  1. POBC can you help please... On my old Superlight I had the reinforcing channels when I had S Type seats. My current CSR does not have them (currently have CF Tillets) although it does have lowered floors on both sides and I know the ali is thicker on these floors than the standard variant. So, if I were contemplating fitting S Types (passenger finds them more comfortable) would it be preferable to also fit the channels or unnecessary as the floor is stronger 🤔 Paul
  2. Hi Geoff, Assuming that there are still places for Cadwell in September could you please put me down for one and send me a form - I'll blatmail also. Cheers, Paul CSR Superlight 260 Mclaren Orange Power by COSWORTH Pictures here
  3. I have used both Emerald (twice with my old Superlight when Dave was able to get the most hp possible after DVA attention to cams, verniers, porting and induction) and Track & Road once (when Steve mapped my current CSR260) - which totally transformed its 'drivability'. IMHO both are extremely good and I would happily use the services of either again - it probably does come down to distance and available booking slots. 6. Due to change in family plans I now have four tickets available for Alton Towers (each valid for single use before 1/11/09). The usual on-line price for these is £29.50 each (or £37.00 on the day) so total of £118 (or £148 on day) Willing to sell for £95 for all four. 8. ...and there was I thinking it must have been some sort of reference to a cunning plan about using a turnip as a sump plug 😬
  9. Hmm, not as simple as I thought - cannot get enough leverage to undo the front bolt on the sump and the chassis rail is getting in the way of my socket on the bell housing side. Probably a lot easier if I had facility to lift the car. Guess I shall be going to a garage simply to get the bolts loosened....
  10. I'm about to change the oil on my car for the first time and wanted to check if the following is the correct procedure... After running the engine for a short while to warm the oil: 1) Carefully undo the forward most of the two large bolts in the sump (looking from the near-side of the car). I understand there is a gauze filter behind this. Does this come out or stay in place when the oil drains? 2) Remove the oil filter (replacement from CC is to hand) 3) Remove the large bolt at the bottom of the bellhousing (as seen from the the off-side) and remove (along with associated gauze filter behind) - will I need to do this step at all?? 4) Raise the rear of the car to get as much oil out the drains as possible 5) Measure the volume of oil removed and after refitting the bolts & new filter add approx 4lit of fresh oil 6) Run the car for a short while then measure the oil volume and observe the catch tank for any excess 7) Fill at 0.25lit increments until dip stick level is at max and slight excess is in the catch tank. Is this right or have I missed something? Thanks in advance Paul CSR Superlight 260 Mclaren Orange Power by COSWORTH Pictures here Edited by - apothecary on 23 May 2009 18:50:42
  11. Thanks Steve (particularly for the very helpful photo) and SM25T for advice. I'll take a look at how best to resolve this with a bracket / steel strip. Thanks again. Paul
  12. I have traced an intermittent brake light problem to the usual culprit - the switch mounted in the pedal box. Switch itself seems OK (although I will clean /replace as necessary) but the way its mounted is strange. Unlike the S3 cars I have had in the past the switch is not mounted on a bracket but simply held in place on a chassis tube by a jubilee clip - this 'twists' the switch so it does not seat well and when the brake pedal is depressed and returned it does not always make contact with the plastic plunger in the same way and causes intermittent working. Can anyone with a CSR tell me how their switch is mounted. A photo would be great. Thanks, Paul CSR Superlight 260 Mclaren Orange Power by COSWORTH Pictures here
  13. Had fun last weekend when both leads into mine (on the bulkhead) fell out as I turned from a side road onto a somewhat busy lane . Immediate cut out of the engine was a bit of a shock. Had to pull over, take the bonnet off & scratch my head - thankfully spotted what it was straight away after reading another thread about the inertia switch the previous week. So, wherever you put it on the car it would seem worth checking that the leads are properly seated into the switch CSR Superlight 260 Mclaren Orange Power by COSWORTH Pictures here

  15. This is a very useful thread. I wondered why I had problems at my local station the other week - in hindsight I realise they had swaped to the new filler nozle with a collar. So, as advised above I removed the inner cone and integral SVA flap yesterday, making sure the bigger groove is at the 12'oclock position (it was already). A combination of grinding and banging and it was all over in a matter of minutes ❗ Hopefully it will mean I can fill up without difficulty in future at a greater % of stations. If I get a chance I will post a picture of the piece removed as I was not too sure what I was going to encounter before I started and it may help others. 18. I have a Sterling Power Key on my CSR. The receiver is located in the tunnel by the gear stick gaiter and triggers the immobiliser to 'off' provided it is in close proximity. It will not trigger if the key is in my RHS pocket for example. Its a good solution IMHO (but for some reason I do miss the 'blipper' that my Mems unit on the old SL had ) CSR Superlight 260 Mclaren Orange Power by COSWORTH Pictures here
