  1. Help needed. I have just purchased two new horns from fleabay to replace the feeble ones that are on the car. The old ones have only one connector on each of them with a twin wire going to one horn and a single wire going to the other one. The new horns have both got two connectors. How do they need to be wired? Thanks in advance Stuart
  2. Hi Graham, oh sorry it must have been the beanie hat that confused us! We were just doing one of our usual evening walks. Yes will see you tomorrow, we will be there at 9am, fingers crossed for the weather! Stuart & Sue

    Slap-ed

Hi Graham It was actually Tom that spotted you first from his bedroom window and shouted to Sue that there was a Caterham coming along the road by the time she got to the living room window you were just passing at the end of the road. She came out to the garage where I was busy polishing and told me she had just seen you! Just pop round anytime you are passing. Stuart

    Flat battery

Hi Will I always leave mine connected to a battery conditioner. The original one that I used was a bog standard Halfords one. I have now however, upgraded to a C-Tec one (nothing fancy though). I find that leaving it un-connected for only a couple of weeks can flatten the battery. Stuart
  7. Thanks for the quick replies. I am going with Stridey's method. Stuart
  8. Help again. Could someone post a photo of how the throttle cable attaches to the pedal. I think I know how it should go, but looking for confirmation. Stuart
  9. Again, thanks for the replies. It looks an easy job as I have already got the old one off. I happen to have new cycle cable in the garage as my son is a keen cyclist. He will not notice one missing. Stuart
  10. Thanks for the quick replies. I will take off the cable and have a look at the inner and also the pedal pivot. The cable is the original one so may just as well change it to be on the safe side. A call to Redline tomorrow. The throttle body on mine is alloy so over tightening of the air filter would have been the easier fix. Is the cable relatively easy to change? Stuart

    Engine revs

Looking for some help here with a problem that is very sporadic and hard to pin point the conditions at the times it occurs. When lifting off the accelerator to come to a stop, very occasionally, the revs seem to take ages to reach the tickover speed of about 850rpm. Yesterday, in the heat and the fan being on, the revs would not settle to tickover at all instead staying at about 2400rpm. This obviously kept the fan on which made the original problem worse. I pulled over and done the 5 times pedal press and all was O.K. Why would this happen only occasionally? Why do the revs seem to take ages to settle? K Series EU3 by the way. Stuart
  12. I have for sale a set of 5 15" 10 spoke anthracite wheels. They are all in good condition. Four of them have Scudo Stunner tyres fitted to them, the 5th one does not have a tyre. The 4 that have tyres have 2 fitted with 195/50/R15 and 2 with 195/45/R15. The 195/50/R15 tyres have good tread left on them and the other two are certainly still usable but have a little less tread. One of the wheels has some damage on the inside that is not visible from the outside and is repairable. I have only recently acquired these wheels and have changed my mind about fitting them and looking to just cover my outlay really, so putting the lot up for sale at £500. I can send photos if anyone would like to have a look or I could get my son to put photos on here. Any purchaser would have to arrange collection from Staffordshire. Stuart Edited to say that they are standard S3 fit not CSR
  13. Hi Wil. I am sure that Arch would not offer nylon coating. I took mine to a place in Leek called Kelcoat. If you do go with nylon coating, do not have the coil springs done. The heat process with nylon coating seriously alters their structure. Stuart
  14. Hi Sean. Could you not go to a local friendly motor factors? Water pumps are generally not expensive and you could be up and running again today. Waiting for eBay and getting the wrong one could get frustrating. Stuart
  15. Hi Will As revilla says, Arch will do them for you. I had the de-Dion tube and the rear A frame powder coated and rebushed by them last year. Parts came back like new and for a very reasonable price. If you are talking about the front suspension parts, it may well be worth considering having them nylon coated rather than powder. Much tougher coating that will last. Mine were done about 6 years ago and still look like new today. Stuart
  16. Hi Anthony. When Powerspeed fitted mine, they carefully offered each primary up in turn making the hole bigger as he went. He did give me the option to look away. The guy used a nibbler that was air driven. I can send you some photos of the job being done if you give me an E-Mail address. Stuart
  17. Hi Jambo Have you sold these wheels and tyres yet? Stuart
  18. Has anyone got a set of 15" 10 spoke Anthracite wheels that they would like to sell? Not too bothered about condition as I would get them refurbed. Stuart
  19. Hi Graham This was a dark red with two silver bonnet stripes, now we know what colour yours is we should be able to easily spot you! Yes got brakes sorted (numpty error on my part) to be honest have not been out to try and test them yet since, waiting for some better weather and no salt on the roads, also sorned at the minute. What was wrong with yours then?
  20. Think it may have been you just spotted on Plantation Lane at 4.30pm, not sure what your new car looks like
  21. Hi Ian. OOPS. I did say that I was not the most technically gifted Caterham owner. Will swap them tomorrow. I may use the gravity method and spend the 20 mins per side reading the build manual. Stuart
  22. Hi Ian You have me wondering now. Bleed nipples are very definetely on the bottom. Would it be possible for me to have put the calipers on the wrong sides? (Not the most technically aspired person). Hi Charles. Using pedal method not an option earlier today, but could be tomorrow. Stuart
  23. I have been trying all afternoon to bleed the brakes on my Caterham all afternoon. I have had some work done on the front end that meant that the front calipers had to be removed. They are Hi-Spec 4 pot calipers and were new last winter. I have also had new front brake hoses made and these are fitted. While I had the car on axle stands, I took out the rear brake pads to check them and clean and grease the sliders. Today, I thought I would try to bleed them. I have bled them at least 4 times this afternoon using over a litre of new brake fluid. I started with the nearside rear then offside rear followed by nearside front and lastly, offside front. I have done them each time until no bubbles are present, but when I press the pedal, there is nothing there. The pedal goes straight to the floor. If it helps with answers, I am using an "Eazi Bleed" system. I have also done both inner and outer bleed nipples on the front calipers. Stuart
