    Seat Runners

Although the Anglsey thing is not valid anymore
  3. Dont the French racers use Duratec and LHD Thus having neither exhuast not intrusion bar 🤔 Nick
  4. Risky buisness suggesting new forums but what I am suggesting is a place where all posts regardless of forum are listed (maybe excluding sheds) That way you a regular blatchatter can simply see whats new rather than dipping into Chitchat then looking in Tech then in ForSale then in..... Nick as an example locostbuilders.co.uk where they have a load of different forums
  5. Oil filter housing needs painting, tidying up Is it wise to remove it 🤔 I assume it is also the oil pump which takes the drive off the camshaft 🤔 The rest of the engine is assembled and I dont want to take it apart - I just want to tidy up the anciliarys. If I can remove it easily and there are no pitfalls then after a bit of spit and polish it will go back on. Advice Nick here
  6. Have you upgraded to Silicone? I need the two large diameter hoses coming off the radiator. My hoses are 18 years old so I am not expecting newness just something a little fresher Nick

    Seat Runners

Needed Please One set of seat runners for tillet type seat. I am in West london but if they could be got to Anglsey I am sure they could get back to me. Nick
  8. If I understand this correctly the mounting feet on the tillet are not the lowest part of the seat. For a true picture of how much the seat could be lowered see how much room there is between the floor and the base of the seat - it may be as little as a finger width. The only way of lowering your head may have to come from reclining the seat by taking away from the back spacers and adding to the front ones. Nick having said that can I have your runners 😬 Nick

    swap diffs

Mark 355GTS has just got a 6 speed box to solve his gearing problem - he may be interested in a diff as another way of achieving it Nick

  11. Link to X-Flow Weber timing disk and mount for sensor - photo at end here
  12. Monkaaaaaay My trigger wheel is bolted on the front with spacers(washers) as you suggest Nick
  13. Cheers all I was just looking at DM tools - took me ages to find as " the shop next to Machine Mart on the high street" was not getting me very far I will see what they have in stock and I am sure between the two shops they will sort me out with something better than I have. Having used a scotchbrite wheel and had it work so well I am surprised that I am not falling over people selling them. Nick
  14. Thanks Cagey Nearly there although that one looks like it is for an angle grinder in that it is abrasive on its face rather than the edge. Found a company called viking which looks pretty good but will need to call up their tech support to get the correct product number. Nick
  15. I need to clean some metal components - (eg corroded damper body threads) and I need something with more bite than a polishing mop and a bit more finese than a 6inch wire brush wheel. I used to have a scotch brite wheel 6inch diam, and cant find anything similar. Looking for a west london tool shop doing this preferably - or internet. Any suggestions 🤔 Nick
  16. I know what crudders means about finding rust justifying the work - I was amazed at the condition of my 18year old chassis tubes - it made the destruction of the alloy panels somhow wasteful - I dont know what I am going to use to protect it this time round. I got my suspention "hot zinc sprayed" with a device that looked like an Oxy Acetylene torch and a wire feeder. - I dont know if that is the same method as Arnie used. Would a big naked flame be compatible with the brazed joints? (fine with welded joints) I got that done by Stuart at Franklins enammeling in Staines. Nick
  17. Steve As stated The Halfords universal boot IS expandable to that extent However remarkable or unbelievable it may be I have done it with my own fair hands 😬 Nick
  18. Some suggest splitting the driveshaft but It is possible to pull the new boot over the end of the drive shaft - a dob of grease and a plasic bag for lubrication did it for me. 😳 Pros may have a special cone to smooth its path, a suitably sized plastic bottle cut to size may work. They can rip - I ripped the first and then did the numbers two and three fairly easily. I used the Halfords universal ones.
  19. Several different testers at several garages have failed to note lack of repeaters on my post 86 car But that does not mean they are not all wrong Does the new MOT system prompt them to seek out side repeaters as well as giving them information regarding the emissions 🤔 Nick
  20. Highly unlikely that some bloke who bolts wings onto saloon cars knows how to pannel beat aluminium. Send the car to the factory - I would send it to a seven specialist and use them to do all the running around from factory to paint shop etc. for a rear end the rollbar fuel tank wings etc all need to come off. see here
  21. I was thinking of trying to split the loom into sub-looms the lighting circuit is unlikely to be modified and can be easily separated. The ecu loom is a natural division Instruments another. beyond that I get a bit vauge - I think I need to get in there and start striping out the redundant wiring and see how it goes. I was considering using the spiral wrap to group the sub looms together as appropriate. Nick
  22. The big bit on the car and the small bit on the suspention would give you the least unsprung weight. Nick

    Bolt Listing

Is there such thing as a bolt listing for the 7? I would like to replace as many reasonably priced fixings as I can I could go to Caterham - for a price or take a bucket load of bolts to a local shop and hope they have some in stock and I can remember which bolts go back where. Or just get a list of Bolts Anyone 🤔
  24. I am looking to put a small order into a tools website to try and fill in some gaps in my tool selection, I have got by bodging a little in the past but for this re-build I want the right tools - and now I cant remember any I have got a good selection of imperial sockets and a full set of metric sockets and spanners but few duplicate spanners (tempted by a set of Halfords pro ratchet spanners) 🤔What are the common imperial sizes on the chassis and X-flow engine 🤔 Top damper Hex key imperial bigger than 9mm = 3/8in 🤔 The horrible nut with no access under the inlet manifold is needs 1/2in spanner What size is the big nut under the headlamp 🤔 PS on bikes what is the most common Hex key size? I ought to get a T-Handle Key Cheers Nick
