Are you sure CC have got that right?
From the IVA Information Guide here
I admit that I bent the rules slightly when I SVA'd my car (10 years ago). I booked the PBC for the morning and the SVA for the afternoon and drove the car to the factory and then to the Gillingham test center and then home.
If you are squeamish about this then get CC to collect the car for PBC but then drive it yourself from Dartford to the test and then home. This could save you £615.
The crazy thing about the rules is that you can drive home and take the car to a garage (for example CC) only AFTER it has failed. If you think the car will pass then you can't drive it to a garage. Screwy or what?

Get them changed now. For most (all?) of those items it is cheaper to spec them up front rather than but two parts and throw/sell one.
It might take a bit of sweet talking but none of those parts(apart from the horn - Miltec, my horn is in the wheel boss) should affect Caterhams build-up of the kit.
From Avon website looking at fronts
195/45 R15 - 554mm Diameter
175/55 R13 - 527mm diameter
Difference is 27mm so height should drop by 13.5mm
Call it half an inch in old money
Just noticed that 205/55 R13 is 554mm so exactly the same as 195/45 R15

I suspect that the people with shorter lengths have the pressure switch and are only measuring from the tee piece which has 18 inches of braided pipe between it and the filter housing. The longer length is if you just have a single run from the filter to the gauge.
So Roger's 4' 6" plus 18" equals Whoosh's 6' ?
Why would they be dry if you have just sloshed oil over them?
I doubt very much that turning the engine over with a ratchet will cause the oil pump to deliver anything to the cam carrier
If you want to play safe after a six month layup:
Charge battery
Remove cam cover
Paint cam lobes with cam lube
Slosh half a litre of oil around the rest of the valve gear
Replace cam cover
Remove spark plugs
Put a squirt of thin oil down each plug hole
Crank without plugs until oil pressure registers
Replace plugs
Start her up
He might have paid but he is still a splitter
Or was it just his cam belt that split?
(Seriously though Myles, did you ever discover the cause? Did I pick up a hint that JJ has disposed of the melted cheese?)
Several people have used my patented method of measuring sump clearance (royalty-free license available on application)
As many peoples garages are also their booze store it is easy to set the sump clearance correctly. At the right height a beer can will roll under but a wine bottle won't - sumples!
Ok then, the more sensible suggestion is to get another fob from someone like Alarm Remotes
You can either send off your 5AS unit (the immobiliser) and all your existing fobs to them and they will program a new fob for £70
OR
for £88 they will send you a new fob and a "dongle" that lets you program it yourself by using the diagnostic socket that should be dangling under the dash in the region of the steering column.
(Oooo errrr missus - dangling dongles 😳)
Steve, the K series needs an adapter to either M12x1.5 or M10x1 depending on the age.
I think that pre 1998 engines used the M10x1 and later engines have M12x1.5
There are two links to the mech opg parts list on the 7faq page. The one on the left is useless but the one in the right hand column titled How Do I/Remote Oil Pressure Parts List still works.
It would be nice if someone could check that the part numbers are still current and correct and some advice added as to which engines use the M12x1.5 adapter and which need the M10x1.0 Has anyone recently done this mod?

*arrowup*It looks like they are referring to the A-frame to DeDion tube bracket as a "crucifix". I can see how this could cause the dedion to bend but must admit that I have often used this point to jack the rear of the car. Is it better to use the diff or should it be done using the outer chassis frame by the towing eye (where I always put the axle stands)
Could it be as simple as the plug cover?
The screws holding mine were too long and bottomed out causing the cover to be slightly loose and to buzz at certain engine speeds. A couple of washers sorted it.
