  1. Ian - I have one in my R500k with a Pace dry sump system. If you give me your PM address I'll take some photos. CycleSi
  2. Not tricky, but not just drop in either. To be honest, I didn't actually fit mine as I have fantastic (and much appreciated) help from my good friend who is on here as Red John. He had to do a bit of adapting but the chap at Glencoe was excellent and explained what needed to be done.
  3. The uprated fuel pump I used was a Walbro In-Tank Pump Kit (p/n ITP048) from Glencoe Ltd in Staines. Tel: 01784 493555. The total inc. VAT & carriage was £74.35. From memory, I believe it supports up to 500 bhp so plenty for a Caterham.
  4. I'll have a look later and find the information for you, but with 1444 cams you'll need to uprate the pump otherwise you run the real risk of it running lean and ultimately going bang !!!
  5. Paul - that's a great result and a very impressive torque figure. Rob recommended that I also replaced the fuel pump with something more 'capable' to support the higher BHP. If you would like to know what I used then I'll dig out the paperwork tonight. I went for the one Rob uses in all his engine builds. Nick - although it revved to around 8400 very happily, we decided to have the soft cut at 8000 rpm and the hard cut at 8200 for future reliability and longevity. Partly because I'm only using a standard crank and partly because it is so damn mental above 6500 anyway.
  6. Following a very frustrating, upsetting and expensive engine build a few years ago by a relatively well known company in Caterham circles I finally decided to get Rob @ Ratrace Motorsport to build me one good engine out of the 1.8 original R300 engine I had and the 1.9 disastrous engine. He took over 100 hours to build me an absolute work of art and I took the car yesterday to Luke Stevens Developments/Team Leos Racing near Newmarket where Steve Greenauld and Luke spent 5 hours mapping the engine. The result was an outstanding 237 bhp and 163 lb ft torque. The engine sounds and feels amazing. So my car has now morphed from an R300 to an R500. My thanks go to Rob for building such an incredible engine and to Luke & Steve for a fantastic day. They explained everything carefully, let me help them and supplied copious quantities of hot tea. On the 100 mile drive home it felt like a ballistic missile. If anybody wants to know specific details about the build and/or choice of cams, etc. then PM me.
  7. Redline MTL is considered to be the best oil for this gearbox.
  8. 37 thou gap is what Ratrace Motorsport and Boss Racing told me.
  9. That is exactly what I'm after - thanks. I'll send you a PM to arrange delivery & payment.
  10. Thanks - it looks like the one I want is no longer available
  11. I have just had a new engine built - it is a R400 K-series which has a fully ported VVC head and the intake gasket that I am after is an original OEM type which is "Green with Blue sealing rings". Can anybody give me any information/part numbers/suppliers please.
  12. They have come out of a VVC head. However, I think I have sold them already as somebody else has messaged me.
  13. I have got a pair of 285H cams to sell if you're interested? I'm converting to 1444 solid cams so they are now surplus to requirements.
  14. I have found that 17 front and 19 rear cold is perfect. I then aim for 24 hot when doing track days.

    Oil

My question is which of the two Millers Nanodrive+ oils out of 5w40 and 10w50 is "closest" in spec. to 5w50 which most of us use in their K-series engines? I'm about to get my R400K engine rebuilt by Boss Racing and would like to try Millers Nanodrive+ in the future, but am unsure which one is most suitable.
  16. I'd agree too on the piston issue - too lean. Regarding the rad - that happened to mine recently and we think it was down to vibration causing the welds to fail. A poorly constructed rad and/or poor welding is likely to fail. I found that Caterham rads were rubbish so got Coolex in Nottingham to make me a rad and the quality is far superior to anything else I've seen out there. Nice people and nice prices: http://www.coolexperts.co.uk/
  17. Both the two Steve's at Track n' Road and Troy at Northampton Motorsport said 0.35" gap was spot on for my R300K. You'll have to do the metric conversion.....
  18. I've got a bag of them. PM me your address and I'll send you a couple. CycleSi
  19. Actually it is grey - was on my way up to Cadwell Park for the club track day. Given the bright sunshine it might have looked kind of blue
  20. Not much help I know, but after extensive testing on track days I find the ZZS's work best at 24psi hot. Whereas on the road I find 18psi cold is ideal.
  21. I was advised to get the RDX version which is the best LED relay - none of the others I tried worked properly and it has worked perfectly: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDX-4-Pin-Flasher-Relay-LED-Trailer-OK-NO-MORE-Resistors-LandRover-Defender-/230952858198 "Just Add Lightness" supply it too.
  22. Hi - yes; l do. I am away skiing in Canada at the moment so a bit restricted as to what l can do for 12 days, but let me have your personal address and l'll send you a photo. They were to do with the Pace dry sump kit l fitted and were left over after l was experimenting with pulley ratios chasing a problem that l didn't actually have in the end. They are both perfectly ok and usable but one has gone a bit rusty. I have the original receipt from Pace for them and remember them being bloody expensive.
  23. Have you got a picture or a link showing the parts including the seal please? Thanks.
