Is there a way to measure backlash on my diff without taking it out and using a clock gauge ? Perhaps by measuring degrees of prop rotation, It sounds a bit clonky at the minute, and its not the A frame bush. Thanks
  15. google it and you will find that you can work it out by jacking the car and counting turns on propshaft and wheel, its also different for LSD
  16. Mine flashes on my 94 Supersprint
  17. Its very easy to do yourself, providing you do not have a problem with the carbs Balance the carbs, probably by ear and a hose pipe, then adjust slow running jets at circa 1200 RPM so that you get max revs on each jet, ie screw in or screw out each jet approx 1/2 turn each time to get max revs. Or purchase a color tune Lots of info on the web on how to do it
  18. Yes its possible & I have done it. However the four speed box is far nicer and I think more reliable and I do regret it sometimes. I bought a fabrication which moved the gear box mounting bracket backwards from (I think ) Brent Chiswick and proceeds went to nuke the luke, who you should be able to blat mail. You cut out the old mounting & rivet in the fabrication & its fairly easy. A word of warning, the standard type 9 ratios leave a lot of room for improvement for a 7
  19. Ah, didnt know that, mine was for S3 Lotus & never had one so OK with plain laminated, good luck
  20. I took my cracked screen to a glass company & they cut a new laminated sheet for me £25
  21. It looks identical to my 94 SS, I have also converted to a 1.8 zetec & there are considerable wiring changes for that change, ie ecu, tps, temp. rev counter, so you would also need the additional wiring diagram for zetec these items are now fed from ecu which should be connected to fuse box, mine is thro the heater fusev which i have done away with.. I have always had problems with LH lights and RH lights. Do you have a particular problem ?
  22. Dont bother use your ears instead - twin45's
  23. Yes I have had this problem but not with a 1700. My 1700Xflow always used B8ECS, however when I restored my Lotus with an old 1600 I naturally put B8ECS in but she kept on fouing up. Eventually I found that I had the wrong plugs, changed them and not a problems since. Probably wont help with a 1700 but I will let you know the plugs, but not in this weather.
