  1. Hi, does anyone have a pair of these suspension collars available? They are the same from a live axle or de dion fitting. Thanks Nick
  2. Possibly Pistonheads. Or use a classified ad on eBay so you are simply getting the advert out there but it's not an auction type sale. It should be a fixed price for the ad to run for a month. otherwise see if there are any Facebook groups for M5's and post there. The car looks a great buy
  3. Anyone got very small feet or perhaps for new young drivers... Dark grey but in size UK 6.5. I bought them for Trish and she tried them on but found them a bit too high on the heel for her to be comfortable. They are mens fitting and in as new condition £20 plus postage or can take to the forthcoming AR meeting to be handed on. TIA Nick

    CYCLE WINGS

Certainly in the past there used to be two sizes of cycle wings from Caterham: 13/14" and 15/16". The latter being quite a lot longer (several inches) than the smaller ones. i have never run 15/16" wings and often mix between 13" Barmby's on 175/55 tyres and 15" 10 spoke wheels with 195/50. The longer wings offer a bit more stone protection to the sideskins/rear arches I expect and will cut down the rain spray but otherwise its an aesthetics thing I'd say
  5. Remove the fuse block from the bulkhead. I can recall there being a problem with the connection on the back of the fuse box itself occasionally causing an intermittent problem. Possibly a black and yellow wire (but guessing on that bit!).
  6. I would say that having two on the leading edge with at least the top one on the scuttle curve is a directional popper as this one takes the most wind pressure. And the one on the bottom rear edge right in front of the rear arch. I have got an additional one for the middle of the rear arch between your elbow and shoulder but this one tends to come undone with my arm resting against it. So that's 3....
  7. Sorted the collars now - thanks Pete Still after the adjustable platforms if anyone has them spare
  8. Hi, Does anyone have any spare collars to fit the top of the damper unit and/or adjustable spring platforms to fit standard Bilstein shocks on a DD 2000 car. Either loose spares or dead/unused complete units will be fine TIA Nick
  9. Maybe someone can find the ones where there is the large 7 logo at a 45 degree angle covering half of the rear panel. Looks great and everyone will know the car at 50 paces so no problems with tailgaters ...
  10. " my only tuition as such has come from my dad though so I'm not particularly well qualified to advise!" Tom, you make it sound like your dad was out teaching you with L plates on a Sunday! If so he hasn't done a bad job...
  11. Hi Clive. My car had the very large CF one on originally but it was removed and sold as it robbed so much power! Happy to swap though and keep yours as an original fitment to the BB even if never re-fitted
  12. Clive, don't forget I've got the other bonnet too to save hacking the current!
  13. Hi Phil, the heated screen connections are under the scuttle and in the outer corners. The wire passes through two small grommets so that helps locate where your should be feeling under there. They are simple bullet or spade connectors to split apart. If you have knee trim panels to help tidy the cockpit area, you may need to drill the rivets out to free these trim panels or you might be lucky and have black self tappers holding them in place. This assumes you don't have the interchangeable brackets holding the scuttle down which have nut welded on to save removing the trim panels. Unless you know for sure, the only way to find out is to remove the panel... To remove your windscreen, remove trim panels, undo heated screen connections, remove wiper arms (lift so they are 90 degrees to screen and wiggle them off their spindles). The screen is held by the windscreen stanchions which are fixed by 4 bolts to the scuttle. I loosen the 6 small screens that hold the stanchion to the sides of the screen. I then loosen the 4 main bolts to the scuttle. Loosening the small 6 screws releases the pressure of the stanchions on the scuttle and reduces risk of scratches I find. Probably best to have someone help you know to steady the screen as you remove all 4 main bolts and then lift the whole lot off the car and store safely out of the way. Try not to prop it up as it will only fall over and smash.... Removing the screen on my car is around 5-10 mins but I don't have the knee trim panels fitted anymore. With regards fitting the Brooklands screens. The usual way is to have the screens fitted to a Brooklands Band which uses the same 4 holes the main screen uses so its a cinch to change over and leaves no permanent fitting marks. if you aren't using a band and want to drill them directly to the scuttle and mount using the 4 pillars, I think you will have to carefully measure and drill straight through the chassis rail under the edge of the scuttle to get the rigidity to keep the screens steady. If you mount them only on the alloy scuttle without the chassis support, I think they will flex the scuttle and buckle it. Personally i'd fit a set mounted on the Brooklands Band. There are two types of BB. The standard set which is a direct replacement for the windscreen position. Or the forward sloping set which uses the same 4 mounting holes as the standard versionbut the band slopes forward 2-3" and covers the wiper spindle holes. Obviously you have to drop your wiper boxes (undo the 19mm chrome nuts, remove the rubber block and gently press the spindles down through the scuttle holes) and remove the washer jet too. I think the look is much neater this way but its a personal preference. HTH Nick
  14. Welcome back Martin to the fold! . Is this stuff better than ACF50 do you know?
  15. If you drive along and push them outwards so they make more of an angle to the sideskin, you will find the buffeting will reduce quite a bit and you will then know where to position them if you warm the perspex and bend the bottom section in to the scuttle. Use a heat gun carefully or stick them in boiling water which takes a lot longer to make them pliable. I found them very comfortable up to 70 with them sticking out quite a bit - similar to how Cobra 427's are positioned. Certainly worth a try if you want to keep the screen and go doorless.
  16. Heading south on the M1 this morning. I hope you didn’t get caught in the traffic with the motorway shut Jct 12-11
  17. Might be worth checking the two top hat bushes that locate the A frame at base of axle. They degrade over time (in the line of fire for oil and road crap!) and then allow the diff to move slightly when accelerating or changing gear as the load goes on and off the drive train.
  18. Presumably a 620r (with 620Uxx reg) with a yellow seven heading towards M42 South. Hope you cleared the roundabout quicker than my 10 mins with the traffic stood still heading North
  19. Hi Andy. Can I have the verniers if they can be posted at my cost? thanks Nick
  20. Most likely it’s 3.62 final ratio. I think my supersport is at 4100 rpm for 70mph and not a particular problem for motorway cruising
  21. Blue with orange stripe. Didn't you fancy a run up the hill? Great to see such a range of cars and bikes

    GPS Speedo

I think the problem is line of sight with the sky. Like a satnav dropping its signal when you go through a tunnel or perhaps if plenty of overhanging trees, the speedo will "drop out" for a brief spell. Most of the time it isnt a problem, but its just every now and again when you heading towards a speed camera!
  23. My brother is selling some of his camera gear: Excellent condition Sigma 100-300mm f4.0 lens for Canon EF/ EOS cameras, almost L quality at less cost. Has Hoya filter, paperwork, case and is boxed. Owned for many years but now using all Canon lenses and thinning out my collection - £295, Sigma 50mm macro f2.8 in excellent condition £95 but not boxed and is a fine quality lens. Also got a Billingham canvas camera bag as new model 550 in black with tan leather trim and green removable high density padding £250 I can get other photos sent over if anyone is interested. Postage will be at cost or perhaps see if GONADS is possible. Thanks Nick
