  1. The only item I'm keeping is the catch tank - otherwise it is complete. If you don't have an SV, you'll have to get a narrow 7 R/H engine mount from Pace - maybe you could do a swap with my SV one BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 2. Hmmm - some interest. BOSS 😬 I should have added "First come, first served" I live near Aylesbury, Bucks. If that's any help BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)

  4. RJ, What difference does the colour make I think they're red. I also think they are three spoke. The engine is in the process of being removed so I can't yet gain access for a look because the dry sump tank is in the way. Luv a duck! 8. Simon Lambert tells me that he has been told it is M14 x 1.5 Peter at Raceline also seemed to remember it was M14 too I'll give "Think" a call to hopefully make it unani-mouse BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 9. John Strickland, a 7 owner, but not a member, has e-mailed me that it is 1/4 BSP. It doesn't "Sound" right, but info in the "Think" catalogue backs-it-up ("BSP and NPTF are defined by the bore of the hose they fit). The bore of the metal part of the rubber hose fitting is indeed 1/4 Thanks John. I was told by Peter at Raceline that "Think" know what size it is - just tell them what it's for and don't forget to request your L7C discount if you decide to have them make-up the hose for you. I did consider fastening a new piece of hose to the female fitting with hose clips, but decided that wouldn't be a particularly good idea. 10. Anyone know the thread size and type on the connector at the engine bay copper fuel line to the flexible pipe? 2003 SV BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
  11. Run my Pace dry sump sealed - on the advice of Oily and Matthew at Think Automotive. It does "Cluck" at idle (At least that's the only time I can hear it), but that doesn't seem to have any affect. I vent the Brise in-front-of-the-engine oil tank to the catch tank, mounted to the front of the heater. 14. here will get you started 😬 This whole thread contains lots of information - you might want to start at the begining - but it is when we all first met oilman - didn't realise it was so long ago. Relax Anthony, life's too short. I'm sure nobody was trying to be rude. We Engrish folks just naturally yank peoples chain. Some comments on a thread are not even addressed to the thread poster. 50 C is, I'm sure your be advised elsewhere, is not hot enough. 15. Hi Anthony I agree with you; there are a few contributors who do tend to "Jump all over" - in the nicest possible way of course, some postings. To put this current thread into context so that you, as a relative newcomer, may perhaps appreciate a certain lack of interest in another engine oil thread - about a year or so ago there was "Shed loads" of engine oil information posted. Lots of very knowledgeable scientific sources were quoted and the entire series was not only warmly received, but added to the readers knowledge base considerably. If you search for engine oil or oilman, you'll be able to read what we did. One of your quotes in particular caught my eye: over time, engine oil will drain down and leave the engine unprotected - that's why you have decided to run your engine every week. No harm in that, you might think and it would prevent the oil draining down. How long do you run the engine if you are unable to drive the car? I assume you do this at idle rpm - do you monitor the engine temperature? Water or oil temperature? You may be doing quite a lot of harm to your engine by doing this if certain guidelines are not followed. Combustion produces quite a lot of water and if you don't get the engine hot enough when you run it every week, some of this water will remain within the engine and do far more harm that if you hadn't run it. I've bought an engine from a scrap yard which had been sitting in the open for a long time. The exposed parts were quite heavily corroded, but the internals still had a nice film of oil We all have to be very careful which advice we follow 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. 17. Not yet removed from car and still available. 18. Slight O/T, with the straight exhaust through the bonnet, is it necessary to add additional bonnet catches or does it remain rigid enough with the required cut-out? 23. Behind the grille of a black unmarked Vauxhall - oh no! He was lecturing some bikers about speeding when I roared-by at the North end of the B4011 - so keep your eyes open guys. Luckily I only got 9 points worth of ear bending lecture and the ignominy of my 7 being called a toy, in a very sneering manner. to the Bib. I was and remain suitably chastened - narrow escape. 25. The rolling road plot from Emerald shows 147 bhp / 6129 and 137 lb ft / 5046. I was disapointed and Oily was surprised - we were expecting more bhp (and I never could figure-out why Dave Walker kept spraying aerosol grease on the back tyres to stop wheel-spin. "Hey Dave, do you know this is grease?" He is the expert and assured me it was the right stuff) However, as I have no idea of the actual standard output, I was more than satisfied by the perceived improvement and considered the modifications to be good value for money. I think the gain in peak torque and its flatness from 2750rpm is the reason for the much better throttle response, acceleration and smoothness. The lightened flywheel and the 4-2-1 exhaust, as well as the ECU and TB's, all play their part - I definately wouldn't want to go back to the standard set-up 😬 The reason I advertised the whole set-up for sale so early is to give prospective purchasers the chance to try it out - once it's out of the car to make-way for the Duratec - it'll be like buying a puss in a bag 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away.
