  1. Lad's we all know that the Lion's are the kings of the jungle. Any body know of a good hotel in Cardiff, and any cheap ferry deals for Europe next season?
  2. iab, as the rest of the guy's said it is preference, the stiffest setting will be just over the Caterham 5/8 bar the softest just under 1/2 if that helps. Also if it has got our suspension but the Caterham rear bar you will find that disconnecting the rear bar, just pull off the drop link from the dedion tube and use two tywraps to fix it to the arm of the bar, may be best for a neutral set up. If it is our bar then softest would suffice. The way to tell the two apart is the adjustment on the rear is the same as the front with the twisting blade and it is mounted under the fuel tank at the rear pointing forward i.e. you can see the adjuster from the back of the car. Any questions just ring 01892 540828 or 07946 634021.
  3. There is a special spanner to hold the collar, ring me and I will send you one as we have spares. 01892 540828
  4. We recomend 75mm road, 65 road /track day, race we are not telling. All settings under the sump and then a rake of 10 mm, higher at the back. Taken at the point along the chassis where the alli goes from a round profile to square about one third along the chassis from the front and just in front of the rear wing. Any questions just ring 01892 540828 07946 634021 or at Brands today.
  5. The horses all send you their best Bilbo, but the chickens said they are up for another race from the gate to the workshop the next time your down. And I would never flame you, we did actually allow for the extra ballast in the drivers seat I seem to remember. Just wait until your son starts to race then you know why the O.F. racing motto is the 'older we get the faster we were'
  6. Welcome to the fascinating world of customers and their own preference. We are constantly asked was the best settings and I can only say that the big formula one teams have all the telemetry and know more or less what the car is doing but they still send out the two cars different depending on the driver. My son has the nose absolutely planted and works on the theory that the rear follows, but he has the reactions of youth. I, on the other hand, have the car much more ‘loose’ but much more forgiving having the experience age and an increased survival instinct. We set the dampers on our road track day set up so if they run on full soft on the road, the ride is compliant but the handling nice and neutral. On a track, where the surface is usually smooth, you can wind up the stiffness. The general rule is the stiffer the setting the quicker but more nervous the car will be. From experience we find track day cars run 3 to 9 clicks racers 6 to 15 clicks balanced front to back depending on preference and track grip. After saying that 'we recommend full soft on the road' I know of no customer who has not given in to temptation and ‘played’.
  7. Sorry Peardrop. We have talked about it but it is not really on. But the answer is to get a short front fitted by Arch to post 96 front end, that way you can fit pushrod and get anti-dive as well.
  8. Really not sure as to why the car will not get the right ride height. It used to be that Gary did all the dampers in batch's, but as we now only do odd one's now and again, they either come from Bilstein ready grooved, or the new ones are done elsewhere. We also find that we usually do have to do them on cars we get in for set up work. To get the right rake and to be able to move the weight around, for corner weighting and handling balance, the adjusters really need to be somewhere near the middle. I can only think that the factory, have so many wheel tyre combinations and with people having different needs and requirements there are obviously positions that will not allow you an adjustment to exactly where you want. 9. Sorry Gimp thought I had answered. We are currently getting the support struts made which along with the damper type is the only difference.
  10. If it helps Gary at Juno 07801749054 cuts the grooves for CC.
  11. Ross not sure with your wheel and tyres but, as Arnie said, suspect not. It is exactly the same track as a SV so presumably they have the same trouble.
  12. TRied to ring a number of times Richard but could not get an answer. i assumed it was you who rang Gary on the same day I got the message. If not please ring me again. 01892 540828 - 07946 634021, and I can send you details or you can come and see the supa wide track one.
  13. Sorry Mike we are not at the show as a company but will be there on Friday if that helps, ring on 07946 634021. You can always ring 01892 540828 if I can help on the phone.
  14. Sorry Nutty no, give me a ring 01892 540828 and I can explain.
  15. You can do what we have done on our super wide track car and just replace the headlight mounts with the old non sva type. Have the wires run through the mount and to remove you just remove the two bolts that hold the mount onto the chassis and the light just slips out with the wires, with plug, going out along the slot in the chassis mount, takes about two minutes. We have a small locating tab on the mount that allows you to put back the headlight in the right posistion.
  16. I have done this on a couple of my cars. Make up a plywood sheet that fits in front of damper turrets and the top fits flush with the bar that the seat belts attach to. I used a boot carpet glued to the plywood and the boot floor as a hinge and a magnetic catch at the top. When it is in place it just looks like an ordinary carpeted boot and unless you know the car would not be aware of the space behind the wood and between the damper turrets. You could put on a lock but this gives the game away if people see it. It means you can put stuff away unseen. If the discription is not clear please ring 01892 540828.
  17. Phil if you get stuck we have a drift of the exact size just ring or e mail.
  18. Richard please ring me 011892 540828 07946 634021. The sphericals do have a theoretical advantage which involves the axle moving through an arc. Tight Fart. It wont take that long! unless you are buying the drinks, see you tomorrow.
  19. Jackel Say hello to Gary May, he is a Saxon warrior on the King Arthur film.
  20. Just a word of caution a good friend of mine had the sump gasket break up on his vvc race car with only 600 miles on the clock, and we have since found out this is not the only one.
  21. Latest sighting of Big willy, protester on Jonathan Creek filmed on Wednesday.
  22. If you need any help please ring 01892 540828 / 07946 634021 We will be at Brands, on Tuesday, with our new pushrod car so if you can get there call in, eat our donuts, drink our coffee and have a chat. Edited by - Len Unwin on 16 Sep 2003 15:55:05
  23. Graham, have you been talking to our research and development department, we got the kids to hold dampers so we know it works.
  24. I just knew it would be you. Perhaps not the best example, it is the centre of the car that is the critical point.
