  1. TPS is what you want. It is not only less hassle but also a better solution from a technical point of view. The "vacuum signal" in a manifold behind a set of double webers is not very stable. Good luck with the conversion. You will not regret it. Cheers jorgen
  2. Upper wishbones looks funny and the exhaust is special too. wonder what the stry behind this is. Doesnt seems cheap to me. why would be any better than other xflow cars that has been maintained well.

Bri: Just curious, why wold you want to use such low ratios. My 4 speed xflow car has a 3,6 diff ratio which is well suited for for road use. With 185/70*13 tyres i am doing some 65 miles per hour at a little over 4000 rpm. Cheers Jorgen
  4. Jenvey can help you with manifold and very short throttle bodies. I am sure they will will fit isnde the bonnet, but you will compromise the power and torque of the engine due to less than ideal inlet tract length. Take a lokk at the Jenvey webpage. For the ECU i would suggest a DTA, preferably a S60 that gives a lot of nice features, datalogging, and a superb user interface. I guess if you just hand your car to someone for mapping that doesnt make much of a diference. Racelien could also be a source for a complete ecu, throtle body solution. I even think their omex ecu comes complete with a suitable map for a standard engine.
  5. You can only judge if your spark plug is the right by looking at it if you are sure the the fule mixture is right. Otherwise deposits could be from to rich a mixture
  6. There is a procedure that involves measuring resistance, but i am not really sure how. Its been covered before so suggest you search the archives. Or somebody with more knowledge will come along in a minute a help.

    Engine Upgrade

The axle should be fine with that sort of power. In the end your driving style will have more influence on your axle than the power of you car. If you drive it hard enough i m sure you can break an ital axle with less power. Just my 2P of wisdom. Oh and by the way I am putting some 150 bhp through my ital axle with no problems, but then i dont use all the power all the time. Cheers Jorgen
  8. you can get a converter to 230V that plug into a cigaret lighter socket. then just bring your normal power supply for your laptop and you are ready to go. Provided you have a lighter socket. If you dont its an easy install and usefull for many applications. cheers jorgen
  9. There is a fuel filter between the fuel tank and the engine so what is not caught in the filter sock at the pump is going to be filtered before the fuel gets to the engine (injectors) I did empty my tank the same way. No problem at all. But in general when messing with flammables go outside and have some kind of fire fightting equipment at hand.
  10. Just one thought having read Alex advise regarding the timing strobe. If you run wasted spark, which presumably you will, the strobe must be able to handle this. I am to tired now to work out the right explanation why but i guess it is more or less evident that when you put the clamp of the strobe light around one of the plug leads that particular lead will see double the number of pulses so the timing figure you read on the instrumet will be wroong. Sorry i cant explain it any better right now but i am sure you get the point or somebody will come along and explain it better. Another warning. The small stell pin you use to locate the trigger wheel against the pulley can break. It is the only time in 6 years time of owner ship I had the car taken home on a flat bed when that happend. It does not drive very well when suddenly the trigger wheel rotates. Mine now has a small tack welding to keep it in the right position. Cheers Jorgen
  11. Be warned. Innocate LC1 can be a tricky thing to install. There are all sorts of grounding issues and the product itself is not very good quality. I went through two of them before i got one that gives me an accurate signal And that one still refuses to be programmed. It simply says acces denied no matter what. On the DTA forum there are all sorts of horro stories about LC1 and even on the official innovate forum there are stories of malfunction. Having said that supposedly there are quite a few people her who use them with good results. Another lotus club member from over here use a PLX controller which apparently is a lot better and much more stable to fit and operate. Cheers Jorgen
  12. As everybody else says. Very worth while upgrade. I haven taken mine a bit further and gone fuel injected with jenvey throtle bodies and a DTA ECU. My best gues is that of the two improvements: "ignition timing and fuel injection" ignition timing gives you quite a bit more than 50% of the improvements. Of course your carbs needs to be set up properly but i guess that is obvious. Buy the proper trigger wheel and TPS. You spend a littele more money but it makes the job a lot easier and the installation look more prefessional. I have a complete TPS kit from webcon left from my conversion from carbs to TB´s it your are interested give me a shout on jorgen dot falkboll at tiscali dot dk Good luck with the project. Cheers Jorgen
  13. Did some more measuring today. I am sure the pipercross airbox will not fit, what ever way you fit it. I think the pipercross airbox looks pretty good and not to small provided we are talking less than 200 bhp. If you want to run long trumpets you have a problem but otherwise it should be ok. Just a shame it wont fit Jorgen
  14. I have looked at the pipercross 600 series airbox. But I am quite sure it will not fit. There is a chance if you go for the left hand model. This will put the airfilter facing towards the pedal box. But again i dont think there is enough clearance. There is a few do it yourself airboxes out there. I am sure someone else will come along with more advice. If you find o good solution ill be glad to hear about it. Jorgen
