  1. Rich - good timing, it was my job tonight to find one! Am interested. YHBM. Cheers Stuart
  2. Anyone got one lying around that they don't use before I go hunting on ebay? Prefer generation 3 or 4... Cheers Stuart
  3. Good to see you all yesterday and shame I could not make today 🙆🏻 Sure you all had a great evening last night too. Thanks to all those for organising (Stu, Paul and Mav etc) Stuart
  4. Friend has sent me the following e-mail asking for my advice. Any suggestions please? Power steering pump and/ or fluid? Can't see what a new steering column is going to do? But then I don't know much about power steering. E-Mail: Right…..I have a fiat punto 03 reg which my sister is borrowing at the mo. Its done about 60,000miles with 11 months MOT and TAX. It has electronic power steering and recently a red light has come on, on the dash which refers to a power steering failure. Nothing happens apart from sometimes power assisted steering stops and driving becomes really heavy but once you stop, turn the ignition off and on again its fine. My mum took it to a local garage (one-man-band) and a fiat dealer and both say it needs a new steering column which to buy and fit will cost just short of £1000?!? The book price for the car is about £1300 ish apparently so I don’t see the point in fixing it….i might as well just sell it! On ebay you can buy steering columns but ive no idea which one and the labour costs for a mechanic to fit it might be steep. I don’t fancy selling it privately with it un-fixed, but tempted to take it to auction. Over to the POBC! Might make a small runabout for someone on here looking actually? Thanks Stuart
  5. Garth Worth bearing in mind that if this is your first 7 then the steering wheel wobble MAY be the norm and could be more the road surface as opposed to wheel balancing/ bearings/ rod ends/ anything problematic. My current 7 and the previous one had slight steering wheel wobble but I was told it was okay On the other hand something may be wrong so don't rely on this... mine gets bobbly at about 70ish but on some surfaces there is no wobble. Stuart
  6. Does the tonneau cover have ears for seats? If so tillets or s-types? I am assuming s-types as you are selling the seats. Thank you.
  7. You can do it with oil in and you wont loose too much if your careful!! Obviously if this oil is coming out this would be the ideal time
  8. Rich Could be interested - need to check with my flatmate! What would be the chances of getting it up to Manchester though?? I no plans to be down your way for while.... Stuart Edited by - Stuart McGill on 5 Jul 2010 11:59:22
  9. Heading West being trailered. I didn't wave as I only noticed you at the last minute Possibly Ali with red wings but might be totally wrong with that as only saw you as I was going the opposite way. Bet you wish you were in the Caterham and not the tintop as it was a perfect morning 😬
  10. I have some used Mintex 1144s if your interested in them? Probably still have about 5mm of pad left I reckon. For standard front calipers. Sure they will fit but best to check with someone who knows better than me!!!
  11. Do you know what model this is? The N5452 seems to refer to the battery - I think!? Does it have wireless? Thanks Stuart
  12. I tried for ages to get this paint code recently but with no success i'm afraid Sorry to hear of the incident.
  13. Wil - as I keep telling you go Mechanical!! Does sound like a dodgy sender...
  14. You will probably need to shift the apollo to one side or another. To do this you WONT have to disconnect the big hoses at the bottom but may have to remove the small one at the top. Be careful when playing the apollo generally though as it is only thin aluminium When you have put it all back together just check the bottom hoses do not interfere with the alternator belt. Assuming you are checking the cam belt for wear? You will unlikely to be able to tell if it needs replacing unless its on its last legs. Best to work off age and mileage. Mine was 4 years old and only done a few thousand miles but I replaced it anyway for what it cost- Thanks Dave H Not worth the consequences of it failing! Cheers Stuart
  15. I would not use them. An alternative is Tiger Seal. Some caravan and boat places stock Tiger Seal and/ or Sikaflex. Make sure you get the right Sika Flex though as there are different types.
  16. Mine does it too but only a little 'whoosh'! Interesting to hear responses!
  17. Some Auto Glym polishes also work well...... I think its the Extra Gloss protection that is best. Certainly helped the rear window on an old landy I tried it on but its still not perfect. Worth a go if you have any lying around.
  18. Can't help with the Helicoil im afraid (although my VW Golf just needed the same doing) 🙆🏻 However, have a look at these three for help dropping the sump and modifying the gasket.... http://alcester-racing-sevens.com/sump_removal.htm http://www.dvapower.com/bucket/sumpgasketmod.jpg http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=185929 Hope that helps. 19. Powervamp battery for sale in the for sale seciton now
  20. Rain X works well on the tintop with a sloping screen. Don't make your screenwash too strong though or it will remove it. The quicker you go the better the better the affects. Soo..... heavy rain = drive quicker *eek* Seriously though, in fine rain/ drizzle it is not as good. I do use it on the 7 too and would recommend it. Not sure how it would go smeary though
  21. Ours is only a baby (1976)! It does sound similar Andy but I don't think that any silicone has been used around it... i'll have another look though. We did exactly the same and put a compressor on the air line and blew it back into the tank
