  1. Hmmm, am I reading this correctly....... You have the fuel tank then the filter then the fuel pump, is this correct? If it is correct remove the filter and see what happens??? Does fuel then exit the pump?
  2. I fill my 95 car the way Jonathan and ECR describe

What a wealth of information this forum is
  6. I have the 'open' system on my xflow and in hot weather, in traffic, the temperature does rise considerably. I have fitted a fan overide switch to switch the fan on before the fan kicks in but on the odd occasion I have needed to 'pull over' and let things cool down. Would a sealed system have any effect on an old engine? Is there a simple numpty guide to installing a sealed system? Interesting thread this.
  7. I purchased a new pair of Spitfire calipers from a well known classic car 'spares shop' last year, they are now in the bin. After numerous telephone conversations complaining about their performance (very long and soft pedal feel) and being told that I had been supplied with the incorrect bleed screws and that I hadn't tightened the bleed screws tight enough and then I had over tightened them I gave in and rebuilt the old ones. I must point out that the new ones I purchased were not original Girling they were some aftermarket copy from wherever! So just beware where you purchase from and what you get.
  8. My 1995 xflow front springs are stamped (Eibach13/02 Caterham Cars 75511). I think they are 170 lb (but I only think that).
  9. I'll try the red rubber grease option first and then the different caliper option if it fails. Are the Hi-Spec calipers a straight replacement? Thanks 7 wonders and everyone else.
  10. I rebuilt my calipers with new pistons, seals, covers etc about 3 years ago. I've had a 'sticking' piston recently and stripping the caliper down it looks like crud and dirt has seeped under the dust cover and caused the piston to rust. So, I'll rebuild and ....... Is there anything I can use, Vaseline, copper slip or whatever to smear inside the dust cover to try to combat the problem.

  16. My '95' car had flat screens from new. The roof/hood is also different depending on the type of screens/doors.
  17. Clutching at straws.......how about putting the old coil and amplifier back and see what happens. ie eliminate what may be a faulty new component.
  18. Van tyres! I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I want to keep the 70 profile (185/70x13) so I'll probably try the Uniroyal Rain Experts.
  19. Sorry to steal this thread, but.....what are these tyres like for road use?
  20. 1997 1600K ....... Not Ital PCD then?
