  1. I used a large 'tapered' socket to slightly expand the downpipe and then use silicon mastic (you know, the stuff you use round bathroom fittings - the clear stuff) to make a good join. It is very flexible and seems to last well under temperature. I use the same stuff for general gaskets. This was from a tip given to me by a respected engine builder! Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  2. I assume you have checked the A frame bushes? Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  3. Pinky, I did a bit of research on roadholding & handling a while back. Have a look at http://freespace.virgin.net/shaw.clan/roadholding.htm if you are interested. What size is your front anti-roll bar? Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  4. Try an emial to Roger King (info@rogerkingengines.com). He's the best man for X-Flow stuff. Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  5. The best bet for X-Flow rolling road setup is Roger King (www.rogerkingengines.com). He has more experience than anyone. Small Boy - with Big Toy!

Dave, I performed a little research a few years back and you can see the results at http://freespace.virgin.net/shaw.clan/roadholding.htm Not sure if it will help but... Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  7. Arnie is right. The reason Yoko gave me for the arrows (drive) was that the internal steel belt has an overlap and the direction of drive (applied force) needs to be correct to prevent possible complications. However, the man then said in a car as light as a Seven it makes little difference. Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  8. The clonk is usually because the rubber within the A frame mount has erroded. The only sure fix is to replace the bushes. Tightening the bolt will only be a short fix as it accelerates the errosion. Take it from someone who has covered over 100,000 miles in an Ital axle 7. Replace the bushes on a regular basis. I always carry spares and can change the bushes at the side of the road in a few mins. The oil leak maybe from the diff but is probably from the breather. Small Boy - with Big Toy!
  9. The 7 Workshop stock it. (www.7workshop.com).
  10. There are a couple of Sevens for sale at The 7 Workshop (www.7workshop.com). One is a real beast, the other an older Twincam job. There is also a Europa, Series 4 Seven and Elise for sale on Dikko's Lotus@Herts website (http://freespace.virgin.net/lotus.herts). Please buy one or two, I may get a commission (or not).
  11. 180 BHP through Ital axle and 4 speed 'sports' box. On third diff and second axle. Still not going to change things though as it all makes the car very light and there is a lot less power losses through a live axle than with de-dion.
  12. On Dikko's Lotus@Herts webpage he is advertising 'Snoods' at what is a good discount to the normal price. I was given one of these for Xmas and know the price to be £19.50. They are great and as a user with an aeroscreen Seven that I am using full time I recomend them. He also has some of the recent Tipler Lotus books, again at a good discount. Check out the website at http://freespace.virgin.net/lotus.herts If enough get sold he may cut me in on the action...
  13. Nick, I use an aeroscreen Seven fulltime (see http://freespace.virgin.net/shaw.clan) and use an old Gortex walking coat and over trousers. The Old 'cos I do everything on the cheap and walking kit rather than motercycle as it has a hood. Works very well and I simply put them on over my normal leather jacket and jeans. I do use eye protection (just my normal glasses) but have never had a problem with my bonce (no sence no fealing). When its very cold I use a Snood (piccy on web site). I may be mad but just do it!
  14. Mat, Look at http://freespace.virgin.net/shaw.clan/vegantunespec.htm I have over 170BHP from this Kent based engine and love it! Steve
