    Emerald shift light

Thanks for the link, I plumped for a 10mm, 12v pre-wired with plastic bezel, yellow in colour, £1.99 delivered! I'll give it a go and see how I get on, may even get another in green to swap the old indicator tell-tale bulb, might make me switch it off more often if I can see it flashing lol!

Can you remember where you bought the led and resistor?

    Emerald shift light

Nice one Mankee, I would read the manual if I could find it! I only ever find things when I'm looking for something else.......
  4. I'm using the M3DK version Emerald, and remember there is a 'change gear' option for a shift light in there. Before I go and make a mountain out of a molehill, can anyone advise me about the best way of carrying out this little job, particularly a recommended big, bright led? There seem to be so many different ones to choose from, some requiring resistors etc. Cheers, Les.
  5. With an orange car, I would go for black. If you send me your email address I will sort a couple of pics of my install for you.
  6. I bought a set for my K from SFS too, in classic black. I even incorporated a PRRT with some matching universal bends. Have had no issues in 4 years, plus I use Evans waterless coolant.
  7. New drumsticks are available to replace worn units, so my plan is to remove the standard rack, and then see how difficult it is to disassemble it. If I make a mess of the standard rack, I'll just have to go widetrack lol......
  8. As I'm looking for a 22% narrow track steering rack, I can only find a wide track version, and was wondering whether I could swap my steering arms over to convert this to fit my car? Does anyone have experience of swapping the 'drumsticks', and how difficult/easy was it please?
  9. Hi all, as per the title, does anyone have one needing a good home? Les.

    Sprint success

Well guys, thank you for all your advice and support, I'll certainly have some ideas to take with me through the winter, and then hopefully see some improvements next year! A couple of tweaks to the car, a lot of tweaks to the driver, and a P.M.A. Lol! I look forward to meeting a few of you at a L7C sprint..........

    Re-build costs

I refreshed my Type 9 a few years ago now, including a long first gear, and shorter 5th, lube mod to 2nd gear, and stronger synchro for 3rd and 4th, all new bearings etc. Was about £500 + fitting. The ratios worked well for the XFlow at the time, but not as good when I swapped to K power. I now run a CC 6 speed.

    Sprint success

Hi guys, thanks for your comments so far. For those who don't know my car; it's a narrow track S3 DD, 1.6 K with Jenveys and Emerald, SS cams and vernier pulleys. Recently upgraded to Quantum dampers with 130/200 springs. I use 7" front and 8" rear CXR's with Kumho V70. Standard calipers all round, 1144 front pads, standard rears. I have two videos posted on YouTube, the first from Anglesey two weeks ago, the second from Saturday, before my bullet cam decided to stop working! I only started using the cam at Anglesey, and my username name is 'ksupersprint', please be gentle! I did trash my front tyres at Anglesey, struggling with understeer due to a lack of camber in the turns (the left front wheel was apparently going to positive in the turn), so we altered the spacers in the bottom wishbones to give as much caster as possible. We then found there was an imbalance left to right (wheelbase different side to side), so cut the rear mount off the passenger bottom wishbone, and welded a rod end on instead, which gave slightly more adjustment to give even caster/camber both sides (3 deg caster and 1.5 deg camber in the turn IIRC) I'm running parallel toe. Admittedly, I should have replaced my front tyres for Harewood, but with only this weekend and a sprint at Kames left to do this season, I thought I would be ok, bearing in mind I should be mostly running on a part of the tyres previously unused! I'll probably stick my road wheels on for Kames (med compound A048's on 6" +7" Minilites) and just see how the car feels with some even rubber on it. I probably will appear at some L7C events next year, along with taking some tuition from somewhere. Cheers Les

    Sprint success

Hi guys, I'm just back from a frustrating weekend sprinting at Harewood, and feeling pretty cheesed off if I'm honest. I seem to have reached a plateau with my performance, and am struggling to improve my times. Could the POBC give me their thoughts on how much boils down to natural ability/kahoonas/chassis set-up/the 'best' tyres/success by repetition please? Thanks in advance

Met you driving through Plumpton on the A6, Friday afternoon. I was driving the Snapon van :-)
  16. When it comes to tyre pressures, the best advice is to buy yourself a quality pressure gauge, only ever use that to measure your pressures (to keep consistency over accuracy of calibration), and then play with your pressures until you're happy with how the car feels on the road, and how your tyres are wearing. Whatever the indicated pressure on YOUR gauge gives you the best overall results, stick with that, and ignore what anyone else says.
  17. Simon, YHM. Nick, no worries, mine are EU2 and I have dyno read outs to show their performance.
  18. I have a pair of standard front calipers spare, if you're not sorted yet
  19. Nick. If you're not in a hurry, I will have a pair available at the end of the year. Simon. What profile is the R400? Is it the same as vhpd?
  20. Hi Richard, I have both in my spares collection, but I'd like to keep the red one for myself in case I decide to swap for the orange bar currently fitted. I'll happily let the green one go though, and could possibly get it to you via Graham Denholm? Regards, Les.
  21. Pretty much any multimeter will suffice for such basic testing, just make sure the buzzer is loud enough for continuity testing
  22. The odd thing is; the MSA actually state in the Blue Book, under the List 1b tyres heading, that 'only E-marked tyres are valid' ????
  23. "Nationwide harmonisation and cost, for what is seen as the entry category" is the wording I believe the MSA has used as the reasoning behind this proposed change of ruling. Now then, the 'nationwide harmonisation' for our cars is kind of sorted, as I generally only see the road going classes on either Kumho V70A, or Avon ZZR or ACB10. As for cost; apart from accidental damage (flat spots incurred by brake lock-ups or DD tube failure), my tyres will last for 3 seasons, so I don't think that's expensive, or wasteful, compared to say gravel rally tyres. I do appreciate though, that heavier tin tops will wear soft compound tyres much quicker, but that shouldn't mean we should be penalised to keep their costs down? I would be happy to accept a nationwide ruling along the lines of; only tyres fitted as a vehicle manufacturer option (eg CR500) for road use, over an outright ban of List1b. As a footnote; my V70a's have both the 'E4' marking, and road legal wear markings on them, not to mention tread pattern to dissipate water, so how can they suddenly be judged illegal/not permissible/a racing tyre?
