  1. I found exactly the same on my R400, it was just toos stiff for the average ropey british B road. I felt it was the rears which were too stiff, which on an R400 are M2 spec, which is between noraml M0 and race M1 I'm told. After playing with AVOs and other springs, I had a discussion with Simon and I swapped to Meteor Nitrons with dual springs and it's night and day! So another vote for Simon @ Meteor.
  2. Is this still for sale? Any pics??
  3. What cars / years does this apply to then?
  4. I'm just in the exact same predicament myself! My R400 needs a new set, I do very little mileage so durability isn't an issue, just want the best tyre I can get for road / track. I had A048 on my last car and loved them, the CR500s on currently seem to go off after a few laps on track. Is the concensus that ZZR are the best available then?
  5. Update to bring the thread full circle... Received my Nitrons from Simon @ Meteor, fitted them at the weekend and set the car up as he suggested. Wow, what a differance!! I can't believe the change its made to the way the car feels, so much more planted, much more feel and feedback, but also much more comfortable. Gone is the patter and high frequency jiggle through the car and steering I used to get. I'm very happy, yes they aren't cheap but sometimes you do get what you pay for!!

There is something deeply satisfying about a large V8 in a smallish car! My wife has t BMW M3 with the 4.0 V8 in and it's just awesome at everything! E92 M3 is a great all round car, i ran one for 2 years before the X6, the engine was just sublime We are going o/t from an o/t here but you are bang on! The DCT box is great too. If I had to get rid of all my cars and could only keep one it would have to be the M3 as it just can do everything , fit the kids in, cruise, wife can bumble about in it, but you can also light it up and go like hell. Great car.
  7. Quoting 7 wonders of the world: bertie, I agree, the cheap ones make the ECU see cold running values by alter the duration, some really cheap ones are merely a resistor in a box giving a false value to the ECU from the coolant NCT. However I've not seen inside some of the circe £300 units that offer multi maps or adaptive features hence the post to gain other members expirences compared to my full remap with Superchips. The DTUK boxes and the like just plug in line with the CR pressure sensor and alter the value the ECU sees thus upping the fuel rail pressure, they don't go anywhere near or alter anything in the ECU at all. There are versions that intercept injector pulses, but IMHO you either do a proper job and remap it with DMS or Superchips, or don't bother. These add on boxes don't have to meet any of the OEM design rules and don't go though the product validation for OEM. I wouldn't trust them. Edited by - bertie on 27 Apr 2012 21:48:23

  9. Quoting 7 wonders of the world: Most of the cheap £80 boxes only alter the values the ECU sees in relation to cold running and hence overfuel etc etc, the more expensive ones should be altering more sites and parameters since they claim to offer adaptive features. Intgeresting comments regarding DTUK though too, Taffyracer - thanks for the steer, just sent Simon and email not a million miles from me either. otherwise I'll stick to Superchips as I've been very happy with my current upgrade. The cheap plug in obxes I've seen only plug into the common rail fuel pressure sensor so alter nothing more than that as I said. Rubbish!!

    Hi-Spec pads

Some time ago before I had my R400 I had a Sport 160 Elise and I bit the bullet and swapped onto Pagid blue pads, and they were awesome!! Bloody expensive but worth every penny on track!
  12. Quoting charlie_pank: the fuel pressure in all my injected petrol engines is determined by a that controls the return at the end of the fuel rail. Is the pressure regulator is variable and ECU controlled in CR diesels? This assumes you have an un controlled pump running flat out all the time and th regulator bleeds excess back to the tank via the return line to maintain a constant pressure. On a CR Diesel the fuel pressure rail has a sensor on the end that sends feedback to the ECU and the ECU controls the pump to maintain the desired pressure. With diesel you are talking massive pressures, so the idea of having a constant running pump and controlling the pressure by a regulator that returns the excess to the tank is hugely wasteful of energy and would froth the fuel. I believe (although I could be wrong!) that direct injection petrol as opposed to manifold / throttle injection, works the same. Edited by - bertie on 27 Apr 2012 21:28:40
