  1. If you are near Brands at any time pop in for a free weighing and a definite figure. Best to give us a ring first to make sure we are in though, and a small tip is that we work quicker if there are donuts about!

    SVR stuff!

Chelspeed stop that ! I have convinced Gary I am the brains of the business. No one else is convinced though. Our supertrack Duratec car is almost ready and I must admit it would be nice to get it on the track at the same time as the factory car. Brodie will be testing the new front wings this weekend and we are trying to get the diffuser on his car as well so we will have to wait until Monday for Brodie's feedback as to there effectiveness.
  3. We can supply new Avo adustables if you want to ring me. 1892 540828 07946 634021
  4. Good morning Robertb, we do the front wishbones in flat section because it is much stronger, easier to weld with our pushrod set up, as we move the lower damper/pushrod mount position and, we think, it looks neater. Not sure of the weight advantage as our arms are different from the standard ones. If it is an aero advantage you are after, there are a lot better ways with a much better return than the aero wishbones, and from our experiments the damper will negate any advantage the flat wishbones will give. Must admit that our new kits will have aero pushrod arms, we would argue that because the dampers are not there it is an advantage, but we all know it's really because it looks the nuts.
  5. Pierre there is sometimes play between the bushes and the lower wishbone mount we regularly add washers to space out. Aother place on Dedion cars is the top rear mount most people just put the damper in and because of the problem of lining up the bolt with one hand and holding up the damper with the other you are just grateful that the damper can be moved easily. It is really worth while to check as we can always get at least one 1/2 inch washer in. The trick is to put the top cap head bolt in just so far that you can put the washer on the end then push the damper up, the washer will then usually move but it is worthwhile perserviring to eliminate this gap. There I go again giving away another one of our secrets.

    Yamaha R!

