  1. Simon, is it worth trying a stronger throttle return spring? Andy
  2. The CSR wings are not a great fit for the 6 x 13 wheels that most of us run so wonder whether you might want to cut them down in size a bit, in order to get a closer fit with 185 x 60 x 13 tyres? Agree with AdC on indicators - should be easy enough to drill a hole for anyone who wants to add indicators. Thanks again for pursuing this Fishy Dave. Andy
  3. There has been a lot on this on the Disco 3 website. Consensus appears to be that adding 2 stroke oil adds lubricity and helps the engine to run cleaner and quieter, with perhaps a 2mpg improvement (for some but not all drivers). The clean issue is more important than it sounds - things like sensors and EGR valves get clogged by too much grime and the evidence seems to suggest that adding oil makes a noticeable difference. Of course you can add a named diesel additive but again the consensus appears to be that 2 stroke oil is just as good and maybe better and is cheaper too. I've done it but have lapsed (which may be why my Disco is now being fixed after running into engine limp home mode ☹️). It's counter-intuitive to add it though and I'd really like a proper engineer to opine on the issue. Anyone? Andy
  4. I've got pukka CSR wings but the angles and gaps don't look right (Freestyle wing stays) so, if these would cure that, count me in too! Andy
  5. So, of the various engines, it's just the Duratecs and crossflows still being made? Andy
  6. Actually Richard - just re-read your post. Yes, you can borrow it if you wish. Andy
  7. Richard I think I have an aero screen. This is the all perspex driver's side only thing? Little ali strip that bolts it onto the scuttle? If so, I'll go and check out the garage later. Andy
  8. Aero? A polished surface will mean less air resistance and less oil resistance? Could it mean less oil going up the pushrods to lubricate the rockers though? More questions than answers... Andy
  9. Thanks Dr. Still can't find them on either website tho... Suspect they may no longer be available (as an alternative, I can just use the spade connectors, but the plug is useful as it stops you getting the wrong wire to the wrong place). Andy
  10. Hi I'm after a connector block to go onto the back of my VDO temperature gauge. Basically, it's like the plug that goes into the back of the headlight only smaller. Three spade (the receptile or female bit) connectors click into the back of it it and the whole thing then fits onto the temperature gauge. Redline and Caterham don't stock them, nor does RS. Any suggestions? Thanks. Andy
  11. Try replacing the distributor cap? Could perhaps be a hairline crack - or would that only manifest itself at high revs? Also if a carb has been off, it's very easy to leave a wad of paper in the manifold (been there, done that... 😳). Are the carbs connected? Easy to have only one throttle actually working. If the manifold has been off are you getting a water leak into cylinder 3 from a faulty manifold gasket? All I can suggest is doing a thorough go through of everything. Also, take the plugs out and turn the engine over in case 3 and 4 are flooded. Valves all appear to be wotrking OK if you've checked the tappets so you can probably rule that out. Good luck - sounds infuriating... Andy
  12. Water in the electical connection. My wife, against my advice, took her Mni One (very similar symptoms)to the stealer who charged £800 to IIRC change the pump and the short wiring loom going into it. They wanted to charge an extra £50 if I wanted the old pump back too. I remain convinced that all that was needed was to disconnect the electrical plug, give everything a good clean and reassemble then spray with something like WD40. Worth a try? Andy
  13. Taking the wheels in on Friday. Will probably go for new powder coating given the cost. Anyone know where/what to use to put yellow rims on IYSWIM (as per the F1 cars)? Thanks for all the advice guys. Andy
  14. My nice Caterham anthracite wheels need stripping as the powder coating is lifing in places ☹️ Local guy has tried sandblasting but it takes forever. What's the best way to strip the wheels? Chemical? If so, what and from where? Planning to paint the wheels next, not least because that's repairable for when the Toyos are squeezed back on... Thanks. Andy
  15. What Martin is too modest to mention is that the car won a race at Spa last year so its' pedigree is pretty darned good. It is also fastidiously well looked after and profesionally prepared and not the normal tired ex-racing hack that is sometimes sold. Whoever buys it will be getting a pretty special machine. Andy
  16. Was the 911 on the A34? If so, believe driver was very badly injured. Andy
  17. Just ordered the real thing yesterday at a lot more than this... Ho hum 2 please Jonathan. Andy
  18. Is T'ebay the northern equivalent of e-Bay? Andy
  19. My Odyssey is now over ten years old. What's the normal life of these things? How do you know when to replace (rather then the obvious when it's too late 😔) Andy
  20. Mr Jackson - shame on you - adding all that extra weight I'm planning to remove the old heavy steel reflector and replace it with the new 'even lighter than carbon fibre' reflector. Thus saving many feathergrammes and enabling me to eat another of your pies (Doh!). Just ordered mine. Exciting. Andy
  21. ay be our lads off to sunny Spain Andy
  22. Dumb question, but these are to replace the existing metal reflectors in standard 7 rear lights? Advantages being less weight and they work better? Andy
