  1. Other option ... when screeeeeching of tires stops, swith off indicators 😬
  2. Look in the archives to check on this but I got "Ireland" in my mind ... import/export or something like that. Now being from Belgium does not help my memory about stuff like that so I probably am COMPLETELY wrong! *confused*

    RPM

How correct does it have to be? Why not use a bike computer ... you could set it up to indicate 180kph for 1800rpm (wheel cicumfence of 1.666m, about an ACB10 I think :-)
  4. Buda ... did you get my email about the screen?
  5. Marius, you should stop hillclimbing ... it is not good for your wallet!
  6. If I only had the money or the guts !!! I do not want to sell my 7 but this 21 really is tempting ... everyone should realise that for 16000 you get a great car, well set up, with a HUGE potential. Paul ... would you consider one of my kidneys as a down payment?
  7. "post processing " ... yeah sure ... to slow me down so that Vera would not become concerned
  8. Tony, I prefered installing mine mine in the boot of the car. It is a bit of a pain as you have to switch in on before you get in the car but beside that it is OK. The sample ON/OFF can be extended so for that one there is no excuse ..... My wheelspeed sensor was mounted on the half-shaft? coming out of the diff, the RPM sensor is long enough to go trough the tunnel and I installed a 4twisted pair cable to the engine for future options (temp, etc.) The GPS sensor sits just under the boot cover and works perfectly ... just remember to allow it locking on BEFORE you start driving, else your data is useless. This generaly means moving the car forward a few yards (like when parked against the wall at Dijon or La Chatre) or moving it out of the pitbox. I guess that parking underneath the trees at Mas du Clos would not have worked either. If you need some more info the let me know. Did you get the CD I send you?
  9. I would not worry too much, the Ring is not a track where you can wreck your tires easily. Esspecially if it is only the 2nd time you visit the place ..... HAVE FUN!
  10. "They all do that, Sir." is the line to use here! Those values are totally normal for normal road driving. If you take it onto a track you probably will see them increase more, esspecially the oil one ... I wished the tempereature readings on my car stayed in that region on the track ☹️ The idle one is more then fine as well ... the hotter the oil gets the lower that presure will be. Nothing to worry about there either. If you switch off the ignition key while your fan is running the fan momentarily will "generate" enough power to keep the ECU + ignition going. After a second or 2 the power delivered is too low to maintain the electronics and the engine will die ... perfectly normal again. I 'm planning to install a diode in line with the fan to get rid of that problem, not for any mechanical reason just to remove the delay (off should be off for me). 11. Arnie, I installed 1/2 height doors 2 weeks ago and took it out for an off road experience yesterday, hardly any stones entered the car. The difference is more then noticable plus you do get less turbulence as well.
  12. Adrian, shouldn't your fan kick in at a lower temperature? Not that it makes a big difference while driving .....
  13. 12000 at tickover ... that must be quite an engine smile.gif Edited by - stijn luyck on 16 Jun 2002 10:29:34
  14. Pierre, I'm using the SPA convex ones, you should be able to see them on the picture I send you a few weeks ago. If you want to try them out ... I might show up on the Euro Sevener thingy around SPA. For the road using only these is fine, on a track however I prefer using a 3rd mirror central on the shuttle. Did you order your FIA bar + boot cover?
  15. A loose, slipping alternator belt that stops slipping once it warms up?
  16. Paul, lot's of people had this problem before ... some found it out the hard way, I luckly enough noticed it while changing the rear shock absorbers. In my case a hair crack developed at the weld ... a few more curbs and god knows what could have happened. Two reasons that can exagerate this "weak link" are badly tightened bolts and riding on the bump stops. I now have the habit of checking EVERYTHING reguraly ........
  17. What do you mean with "will not start", does the engine turn over but it does not start or is it the starter motor itself? In the second case do a search, this topic has been brought up lots of times (often just a question of properly resoldering the wires to/on/inside the starter)

  19. That should be brown/black/black/silver ....
  20. Johnty, if you are sure that the sensors work and the wiring is OK there is not much else to do besides opening the speedometer and checking it's internals. I have no schematics ... if someone else could give you details about what conections to "trigger" on the back of it you atleast can be sure of the wiring. Do I understand correctly that at a certain moment the needle was working but the digital milometer not ... sounds like bad connections inside!! They must work when they leave the bench ... hit it, kick it, if it is buggered already who cares ... you might get it working again. Opening it might make it difficult to get a replacement from Caterham though!!! Do you need a new speedometer for an SVA? If you "borrow" one from another car with already a certain milage on it does it matter?
  21. I returned from SPA yesterday where I tried out my new "retro screen". From my data logger the speed difference at a certain point near to the end of the Kemmel straight is almost 4mph (average of 7 laps with normal screen and 10 laps with retro screen, 102 versus 106mph) I have got a 1.6SS, 6speed, 3.92 and ACB10's and in certain corners the extra few revs allowed me to shift one gear up and feel more in control. It is not a standard Aeroscreen but a cut down version of an old screen I got so airflow over it might be a bit more turbulent ... another 1/10th of a mile maybe?
  22. Rich, I got one last week but so far only played with it on the road. I'm going to SPA Mon-Tue however and will let you know afterwards.
  23. Felix, can you bring your infrared temperature thingy ... I would like to check how warm my oil really gets.
  24. Tor, I hope nothing is wrong with yours!?!?
