  1. If any body would like some information ring me at Quaife 01732 741144 and I can fill you in on all the ratios and spec. Just for information it has nothing at all in common with a type nine other than it is the same size (almost) and has the Ford bolt pattern, input and output shaft spines. The mainshaft and layshaft are 10mm further apart allowing much bigger and stronger bearings and gears with no big hole in the top of the casing weakening the box. We currently have them in a Nissan 350Z Italian Race series, Ginetta G50 and a lot of MK1 Mk2 Escort rally cars; I have a customer in Barbados who is 1.5 seconds a mile faster with the box in his MK1. Just a note I had the first go in any car fitted with the box when we fitted it to my Seven last year. It was so good Mike Quaife swapped me his Elise for the Seven which you should be soon seeing in the press on road test. Edited by - Len Unwin on 26 Apr 2008 20:25:37

Gary and I have swopped our Caterham with Mike Quaife for his Elise see http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/239354.htm Not sure how too do the HERE thing it says it is easy but what is url?
  3. Not wishing to advertise but the quaife box has no chain and in forward gear has no power loss other than the drag of the oil.
  4. Not sure if I should post this but as Mike Quaife now pays my wages I feel I should remind you that if you do want any information you can ring me at work at Quaife. 0173274144 Also if you look at the web site there are lots of technical drawings that might help any one unsure on how things work. This is not meant as an advert by I must say that despite only working there for a month I am very impressed with my new company there are some very clever guys there. The way the reverse box for bike engine cars work is just genius.
  5. CageyH If you want any advice on the Quaife ATB ring and ask for me and I may also be able to get a discount.

  7. This is actually quite common I always find that you have to pack out with a washer or two.
  8. Ric, check the spigot bearing in the flywheel they can dry out and cause the first motion shaft to carry on turning and hence give the impression the clutch is still engaged. Very easy job to get them out with the right tool absolute b*****r without!
  9. Paul if you come to my house I have one of Arnies boxes you can take away to see if is would be of any use. I could also ask you about my elbow!
  10. Almost certainly sold and with a queue.
  11. Yes mate after a flatulent free year I should be on song this one. Are you still racing? Let me know if you want pit crew anytime.

  13. I have, in the past, made up a flat board with boot carpet stuck to it which attaches to the rear shock turrets with Velcro and goes from the two turrets across the back of the boot the top chassis rail and boot floor so you can use the space behind it and the rear bulk head to keep small stuff. Unless you know the car you don’t know of the secret compartment it also stops the tool kit from rattling around and damaging the boot skin.
  14. KAP as the car pulls OK and the compressions are all ok my best guess is the mixture screw broken, which will have little or no affect above 1200 rpm. Good hunting.
