  1. To be correct, the oil temp will be lower is the engine is just run static... It's during a 'run' I would expect the oil to be hotter. I've just run a set of thermal readings for you and they roughly match with the temp gauge - about 5 deg lower in general, with the gauge getting less accurate as temp rises. I have the exact same set-up as you.
  2. That sounds rather strange to me... I run an 88 Deg stat, and the average water temp is 90 deg. I think I'd be looking for another problem.
  3. I have an 88 Deg stat, with a 4mm hole. Both temp sensors - water and oil - are relatively new and I think accurate. I have a thermal temp probe so I'll run some comparison measurements when I can. I have no ECU sensor as I run 45 Webers 😬
  4. The general suggestion is for Zetec oil to be 115 Deg, with water about 90/95. This is what Eugene runs, with a rise in temps when really going for it... I am thinking of an oil cooler, with thermostat, as when really 'making progress' (thrashing the nuts off it!) the oil temp can rise to over 120/125, but with no loss in oil pressure, so not too worried - but would like to bring it down a bit. I also have the alloy rad. (But, it is very unusual for the oil to run colder than the water - are you sure about that???)
  5. I love my 210BHP Zetec on twin 45's, and get good MPG, and love the way Eugene drives with them... and love the popping and banging especially! Just got 26 MPG to/from Stoneleigh, and was not hanging around!!! 😬 😬 😬

    Sanity Check...

It actually shows there is little resistance in the drive-chain, which is good! Less losses for the engine power 😬 😬 😬
  7. Quoting Molecular--Bob: internet flow rates may not mirror reality You don't say!!! 😬 😬 😬
  8. I used a set, modified as suggested, for a few years many years back.... Then went Brooklands Aero - have never looked back They do work to a degree, but nothing as comfortable as being Aero.
  9. Splash Shields??? Do you mean Stone Guards? Mind you, I still have no idea of the answer...
  10. whilst the idle adjustment screws on the rear carb impair or improve the performance in the usual way those on the front carb Those do not sound like the idle adjustment screws... they sound like the idle mixture screws. The idle is adjusted by the throttle stop screw. But, you do need to get the balance correct, and possible air bleed too. It is actually very simple - see: http://www.carburetion.com/Weber/adjust.htm
  11. My personal experience of the poly bushes on my Live Axle A-Frame, was that they lasted no longer that the standard bushes. Given the cost of the poly bushes versus the costs of standard bushes. I have gone back to using rubber bushes. That is so not my experience, as the last X-years testify to... (For a value of 'X' search when I put my bushes in...) 😬 😬 😬
  12. If you go back over the links to my 'Bush' experience, you will see the set I presently have in place have been there for years - many years! They have been perfect
  13. Just south of Cambridgeshire.... The 7 Workshop! Can't get better than Chris 😬
  14. I have racetech on Eugene - 'cos they wos free!!! 😬 http://freespace.virgin.net/shaw.clan/images/lotus7a8.jpg
  15. I think he means Classic Le Mans 2014, but I have no idea what "I ve yours with areos eugene" means...
  16. He's like an ex-smoker... took ages to get him to go aero!!! 😳 😬
  17. Aeros all year, and I have used the 7 throughout - except when the snow has stopped me getting out the drive... Turned up at the North Herts meeting in the snow... much to Hatter amusement!!! Be a man!!!! 😬 😬 😬
  18. All I found in all my tinkerings is the an improvement in 'drivability', rather than real power improvements, when I compare my final map to the default Omex one. But I'm on 45 Webers 😬 😬 😬
  19. It's interesting that Caterham are yet to respond to this thread... I purchased 'Eugene' from Caterham some 25 years ago, when Guy was still with them - and have studiously avoided any contact with them since Guy left... There are far better independent '7' operators out there that meet my needs and provide great levels of customer service. As for Caterham - 😔

    Which engine?

210 BHP 2L Blacktop Zetec - lov' it!!! 😬 😬 😬 Very cost effective, and with the exhaust on the correct side! 😳

    Zetec - Oil

Oh - and the Zetec definitely likes to run 'hot' rather than cool.
