  1. Did you just wrap a tape around a new tyre to get the circumference? The weight of the car squashes the tyre a bit and thus reduces the radius. Best way to measure is to make a chalk mark on the tyre and the road and then push the car for a known number of revolutions - the more revolutions the better but you will need a longer tape. Also note that (during the IVA test) speedometers are allowed to overread by up to 10% but must NOT underread.
  2. If I reply to a thread I can Preview the post before actually posting it. This facility doesn't seem to exist when writing the first post of a new thread.
  3. Orange on light blue - fine for Gulf racing cars but almost unreadable on a web page!
  4. Have you considered something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Circuit-Breaker-Blade-Fuse-12V-24V-28V-Resettable-Marine-Rally-Car-Automotive-/391172924907
  5. Are you being serious? The MOPG is *much* more responsive than the carp electrickery ones - mine used to be almost as slow as the fuel gauge.
  6. I got a set of parts from a (fairly) local member. It didn't include the switch for driving a warning light - just an adapter to suit the hole for my oil pressure sender, a hose of the required length with the right end fittings and a gauge. Nice and simple. Considerably cheaper than the Think setup but it works a treat. Drop round one evening and I'll show you what it looks like.
  7. I didn't remove the track rod end from the hub... I just loosened the locking nut and unscrewed the rod from the track rod end - it has flats so you can fit a spanner if needed. Don't forget to count the turns (or fit a bit of tape as described above. When re-fitting, screw the rod in before fitting the cable-ties to minimise the twist on the new boot.
  8. Piece of gravel trapped behind the disk?
  9. If you are using a web browser that displays the current URL (web address) you can see the forum there. e.g this page shows a url of http://www.lotus7.club/forum/bugs/where-am-i-lost-after-using-new-and-updated so it is in the bugs forum.
  10. Have you considered Chromecast? £30 and should work with most Android devices.
  11. Ruby red/orangey? with clams L7OOM Followed you past the two cars/deer incident.
  12. Are you sure of the CD8 part of the code? A google search for CDU2749 throws up lots of results describing a Rover belt 23mm wide with 143 teeth (for manual tensioner)
  13. The old boot cover will still "sort of" fit with puckers all over the place. I bought a new boot cover when I changed to FIA bar - looks much nicer
  14. Twas the same on good ol' Blatchat. Barry thought it was better to leave the choice to the user rather than forcing new tabs on people.
  15. Try holding down Ctrl when you click.
  16. So, when you click on the link that says "3 new replies" you wonder why it shows you the first reply. If you think about it logically (like a computer designer might) the first post in a thread isn't a reply. If a topic is "new" I click the topic title. If it is "updated" I click on View n new
  17. Much, much improved but... (there's always a but isn't there ) Multi word searches seem to default to OR e.g. Do the club watch search and then try sorting by date - gives you loads of posts which only include the word club. Putting the search term in quotes seems to search for the exact phrase but doesn't help if the words aren't adjacent. Would AND be a better default?
  18. I tested the "new improved" search using the word Sardinia, which I remembered appearing in the Swiss Watch thread. It didn't find it. I manually found the thread to confirm that sardinia appeared Then I tried a search for Swiss Watch It still didn't find it. Fail
  19. Myles, was that the cover you had in place when a bit of gravel stripped half the teeth from the cam belt and bent a few valves?
  20. Hmm - it seems that DropBox give you 2GB free but will ban your links if you generate more than 20GB traffic in a day. They don't publicise that limit particularly well. Apologies to the 19th person who tried to download the vid.
  21. OK - if you want to see Dave finger in action (and his cat) in super low definition Dropbox
  22. I'm fairly sure it was only the ports that you put your finger in.
  23. I have Lornes blessing to share the videos. I have captured the head modification tape (2hr 50mins) but the raw capture runs to 6GB so I am playing with HandBrake to see if I can get it to a reasonable size while retaining the current video quality. Remember that these are from 13 year old VHS tapes - not the latest HD GoPro. Would I be able to host them on this website? I notice that if I upload a picture it says that I have an unlimited quota - wonder what will happen if I rename a 2 GB MPEG as a JPEG and try the upload...
  24. Thanks Dave, email sent - could you edit your post to save Lorne from spam? p.s. I'd forgotten about the shorts and the way you used your finger in the ports
  25. Following a huge spring (winter?) clean I have found my VHS copy of Lorne Masons videos.I have also dug out my VHS player and a video to USB adapter to digitally capture them. I have tried to contact Lorne to get permission to share them but haven't heard back from him - the email address I am using is 13 years old so he might not still be using it. Does anybody have current contact details for him?
