    SL 1.6 or 1.8?

IMHO the 1.6SS and 6 speed box do make the archetypal combination in the more recent 7's. The 1.6K thrives on revs and the 6 speed helps make the most of whats there. Probably even better with a light flywheel and the added security of forged pistons though 😬 😬 😬 Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here Edited by - Bozz on 16 Mar 2007 07:56:06
  3. There must be owners of factory built cars like yours who have modified engines. Angus is one of them. Maybe he can help. Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here

    Radius arm bolt.

Gambo According to the assembly guide the forward end of the link arms use Bolt No 2 from fastener pack ZRS21 which by my reckoning is:- "Bolt 3/8" x 2-3/4" long caphead bolt with provision for allen key (fine thread)" with plain washer and nyloc nut. Radius arm bolt.

I can check later as I have one of the current fastener packs from CC at home. Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here

  10. If you are not mechanically minded I would consider taking your car to someone like Dave Andrews for Vernier fitting I think he quotes about £300 to supply and fit. What ECU does your car have, is it an MBE? I've not had it done but IIRC Steve G charges about £400 for a mapping session. Best speak to both of them directly for more accurate figures though Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here

  13. Does anyone know if there is any reason why the Spa analogue temperature gauges here cannot be used with a switch to toggle between water and oil temperature? Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here

  18. Allen In my limited experience of these things a 4' bar should be more than enough against these nuts torqued up to 200lbft. In fact on the couple of occasions that I've done this I've had the car on axle stands and just work against the brakes applied by the handbrake. You obviously have to take care not to pull the whole car off the stands though 😳 Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here Edited by - Bozz on 13 Feb 2007 16:52:32

    Rear Brake Pads

    Rear Brake Pads

Brake pads again I noticed in the assembly guide that cars fitted with uprated front brakes should be fitted with rear pads with blue tabs instead of those marked 3460. My car has uprated front brakes but appears to have rear pads marked 3460. Why are different types suggested? Would I notice any change in braking performance if I changed to pads with blue tabs? 24. Ian If you are interested I can email you some pics of all those parts from my stripdown last winter and we can compare clutch part numbers as I still have the old cover (exciting stuff eh ) BTW I replaced my clutch (cover and friction plate) whilst I had the engine out (AP Competition) from CC which I understand is fitted to all versions including the R500. I also changed the CRB which was squealing. IMHO That is a lightened flywheel Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here Edited by - Bozz on 8 Feb 2007 13:15:35
  25. Martin IIRC Redline quoted me approx £65 + VAT per driveshaft to replace both cans and boots. They also do reconditioned driveshafts for approx £75 + VAT exchange. Bozz McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS 6 Speed here
