  1. Who/What/Where is Makro and are these any good? Do they do location by postcode? Do they have voice instructions? Any experiences (of the unit) greatfully received.
  2. The wallpaper on the first page of the gallery is of a superlight/R400 race car with bonnet cut out.
  3. I meant new academy cars as the old ones had twin webbers with a cut out!
  4. Carb fed models and the JPE had a bonnet cut out largely because the set up required greater width than available under the bonnet. You will not have seen this set-up in the academy only in the Superlights/R400 racers. The problem with it is noise ie a cutout allows more induction noise out and could cause problems on quieter ciruicts. That said more cold air is good.

    Avon ZV1's

15" CR500 is a good all round tyre and also nice a light.

Good for what? There is no way you want to replace CR500's with ZV1's as they are so much harder.
  7. Guys I would guess you would be in for a long wait. I can't imagine why anyone would be taking on off? What would they be upgrading too?
  8. Very definately and Ital axle.
  9. Settling a disagreement on pistonheads bertie? 😬
  10. Race car helments have different approvals (ie those for racing) this means if you do any racing, hillclimbing, sprinting etc. that requires certain standards of approval a motorbike lid will not suffice. Race car helmets tend to have a narrower visor as well. Some are designed for windscreenless cars or single seaters which may mean they have a fixed or removeable "duckbill" which prevents the helmet from being pulled upwards by the airflow. This can be a serious problem if you are going 100+ on the track.
  11. Armorall (might not be the right spelling) Tyre Foam. This gives you the new car shiny tyres.
  12. 6 speed gearbox: Yes go for it! It is expensive to retro fit and it really makes the most of the car. Uprated brakes: What are you going to do with the car? The uprated brakes are v. good (AP racing make them) but depends on how much track stuff you want to do. The 15" wheels are a good wheel for the SV as they are bigger than standard but still nice and light and come with CR500 tyres which are a fabulous all rounder for a Caterham (good on road and track and not rubbish in the wet). 16" wheels look nice but are heavy and they come with very hard tyres and there aren't really any good seven tyres available in this size. Track day rollbar good if you plan and L7Club track days. Anti-Cavitation oil tank is a sensible precaution if you are doing a couple of track days. Go for leather seats as they are easier to dry if they get wet and expensive to upgrade to I believe.
  13. I believe that as well as being higher octane Optimax has some other clever chemistry that means it burns at the same rate as normal octane petrol. Normal high octane burns slower I think. This could all be gibberish! 😬
  14. Won't screw up the road manners but it will be noisier!
  15. X-Stream red is the new improved version of Coldstream (or just re-branding)
  16. The showroom must have some? Try asking and see if they can get it for you. I am sure I purchased some there once
  17. No they don't. The only one I have seen like that is Bowsers and he must have ordered it specially.
  18. I would go Comma Lite and then Comma Motorsport as 7heavensoon recommends. It saves hassle and I have it on good authority that the Motorsport stuff IS specially formulated just for Caterham.
  19. Oh Peter was talking about BC derived V8's! 😳 That explains it.
  20. I believe that although light the KV6 is rather large to go in even an SV seven. I think the steering rack would be a problem.
  21. Peter shhhh Since when have we let fact get in the way of a good debate? A Quantum Extreme is definately not a seven!
  22. True but when the engine only weighs 90KG in the first place it is less important. If you could get some lovely titanium exhausts made (Ammo perhaps) then it wouldn't be quite such a penalty.
