  1. Red one parked up in Ashbourne about 15:00.
  2. Geoff, I have had the same problem with the starter motor on my K Series. It was the solenoid that is attached to the starter. Take the starter off and take it to an Auto Electrical place that you can trust, and they will overhaul the starter for you.It cost about £40, but it has been fine ever since. Apparently, it is a common problem, due to the starter motors close proximity to the exhaust manifold.
  3. Thanks for that Ray. Been on my hands and knees and spotted the weld line.
  4. I am searching around some local garages to get my 2002 1.4 K Series Classic M.O.T'd. Not many garages seem to have M.O.T'd many Caterhams and the two that I have vivited are both unsure about the exhaust. As far as I am aware, the exhaust is completely standard. It is certainly no different in appearance to any other K Series that I have seen. One garage was even convinced that my exhaust had been tampered with and the cat cut off. Opinions welcome please.
  5. Thanks for that "oily hands". My car is a 2002 "classic"
  6. This could be a daft question for some owners!!!!! Would my K Series 1.4 have a rev limiter? If it has, what would the max revs be? I do give it some stick, but have never felt the rev limiter kick in. Maybe my idea of "some stick" is not enough.
  7. Many thanks for the replies. I feel confident enough to carry out the job (I think).
  8. Hi Nick, have a look in your inbox
  9. When removing the sump to change the foam pad on the K Series engine, is it possible to carry this out with the car on axle stands? Is there a gasket or seal that needs replacing or renewing when doing this job? My car has done 11000 miles now and I have no confirmation that this procedure has been carried out. Should it be done yet?
  10. Only just. At work at the mo, so will e-mail you this evening.
  11. Thanks for that detailed answer Mick. The experts have bled the system and given it the all clear. I think that I will just have to live with it. I will certainly keep your reply in case I ever need to drain and refill the system.
  12. I have never felt the hose when the car is left running stationary.I know that if in traffic, the fan comes on as normal and the temp guage never reads above normal 80ish deg's
  13. Since owning my 1.4 k series Classic ,I have always been concerned about the cooling system on it. No matter how far I go or how hard I drive the car, the bottom hose barely gets warm, never mind hot. "Experts" have had a look at the car and have given it the all clear. I still have this nagging doubt about it. How hot should the bottom hose get when driving normally?.
