Alan Archer
Do any of you wear a windproof fleece/windstopper or lightweight windproof jacket when driving, if so please share what is a decent one? Thanks
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 22, 2016 Member Share Posted June 22, 2016 Our favourite lightweight waterproof jackets are Berghaus Gore-Tex Paclites. All the family have them, they're heavily used for walking because they are so light, and they work well in the 7 because they have no bulk. But very little insulating value. For some reason the price varies a lot.Beyond that it's the flying jacket.Jonathan
SM25T
Go to Cotswold Outdoor in St Mary Cray. Your L7C card gets a 15% discount ... but not on sale prices. Big choice. I have a super lightweight windproof top from Rab. Also windproof fleeces from Paramo and Rohan. Alternative store is Go Outdoors at Lakeside. Buy one year membership for about £5 to get the discounted prices in store. Huge range too.
Titanium7
Sprayway Gortex single layer jacket and or a lined wind proof golf jumper are my normal weapons of choice. These cover most /Spring/Autumn/ blats.

alan c
Musto Snug jacket covers wide range of temperatures for me, or just a soft shell top when warmer.
Dobson_justin
I have a Craft jacket, it is very thin but warm enough and windproof, and great quality. Perfect for the

john aston
RAB - brilliant - really improved my enjoyment of driving on cold days. 100% wind and waterproof=- Cotswold outdoors.
Alan Archer
Thanks for all the suggestions, are the club blade jackets actually wind proof?
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted June 23, 2016 Area Representative Share Posted June 23, 2016 I have been using a previous generation of Club soft-shell jacket and it certainly windproof. It's fairly lightweight (but won't crush into a pocket), for me it's far too windproof for summer (I'll sweat underneath in the sun) as there isn't sufficient ventilation. Great for autumn, winter with layers underneath and spring and as tough as you like. Soft-shell are fabulous value, tough and shrug off creases when you pull them out from the corner it got shoved in. This is why they have become popular quickly. They may not be Goretex level waterproof but I find that Goretex isn't particularly effective in a Seven because of the effect of the seatbelts. Alan Archer
Thanks, not worried about waterproof, I already have that covered (not a tin top either), it is just the windproof bit I am after.
SM25T
Whatever you get .... sort that errant bit of your harness that rips jackets before wearing new jacket.
Foggy
Have a look at Jack Wolfskin stuff. Waterproof, windproof, breathable and a lot with removable fleece liners. I've got jackets and footwear that are 15 years old ans still going strong!

Alan Archer
Yes, thanks Ian, I will try and cheer you up sometime as well. It was only the wire spring that had come out from behind the webbing, took 5 seconds to rectify, wrecked a £300 jacket I have been looking at the JW stuff along with all the others. Robert Cadiz
This is my favourite, used on the motorbike and in the Caterham. Scrunces up tiny so will fit in a pocket.http://www.edzlayering.com/product/mens-windshell-innershell-top-black-grey-zip/
SJD
Another vote for Berghaus Gore Tex Paclite . Worked well at Goodwood yesterday.
Alan Archer
I really want a softshell type, I already have a goretex waterproof one. I was hoping that maybe there would have been some of the club ones on sale at the Legends of Brands Hatch event, but apparently not.

Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted June 24, 2016 Area Representative Share Posted June 24, 2016 Check the diary for where the ESV will be. At Dunsfold on 2 July, at Silverstone Classic 29, 30,31 July. Are you going to either of these events? The current range is low on stock because there will be a new range for 2017 (details to be decided).
