  1. Where is this located; behind the engine? Is it full diameter hose or about 1" I had a problem with the plastic joiner in the 1" ish diameter hose that passes behind the engine. It had been butchered during disassembly/reassembly and had broken half way through - in line with the jubilee clip, so can't be seen externally. Unfortunately I only discovered this while driving, but luckily noticed the water temp increasing and shut it off. The friendy AA man fixed me up, but I then replaced the plastic joiner with a metal one. 2. High strength steel parts on aircraft (Shock struts and hydraulic rams) are routinely chromium plated - can't think of any obvious reasons why you shouldn't chrome a roll bar. Maybe PC knows why BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)

  5. Do they make you walk funny too BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  6. Thanks Dave and John. I'd pretty much decided to stay with the six, though I think a service might be adviseable. I'll give R&R a call on Tuesday and maybe they can fit a short shaft too BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 7. I don't know how much narrower it is compared to the SV- by that amount I guess. BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  8. Thanks Mark. As the 6 speed is now out of the car this is the time to make the decision. I'd hate to put it all back together and THEN wish I'd gone for a 5 speed. I have a 3.62 diff - I think! I've noticed that the BGH 5 speeds have an overdrive 5th. Apart from that, comparing the ratios in the 6 speed, there's not that much difference. I don't want to spend £1000-ish for a 5 speed for nothing, particularly as I think for my use the 6 speed will be OK. If you don't mind, could you drop me an e-mail concerning the Quaife 5 speed; and what is a semi helical box? 9. Just the Pace dry sump and the 4-2-1 exhaust left now 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  10. I'm about to swap my 1.8 K-Series (150 bhp) engine for a 230 bhp 2.0L Duratec. People seem to specify a 5 speed box with a Duratec. I have a 6 speed box which is now sitting on the garage floor ready to re-instal. The box has done 43,000 miles since May 2003, mostly on the road. There are no apparent problems with it - the change is nice and there are no strange noises. (Aren't earplugs worderful?) Mind you, a couple of curly pieces of steel swarf came out with the oil Even though the 6 speed box is not necessary with a Duratec, I don't really want to spend money on a 5 speed unecesarily - I don't mind changing gear and I could always miss a gear or two. Current thought process: 1. Clean-up the 6 speed and reinstal it. 2. Send it off for a check and refurbish (BGH or Road & Race - phone on Tuesday for advice & cost). 3. Part exchange it for a 5 speed (Looks like close to a grand). Any thoughts or previous experience? 11. I've just removed mine and there is a hole on the tunnel - essential access to remove/fit the switch and access for the right angled femal bullet connecters. 12. Jorgen YHM The one I have for sale came from CBS. It's done 42,000 miles but when I checked the stuffing last April it was still in perfect condition 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 13. It's where I got mine, though I made the order over the phone. That P/N was listed on the invoice, though it's not listed in the catalogue either. Give them a call and that way you'll get a hefty discount too BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 16. Sorry Geoff, very rude of me not to reply - my only excuse is that my ibox is a bit crowded. I've sold the TB's - you were third in date/time order. Jenvey DTHTB's don't come with trumpets, they're part of the Aibox kit BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 17. You're correct Tony. I was afraid you had your Clevis mixed-up with your split. I seem to remember that in the US they call what we know as a split pin a clevis pin. I guess the clutch clevis pin gets more wear than the brake one. Although it's non critical, compared to the brake, it could be a tad embarrassing if it broke Just something else to include during regular maintenance BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 18. No idea I'm afraid. Simon sweet talked me into having it fitted while my 7 was at CC having its CRB replaced "... might as well, seeing as the engine is out already ..." It's Sold, by the way 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  19. Just to make sure:- The clevis pin is the pin that attaches the cable to the top of the pedal. The split pin stops the clevis pin from falling out Section 9, Page 5, Fig 4 in my Assembly Guide. 20. I think RJ is concerned about the weight BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  21. Just removed the cable from the clutch pedal and noticed mild wasting of the clevis pin. Not in any danger of snapping, but surprising wear after only 42,000 miles in nearly four years. Might be worth an inspection BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  22. RJ, The Verniers are indeed red, but are four spoke. Is there a difference in effectiveness between three and four spoke?
