen driving towards Matlock.
  22. Be aware that the car will lift up off the stand if the hand brake brake isn't well pulled up
