    Harewood 7th August

Thanks Simon - and you are close with the date - AGAIN Mike
  2. One for our Comp Sec. What are we supposed to put for the class if we enter the event on the Saturday - do we have a dedicated Lotus 7 Club Class or have I missed something? Pretty sure we did last year - especially as I set the fastest time - Mark said he wasn't trying as it was only practice for the Sunday 😬 And that was only in the R300 Mike

    Loton

Just ignore the posts the same as usual Roger 😬 And no, it wasn't the R400 - probably just the R300 Mike
  4. Well done Alan - it is always a bit special I do hope that whatever Adrian gave to you wasn't something to make you go faster than you should in Class 2! It wasn't a Yellow trowel was it? Mike

    Loton

That will give Roger something to think about 😬 I can't believe they asked you to do that - with your record of trying to set fire to cars there Mike
  6. Just typical journalistic exaggeration - about the engine and the ahem spinning I will have you know I have not spun at every event - just at 2 out of 3 I think I am in Calvert & Price territory. Ok so it was twice at Llandow - but nothing like as interesting as Troublemaker doing a 360 in the busstop. As for the engine - well it is so hard trying to find the right setting on the map switch Mike
  7. But at least it got you going - for the final run at least - dammit! Mike
  8. Hi Geoff, YHM, but about my place on the trackday. Cheers Mike
  9. So then Rob - did you find your gloves? 😬 😬 I did once have a useful scrut who picked up some play in a front wheel bearing - fixed by one of the Club spanner monkeys I think - it is amazing - bit of trouble and they appear from all over the place - marvelous it is a really anxious time when you go through the first few times - if you have any problems get someone to get our Comp Sec (if he is not getting himself on the outside of a can of cider 😬) or another 'experienced' sprinter to help. You could always try to get Dave ' I know what is in the Blue Book' Nelson involved - but it will involve shouting . I had several hassles with a tinted helmet visor last year - I had the untinted with me as well and said I would put it on to avoid arguing, so best to be prepared to say the same if you normally use a tinted one. As long as there isn't anything major (like noise at Goodwood) it is nearly always fixable - try not to worry too much! Mike
  10. I am pretty sure that is all that has come out so far. MIke

    215 Khumo usage

Not sure I will be that much help as last year I only had 140 bhp (and I am sure I was cleared by the court ) I should also say that I haven't troubled the records with the fastest starts - but even with only 140 bhp - dropping the clutch, even on super softs, just ends up in going nowhere with loads of wheelspin. Most start lines have very little grip with cold tyres. I try to feed the revs and clutch in at the same time to minimise wheelspin and I have a feeling that often a short shift is better after the start. In the wet - dropping the clutch will just be embarassing it wil be interesting to see what happens with 190 bhp 😬 Mike

    Tough decision

It won't be the same without the Listerine Dream (that's the car not the Hoff 😬) in the paddock. Hope you can do a few Robin. Mike
  13. If you have bought the Emerald recently then it is presumably the K3 version, so you will have the right Manual - you can always give Emerald a ring and they will tell you from the serial no. I was up there last week getting mapped on their rolling road and they are not only very good, but very helpful as well. Mike
  14. OK - so does that mean you are going widetrack? I don't know the things you boy swill do to try to ge an edge Mike
  15. Adrian, It might at one time have been DSLs engine, but it has obviously been downgraded to a great extent since then 😬. It no longer has the roller barrels and so that makes a huge difference, as well as having to make do with some sort of feeble aftermarket ecu now. I think I will be very lucky to get anyway near the BHP limit, so you can leave your wig in its box - unless of course it is used for 'dressing up' at home. I have heard about those sort of things 😬 😬 Mike
  16. That's funny, because I am sure Stuart said his is now a pale blue I wonder who it could possible be I am definitely getting a better barrister next time (not that there will be one of course) - but I suppose you get what you pay for 😬 😬 Mike (ex Not an R300)
  17. In case anyone else is interested, I have just had an adaptor made up for connecting the EU3 loom to the EU2 Emerald. I did manage to get a new female EU3 'socket' and sent it with an EU2 connector that I had to these people: Simtek UK Ltd Unit 1 Daniel Street Ind Est Whitworth Rochdale Lancs OL12 8BX UK Tel +44(0)1706 854857 http://www.wiringwinners.com/frames.asp They advertise in the MSA magazine as providers of race electronic services. They were really good to deal with and made a good professional job of it. Although I know others have made this up themselves, it was not something I would want to attempt - which others who know me would say is just as well 😳 If anyone wants a picture blatmail me. They seemed to think that they would be able to source the 'female' EU3 connector in the future so should be able to make up similar adaptors if required. Mike Now with a modest 190bhp (for any Class 4 Sprinters reading this 😬 😬)
  18. I thought all that nonsense had finished!! 😬 😬 I will just have to get my own stickler made up..........again 🙆🏻 Anyway Chris - I don't think you have been exactly standing still...... Mike
  19. I was looking forward to TM being in 4 - but he would only complain that he couldn't see anything 😬 Looks like everything will turn up so I can get the R400 -oh no, that's not right - the 190BHP ready for this year - no really!! As long as I can get the ecu connected up I should be up and running - even got some new super softs on order. Have to watch out for a baby blue 7 though - he has just had his engine rebuilt, so who knows what it will produce eh Stuart Mike
  20. Ok - that's one down - perhaps I won't have to use the full scope of the R400 after all Sorry to hear you won't be there for most of the events, we shall miss retelling the story of the trailer on the IoM 😬 Have a great Summer anyway and see you at Curbs... All the best Mike

    Number Plates

Stuart, Where do you take yours? I have used New Park Garage for the last few years and they have been very sensible. Be useful to know if there is another reliable tester in the area 😬 Mike Edited by - mikes on 8 Jan 2010 16:10:25
  22. That is just another ugly rumour Anyway, what is good enough for a Welsh rugby player....... And, I didn't book the only gay pub in the village!!! Mike
  23. Graeme, There aren't many withing 2.5 hours of Southampton and Portsmouth - I know as I live between Fareham and Southampton. If you want to restrict it to that, there should also be this one Saturday 26 June – Castle Coombe but otherwise the other nearest (I use the term losely!!) are Curborough near Litchfield, MIRA near Nuneaton and Llandow, other side of Cardiff - all of which I can do in about 3 hrs - but that is with the trailer. For all the others I tend to stop over in B&Bs etc - although a number camp . They tell me it is good fun....... Presumably you are on the Isle of Wight - so I suppose your travelling is dependant on ferry times etc as well. Be happy to help if possible. Mike
  24. I was just applauding it as showing what a talented driver could do - obviously not as talented as the driver who won on the Sunday though 😬 😬 Mike
  25. Yeah - well, I have already banned Kate from the garage and threatened to stop her pocket money so that should prevent her from giving any more dubious evidence in court! The results in most classes show that it is not really the machinery that matters - even something with clamshells won an event in Class 3 😬 And at a wetish Harewood on the Saturday it was a lowly Class 3 car that took the honours wasn't it Mark And a sense of humour helps - especially when you have to put up with whippersnappers going on, and on about Saga Seveners and the ridiculous rumours about R300s in Class 3 😬 😬 Mike - Now nearly ready to attack Class 4!
