  1. Hi Mankee, did you sell these injectors? It appears the ones from my 1.6 (0280150740) are going to be a bit on the small side..........?
  2. I have louvred front wings on my car, and have sprinted with them for the last 5 years in Roadgoing, no scrutineer has ever commented about them. They definitely work to allow the air through, as is blatantly obvious in the wet!
  3. When I converted my car from XFlow on carbs to K Series on injection, I used some copper fuel line and just cable tied into the driver's side of the transmission tunnel wherever I could. It won't be pretty, but you can't see it, and it works lol.

I use the 'mini' version in that link from Julian, and is pretty accurate and compares to any of my sprint events. For £20 it is peace of mind
  5. I am selling my 4-1 external 'Race' primaries, collector, and Cheesman silencer complete. It's not the tidiest system you've ever seen, and the tailpipe has a flat ground off the bottom of it due to the rear mount snapping and being dragged around for a lap of Knockhill. But it is all perfectly functional, and records around 101db at any of the events I've entered. £175 + carriage
  6. I think your money would be better spent elsewhere, with more reliability and safety. I use standard Ford open end nuts with connected rotating washers, cheap as chips from any dealership (ask and they may give you some for free as they replace plenty with locking versions), they can't be that heavy, and it's easy for a scrutineer to see how many threads are engaged.
  7. I swapped my imperial FIA rollbar and petty for a Caged Academy cage, and although I didn't weigh them, the full cage is definitely lighter than the single diagonal rollbar
  8. Hi Gav, as someone who encouraged you to go with your silicone hoses, just thought I would continue the positive vibes. My K doesn't run a heater, but I did install a PRRT, and I subsequently knocked the guts out of the standard thermostat, which is probably why I've never suffered with air locks whenever I've disturbed the cooling system. Definitely drill your thermostat and try again from there
  9. Hi there, I had a similar clearance issue when I converted my Imperial S3 from XFlow to K series, and a combination of filing away the pump housing, making sure steering column is as straight as possible, and raising the engine on the mounts sorted it. Keep the faith!
  10. An interesting thread Mankee, I just hope it doesn't spin out of control........
  11. As per the title, does anyone have a set of these spare, or know of a supplier for reasonable money? Cheers!
  12. When I converted my car from XFlow to K series, I swapped to an injection fuel tank with pump inside it, but rather than use the CC fuel filter with the screwed fittings (because it is ridiculously expensive) I used a VW Polo fuel filter with push-on fittings. My advice would be to just butcher the filter out, then replace the pipes either side with push-on versions, and use a similar VW filter which will never give you this much grief ever again, and is much cheaper to replace.
  13. Thanks for all the interest guys, this has now been sold.
  14. Something else gathering dust on a shelf, which would be better out there being used! It has part no. CSP888/5 on it, approx 700mm long, 120mm diameter, and roughly 60mm bore, although I had a reducing sleeve made down to 50mm so that it would fit onto my XFlow manifold, so that would be included aswell. There is also a black heat shield in pretty good nick on it. I will say that this silencer was intended for fitment to the driver's (wrong) side, and I had the mounting lug ground off and turned so that it could be fitted on the passenger (correct) side. It's a pretty neat job, and would only concern the most fervent of polishers. £100 + carriage please.
  15. Over the winter I plan to 'go large' with my car, so the current 1.6 engine will be removed and sold on to release some upgrade funds. It is a strong engine, with no running issues whatsoever, and I'm happy for someone to hear it running before it is removed. Actual miles on the engine is unknown, but I seriously doubt it has more than about 20k on it. In it's current spec with the Jenveys/Emerald/vernier pulleys and long 4-1 manifold it is making around 175bhp and 127lb/ft (depending on dyno). I am running it EU2 with distributor. I will be keeping the vernier pulleys and lightweight flywheel as you would expect. It has a 'high port' 34mm cylinder head. At the very least, this would be an excellent base to use as an upgrade for your own car, then just transplant when you are ready! Any questions, feel free to ask. Price? No reasonable offer refused!

You weren't the guy in Harold's Tyres the other day were you? People were asking if I knew you lol
  17. I've used VT engine and gearbox mounts on my VW Golfs (which are notoriously soft) and had no issues with them, and as far as I know, are still being used by the people who bought those cars off me. I can remember how much more 'solid' the car felt, being able to floor the throttle, change gear (enthusiasticly), and not feel the engine lurching around under the bonnet. The standard CC mounts are very cheap, and as yet, totally reliable, so would need convincing to swap to VT versions.
  18. Thanks for all the interest, a deposit has provisionally secured this gearbox.
  19. With all the recent changes the MSA have brought out for next year, I've decided to sell this ILS 200, 6 speed sequential gearbox. It has been overhauled with all new bearings, seals, and dog rings, by. a WRC transmission specialist, so is ready to go. It was last fitted to a 260 bhp Duratech-powered Caterham racecar, and comes complete with gearstick, mounting cradle with rubber mount, gearshift indicator, and telescoping propshaft. BM me for any questions, I could sort some photos aswell. £2,800 delivered.
  20. Sorry Martyn, had a good look while I was in the workshop today (measuring my bump steer btw), and couldn't find it anyway! Hope you get sorted!
  21. I think I have one of these in the garage, I'll have a looksie. Type 9 gearbox right?
  22. This is a touchy subject for some in here, as 'The Longest-running Thread in Blatchat History' will confirm, but to answer your question "for a 1.8K is it worth doing?", I would answer yes, especially if you spend a lot of time in stationary/slow moving traffic (cities, M25, or sprint paddocks etc), as the lack of system pressure is kinder on head gaskets and plastic-cased radiators. It is also a 'fit for life' product, so does not require changing every two years like conventional products. Unless of course you start to notice a lack of performance, eg, your engine starts to runner hotter or something. FWIW; I've been using the Evans stuff for 3 or 4 years now, in a 1.6K which is mainly used for sprints and hillclimbs, along with public road blats around the Lakes. I think it is fine, but it's your choice.