My wife is insisting that the R1 we part exchanged for our last Freestyle car has to go, The bike will go to a dealer, but as it is such a fabulous bike I thought we would offer it to Seveners before it goes for a knock down price. It is a 03 in Yamaha blue it has either a standard exhaust or an Akapovic can which sounds the nuts, ohilin steering damper, mushrooms and of course is alarmed. It has covered 2500 miles and is unmarked. You can talk to the last, now Caterham owner for any history. ring me on 01892 540828 or 07946 634021 before some body else gets a fantastic bike at a bargain price. 8. Mark it may pay you to ring me 01892 540828 / 07946 634021 or Gary 07801 749054, we have a set up sheet that might help.
  9. Good morning Steve, hope you got the bits. You may have to get me on the mobile for the next couple of weeks the new Duratec chassis arrived yesterday.
  10. Burt it is £425 a set of four with matched springs for the type of use the car gets.
  11. Thanks for that Yankeedoodoo if you get enough orders for the sway bars I will bring them over personally, there’s me 'California dreaming'. Richard there was plenty of donut's but you chose to get there five minutes after Bowser and Nemesis, who I believe have had there legs hollowed out so that can get more down them.
  12. Kay - Tee for your information plastic wing bolts were used on the factory race cars when the race series started in 88, and were fitted by most of us racing back in though days. Also I believe James Whiting has been suppling those kits for quite some when did you submit the idea to the factory as I do not remember you talking to me.
  13. Jackal, Gary is a woad ? with a blue face, due at 1.00 wednesday .
  14. Hi Jackal Are they filming King Arthur where you are? Gary is filming Wednesday, he is the six foot four Saxon warrior, who falls into the lake!
  15. Hi Andy we can't recomend it as we have never tried it, But I did say to Darren that we are building a new superwide track car more aero bits and with a duratec. So if we fit the pushrod first with some standard rear stuff it would be silly not to go to track and test it then swop over in the lunch break just to see what happens.Oh I do LOVE this job!
  16. Almost certainly the pick up is to close to the bottom of the sump just bend it up about 5mm from where it is now, it is low flow that is causing the problem.
  17. Thanks for the nice comments Darren and Dave. The super wide track does, as mentioned have our own Radius arms and yes Gary is biased towards radius arms and not the watts linkage. He is coming over and will ask him to explain as he has told me many times but when he gets to squish angles I get lost. Only to say Brodie has radius arms on his sprint car and I think both Peter Ratcliff and Martin Stewart first and second in 750’s all have Garys rear set up, so I suppose when people start going quicker than them it might need a rethink. Peter incidentally, last year came Sixth overall in a 750 car at spa against the R400's complete with lights, small windscreen,- smaller rear wheels and radius arms.
  18. Don't forget we are we are five minutes away from Brands in case you need help and if you need advice ring me on 01892 540828 / 07946 634021 or Gary on 07801 749054. Best advice start soft, adjusters fully out then keep going stiffer by the same amount front to rear just to feel whats happening. You can then go up on one end, as you go stiffer the grip will generally move the grip to the other end once again just to see what it does to the car. Good advice is to just make notes and if you get lost go back to full soft and then put on say three clicks for a nice neutral set up.
  19. With all due respect Stephen cost does not equate to performance, Brodie Branch was running our Freestyle Avo sprint set up on Saturday at Curborough and seemed to me to be on the pace, not sure where the fastest spax shod car was. We found you can get carried away by throwing more money at stuff thinking it must be better because it has this and that it costs more. What counts is performance and the stop watch. What you may not know is that on Sunday he went quicker 54.61 winning the class by a mile and only loosing FTD by 0.3 to a very trick lighter OMS sprint car with wings. Jez Clark who was also running our stuff, when he crashed, said that the shocks were great as the car only bounced once!
  20. Tight Farts right after two hours stuck on the M25 I got to Intercomp only to find they were now alright, still the boss, Clint, checked them over and did all the calibration and every thing is back in working order and Gary owes me big time for taking them down there.
  21. Sorry Steve I think I must have confused you. I was trying to check if I had sent the wrong ones. For all the live axle cars Ital or Ford early or late we use the 17 inch shock. The early Dedion had the same top mounting but the damper fixed lower on the dedion tube and hence the longer damper 20 inch. and I was making sure that I had not sent the wrong ones or you had a dedion which is why I asked for the pictures to check you had a live axle car. I think the problem is that you are just not lifting the axle to connect to the damper. Please ring 01892 540828 0794 6634021if it is still not sorted.
  22. Remember guy's if you get lost or just want some advice ring me up and I will pass the phone to Gary !.
  23. I have posted on the chit chat site but you can ring me on 01892 540828 / 07946 634021. and i have put the instructions on your e mail.

Glad your pleased Glenn, you can now go and play with your chopper with a big smile on your face! Edited by - Len Unwin on 9 Apr 2004 11:01:45
  25. An oportunity to own this unique Caterham. The car is a 02 reg. standard chassis, Ferrari Rosso red and black 1800 Superlight, nos. 175. It comes with a six speed box, big brakes and an Apollo BUT It was rebuilt by Freestyle motorsport with pushrod front suspension with a front and rear track the same as the SV. a massive 110 mm wider than wide track i.e. super wide track. and is fully adjustable all round for both stiffness and ride height. The car also comes with custom wide rear wings a rear aero diffuser and ‘A’ frame floor. The modifications have given the car most incredible grip, and handling see blat chat posting ‘Freestyle motorsport ‘19 March, comments like ‘Handles like it’s on slicks’ and ‘I do not know the words to do this car justice’ and, ‘just looks the dogs dangles’ are just a few of the comments in the public domain. but as all parts are bolt on it could be converted back to standard with no evidence of the original set up. The current cost of the all the mods would be £3000 but the car can be set up and changed to your own preferences . If you would like to own this car and be the centre of all pub talk ring Len 01892 540828 / 07946 634021 where we can give you more details of this fabulous one off car.
