  1. If you have a mechanical fuel pump it could be that. Had a similar problem with my old car would missfire if running above 60mph for a few mins or when I accellorated hard. Was due to the mixture going weak due to a tired fuel pump. I changed all the plugs, leads, dizzy cap etc before changing the fuel pump. Edited by - John Hughes on 18 Mar 2012 22:10:15
  2. I have used one of these on boats (they don't have a sump plug), did the Discovery through the dip stick (took a while even with warm oil, useful on gearboxes too. Brass oil pump
  3. Hurry up Tom, you've already missed the first Blat of the year *smile*
  4. I would be very surprised if you could get a seal without using a cork gasket. Saying that some times it is difficult to get a good seal using the gasket and non hardening gasket sealer
  5. Are you sure it isn't just a crossflow *smile*
  6. That's a pain in the 🙆🏻 then isn'tit
  7. Peter I'm pretty sure if the sensor has a 22mm "nut" then a Lambda socket would be just the job to remove it without having to remove the manifold etc.
  8. Have you tested or changed the expansion bottle cap ?
  9. Steve I don't think you can put the prop shaft in from the rear it has to go into the tunnel before the gearbox and engine go in.
  10. I think GL5 has a higher sulphur content and it reacts with the bronze synchro rings
  11. I am interested in the wheels and tyres depending on condition. How old is the unused tyre.
  12. One of the LADS. needed to put over 15 litres of fuel in the tank before his would run ? Edited by - John Hughes on 16 Jan 2012 19:52:28
  13. I think it's coz the plates are now "organic" based and not asbestos
  14. My clutch (Sigma 125) smells of rotten fish when it get's hot. Nothing like the smell of old fashioned asbestos based hot clutch / brakes. Works fine though
  15. The bridge is rarely a problem unless they have coned the lanes, though last year there was one occasion when coming home they were shutting it for 30 min then running convoys each way. I know Grassendale well, lived in St.Michaels-in-the-Hamlet when I was at Uni.
  16. Hi Steve Bring it to MADS at the Ring O'Bells at Daresbury on the last Wednesday of the month and you will be able to get several differing opinions of what the possible cause could be 😬 Where are you in sunny Merseyside ?
  17. I was keeping quie about this, as Peter says I managed to break the clip. You really need to see one apart to understand how it clips together. There have been a couple of postings in Techtalk which seem to make it sound as easy as prising the clip out with a thumb nail - don't believe them.
  18. Jim You need to look at the set up in a car, the belts lie on top of the seat squab. You don't actually notice you are sitting on them. Caterham belts have 6 fixings to the chassis and 5 metal clips at the quick release. May be in mine at MADS Wed if the weather is dry
  19. The rose jointed A frame reduces the resistance to roll to almost zero it certainly doesn't increase it. Had one on my previous live axle car - used on the road for over 6,000 miles with no problems. As the rubber bushes degrade the shock loads increase, I suspect it is this that starts the damage to the bracket on the axle which then fails after the change to the rose jointed item.
  20. Volumetric efficiency is not anything like 100% so will not need the volume you have calculated.
  21. Eugene You need to be careful as some Cateye's only read upto 60mph then it all goes pear shaped. The Strada wired will manage upto 125mph. Some cyclists must have big thighs (and BOLOX) to manage that even downhill. Suspect even a certain 7 co-owner would struggle too 😬 😬 😬
  22. Cateye Strada gets my vote too Edited by - John Hughes on 30 Oct 2011 21:52:54
  23. Nick Will bring them to LADS next week
  24. Nick I may have some stainless ones in the garage if you are not in a rush until next week. Will check when I get home later, John
