Unless you are trying to extract the very last ounce of power out of the engine, I don't think it will make a big difference, certainly a lot less than changing to a 4-2-1 system. The down pipes and collector should be fine, just measure the diameter of the pipes and the length of your exisiting silencer and select something that will fit. Thin wall automotive cable or trailer cable is much better. Do you want this on a switch so you can turn it off etc? It would not be very difficult to do if you have any skill in electrics. take a feed from a fused supply that is switched by the ignition and run to a switch, then to the +Ve feed on the light strip then earth the -ve of the strip. It WILL remove powder coating unless it is washed off in time. I used copious amounts of NM in conjunction with wire wool to strip my suspension and roll cage powder coating. Mankee, It is easy to remove the cables from the Handbrake lever, but it depends how the cable is secured in the tunnel. You may have a couple of P-Clips in there that need to be taken off. Should be 2 bolts holding this to the chassis, one large one through the centre of the handle and the other trough the ratchet. Check it is still there, also clean and oil the button and ratchet mech as CaterBram said above. Really simple to take off and dissassemble, clean and re-assemble again. I was running 300lbs springs and Gaz on the front and 125's on the back (live Axle). Just moved to AVOs and will run the same spring rates. Gaz were fine for me. Mine is similar, I thought it was a miss aligned clip, but waht you will find is that the scuttle may need moving slightly. Line the bonnet up on the rear clips and fasten, then the fronts and see if the rear of the bonnet is parallel to the scuttle, if not then you need to losen off the scuttle retaining nuts in the channels and adjust the scuttle position until square, then it should line up ok. Edit: Aparently a new long front can be done without a total strip so my inital estimate is a tad high, probably cut it back by £2k so £3k-£4k to fix. I am tempted as a new project but funds are targeted for other things at the moment. Quick estimate would be about £6k to get this back as new (if doing it all yourself).. So a worthy prospect.. As the others say, probably worth more than your figure in parts, but do you want the pain of stripping, cleaning, listing, selling/posting etc. I am gutted for you that you can't now rebuild her as it is an amazing feeling to strip, rebuild and drive again. Terry, Take a plug out and see if it is sparking and how bright the spark is. If it looks good then turn your attention to the fuelling. Could be a blocked filter or simply the pump was not primed if you have left it for a while. Another possibility is "old fuel" is the car has stood for a long time. Next time you try to start it, remove the plugs and let the fuel pump run for a few seconds (Mine changes noise when the fuel bowls fill up and close the needle valves) then turn the engine over and check the plugs are sparking. Replace the plugs, pump the accelerator a few times (2 or 3) then try to start. If you have no spark then check all connections, the dizzy and amp module etc. Do you have a rev limiter fitted ? Watch out for the exhaust pipe as it tends to get a bit warm and would not be great for the vinyl.. What is the cost for a wrap ? A full spray should be under £700. Skip, The transmission tunnel can easily be widened at the drivers hip with a suitable wooden former (a bit of 2x2) and a mallet. 10 minute job. RS2000 1/2 shafts are £15 - £30 each second hand and should take all the abuse you can throw at them, no shims are required. Crownwheel and pinion sets are around £250 with a lot of ratios to choose from. Possibility to convert to rear disc breaks if desired. Also Alloy Diff nose available to save a lot of weight. Wide choice of LSD units. Not to mention the stuff Steve Perks is doing at SPC for the axle. There are many positives for going to an English Axle.
