  2. Hi, it might be worth a call to Bruce at Arch Motors. I can recall some similar conversions to the spherical bearing setup with the lower lug on the chassis being cut off and a new boss being added and then the same large bolt being used as a DD car. Regards Nick

  4. I used to run a half undertray on my VX - similar coverage to Aeroscreens' setup. The engine bay was remarkably clean. I don't think there was any effect with the bonnet lifting or too much heat being trapped in there at all. i think the heat actually tries to escape along the tunnel rather than from underside of the bonnet whilst driving, obviously different when stationary.
  5. A trick I've found from Trish's SLR is to fit the height spacers between the floor and runner (assuming you use spacers) and this gap keeps the runners away from the crap on the floor pan. The seats run freely in her car and have never been clogged up.
  6. Yep just simple plugs to tidy up the look and stop water going in the holes. I used a bit of silicone for the same effect

  8. Ralph, I used a brushed on finish and it came out very well. Also used it for the track rod ends, steering arms and top ball joints to tidy it all up
  9. Hi Ralph, I had a set powdercoated and they looked great. However, more recently I have wirebrushed the ones on my current car and then painted them in Hammeritre Satin Black and they are looking fine after 3-4 years with a quick wash at the end of the season. Nick

Hi, I've just removed the sandwich plate again and failry confident it was nipped up tight enough with the amount of effort to release it. i've got the seal off and it is quite a bit different to the oil filter one and it does seem to have gone a little hard so a call to Think Automotive is required. Here's the photo to show the two seals side by side for future reference. Thanks for suggestions.

  12. Hi, Has anyone replaced the oli seal ring that sits beween the Apollo tank oil feeds and the oli filter housing on a K series car? I seem to have an oil drip despite oiling it and giving it a nip up when I had to split the feed and the oil filter housing to sort out an oil leak from the gasket to the block... At least that one is oil tight now! Is the Apollo one a consumable item and easily replaced locally from Halfords? Thanks Nick
  13. Excellent condition pocket sized camera with Zeiss lens and 30x zoom. 180 degrees tiltable LCD screen Only 10 months old - still has warranty until 14/04/2020 with Currys. Original box, charging lead and manuals included I bought this camera to go on holiday to New York last summer but ended up taking another camera instead so this one is like new and unmarked. £200 collected from Newcastle-under-Lyme or will sort out postage at buyer cost Thanks Nick

A long time ago (80's) self build owners would have to fit their own weather gear which meant a variety of different placings depending on interpretation of the manual and where base line measurements were taken. I think it was the worst job to do on the car as you juggled the doors against the side of the car and tried to work out the hinge fittings! Either it became a no cost option or Caterham were shocked into action by the varying levels of fittings but I seem to recall factory fitted weather equipment being included early 90's on.... which certainly means hood transfer between cars is more likely to fit. I have a small pile of hoods in the garage and they are interchangeable between cars which is just as well as I can't remember which went with which anyway! Nick
  16. Also see if a local member is happy to go and view the car with you. An experienced owner will be useful to point out problems and what you should expect to see
  17. I can't recall the gap but the headlights have adequate space from the nosecone and certainly don't cause any issues removing the nosecone at all
  18. Hi Brian, no problem with the headlight moving at all. They replace the previous angled bracket which had no additional steady and allowed more leverage on the pivot point than these flat brackets. Cheers Nick
  19. There was a batch of lowered headlight stays made up by Dave Morris a few years ago if you ask around for any unused pairs. They fitted in the same place as the original ones and through the nosecone and meant the 7" headlight nestled into the gap between sideskin and cycle wing. Fitted with a £30 LED bulb upgrade, its a very cheap and effective upgrade. Here's a photo of the Blackbird side on to show how unobtrustive they are with a close up of Trish's SLR to show how simple the bracket is.

  22. Hi Elie, i think your collars are same as my Eibach ones and shallower than the standard Bilsteins ones which i think are 30mm high. Thanks for checking though for me me. Ian - good idea about Bilstein. I'll see if a set of used ones come up over winter otherwise i'll give them a shout in the spring. Cheers Nick
  23. Hi Elie, the spring ID is 2.25". Are your collars the same as the ones in the photo? I have got some on some Eibach units but they are shallower and obviously made specifically for the Eibach damper it seems thanks Nick
