  1. Purly guessing that the original bulbs would have been 55Wdip & 60Wmain each so that would be 10Amps total - SO 6Amps saved. eddited to say --- should trype faster
  2. No, I was in the Focus with a boot full of Aldi wine.
  3. Two up through Bakewell over the roadworks, Offside rear brake light out.
  4. Thanks, Andrew. I'll see how I go.
  5. Hi, Andrew. What a lot of plippers! I have a mate who has the kit & for the soldering, he makes tbh PCB's etc as a 'hobby' and amongst his many attributes he makes his own kit for his Laser light shows but as he's not able to program the plippers I thought I'd look elsewhere in case anything untoward happens to the board. But knowing you've got the kit and expertise for programming. I'll source a couple of buttons from the likes of RS and give them to "me mate" to replace. With my fat fingers and Blind Pew's eyes I'm capable with trannies, caps, resisters and big I/C's, etc but nothing that requires ovens or hot guns. However!!! if something amiss happens and the pcb does get damaged I hope I can call on your expertise to sort out a couple of new/referb'd plippers for a donation to RaD and something to cover your costs??? Thanks. roger
  6. I've got two plippers, One that works fine and the other that stopped working. After taking it apart it's the Reset button that doesn't always work unless it's wiggled about. Obviously I would prefer to have 2 working reliable plippers. Qustion. If I obtain another one how do I get it programed with the correct frequency as my car unit? I'd prefer to know I can get a new one first before attempting a repair because it is just about usable if it's not in the protective case. I do intend trying to renew the button switch with a new one BUT it's not as simple as removing the faulty one and replacing because you cant get to it from underneath it should be done 'properly' with a special plate and oven to aid soldering. Cheers.
  7. Hi, right at the point where it attaches to the throttle leaver. When they do break (TADTS) I modified the cut out slot a bit on the lever and "padded" it with a bit of plastic tubing (many years ago) I suspect (I know) it only broke because I was trying to push the lever through the floor pan on the 0-60 run
  8. Oh. as an after thought. I use a bicycle brake inner cable threaded through the Caterham outer cable (many many ££'s cheaper) First cable lasted probably 10 years until I snapped it doing the 0-60 challenge at the Donnington Park 60th. (note to self when at WOT Don't press any harder, it doesn't go any faster)
  9. On the pedal lever end I use screw nipples to adjust it to mid screw length point on the TB adjuster and fine tune from that. I have always had the accelerator pedal lower than the depressed brake pedal so I can toe & heel (or more precisely in my case ball of foot and twist to side of foot) to blip the throttle. I have also extended the throttle pedal tube a bit to the left to make this easier.
  10. So, I have to leave the BC site (or open a new tab) and open Google.com and type "/search?q+site:lotus7.club+(what ever I'm searching for")? I've just tried it and it works I've also been on "Google.co.uk" and that works as well. (no wife protection necessary now) also worked on a search for radiators It just seems odd to have to leave a logged in site to search on that site. but now I know. THANKS.
  11. 2nd post says "do a search here" How do you use search on BC. I've never had much success........... Often nothing like what you're searching for comes back. But! this search takes the biscuit. Try typing "wing protectors" in the top search box and this is what you get Enter terms wing protectors Did you mean wife protection *rofl* Wife gets polished often enough.
  12. Midas, hi. You say you channged the clutch cable on the 29th July and the problem was still the same, you say you've changed it again today and its working ok now. Was the new cable faulty somehow or have you simply re-adjusted it?
  13. Excellent work! "That's a full ten pint fault" as we used to say at work after a "ba$t**d" of a fault. But then again, we used to say ....................... "It's not worth getting thee' co-at off for less than a gallon" Well done that man.
  14. Does the temp drop from 80 ish when you accelerate hard on an open bit of road? If so it's probably the sudden rush of air cooling the radiator.
  15. If you do remove the thermostat housing DO MAKE SURE you use an ORIGINAL (if you can still get them) rubber gasket. It (was / is) part number PEF10010 and use plenty of Lockhead gasket grease above and below the gasket. Fitting it is a bit like working on Hitler's VW Beetle.(it was his master plan to take over the world) the more you work on a Beetle's engine the more your wrists become locked solid in obtuse angles and you can't hold a gun to shoot back at them.
  16. I just use copper slip every year, always have done. I renewed the bellows this year, loads of sites selling the "FORD SIERRA & SCORPIO REAR CALIPER SLIDER PINS & BELLOWS" kits. I just contacted a couple of dealers and asked if they would supply just the bellows. Frentech-uk happily obliged (no affiliation with this company)
  17. Just DON'T fit the foam! and you never have to take the sump off again,........63k miles and counting
  18. Absolutely loaded with 2 rucksacks and doors strapped to roll bar.
  19. Hi, Nick. Take it out in the rain to test your new found HP out, hows it bedding in? Not much better for me towards the end of next week. Didn't want to get my new sideskins and full respray dirty. https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=weather+for+bilbao&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 but at least we'll dry in the sun in between the rain, was hoping for some desert weather but looks like southern Europe is having similar to our weather fronts albeit a lot warmer.
  20. jacking up and down is time consuming and when lowering the car down to check the oil level after removal of the hex plug the oil usually runs out (don't ask)!! Boot floor out and 3/4" of 10mm (IIRC) hex key with a ring spanner and a bit of flexi piping to top up (when the car is level) That reminds me of the lady who went into a motorfactors to buy a new 'seven hundred and ten' cap. Only to be told she'd got the original cap upside down
  21. Have you tried putting the drop links back to the 4th hole to see if the scraping comes back??????????? to catagorically prove the diagnosis. It would give you another excuse to test it on the TT Course (lucky man)
  22. I've still got a bit of CTC from an old fire extinguisher that comes in useful at times. Quoting JK - PS: It's always whisky in the rucksack because it doesn't need a mixer and wine's too heavy because of the water. Man after my own tastes
  23. Hi all, thanks for the replies. I'll have another look and tie the replacement belt over the pipes out of the way. (also a good idea as I can check the belt is the right size :-)
