  1. Hi John - I'm based near High Wycombe between London and Oxford. I can't imagine it would be more than £5 to post.
  2. In perfect working order. No idea what it's worth so make me an offer. Bloody heavy though so you'll need to collect it in person from the High Wycombe area.
  3. I upgraded to a set of Quantums so have the Bilsteins from my R300 Superlight 2002 (widetrack suspension) to sell. All work perfectly although a couple of the adjustable platforms will need freeing off where they haven't been moved. Been on Quantum's shock dyno and all performed admirably. PM me for photos. £250.
  4. PM me for photo. £20
  5. Massive improvement over standard headlights. Super bright; cool white. A big bag of everything including bulbs, ballasts, wiring, fittings, etc - the bag has loads in it and probably includes a lot of stuff that you don't need, but it all got lumped in together and I can't be arsed to sort it all out so you'll need to be handy with electrics. PM me for photos including them fitted on the car showing how good they are. £50 the lot.
  6. 'E' marked. As new. PM me for photo. £30.
  7. New, boxed. P/N ST3102. 0 to 100 psi. PM me for photo. £35.

  11. UPDATE it would appear the cause of my clutch issues were two fold. Firstly, the AP Racing clutch assembly (in particular the cover) was not up to the torque of my 1.9 engine so I'm replacing it with an uprated Helix model. Secondly, the AP plate has partially disintegrated. I went to see Phil at Road & Race yesterday and he has confirmed the whole lot was about to implode and that would have also contributed to the slipping that I was experiencing. A gearbox refresh and new Helix assembly should remedy everything. Fingers crossed. Thank you for all of your input/help.
  12. Obviously there shouldn't be any oil - the gearbox is going off to Phil at Road & Race to overhaul this week as it does seem to be leaking and needs some other work doing too. We have pretty much ruled out the CRB pre-load. It is dry sumped, but not the Caterham one - it is a Pace system. The clutch fork and bell housing all seem fine and are moving freely/correctly. I have sent both Caterham and AP Racing an email about this and I have also contacted Helix to see what they can offer. We still keep coming back to the torque rating being too low and a change/upgrade to a more substantial plate & cover being the answer.
  13. Do you have a part number for the R500 clutch please and do you know if it is 190 mm and do you know its specification/torque rating please?
  14. Yes; we have read JV's very helpful link on CRB pre-load, but it is not easy to be absolutely certain we have got that correct. it doesn't seem to slip in any other gears or the road at all.
  15. I see the link hasn't worked. The plate is CP2257-9 (190mm) The cover is CP3748-6
  16. I recently (in July) had the clutch assembly replaced in my Caterham R400 with 6 speed box, with the following AP items which were supplied by a well respected Caterham expert. It is a 1.9 K-series engine producing approx. 217 bhp and 161 lb/ft torque The problem I am experiencing is the clutch is slipping in the higher gears (particularly in 4th & 5th) when doing track days (it seems fine when driven on the road). Initially we thought that oil was leaking from the gearbox and getting onto the clutch plate and causing the slippage but we removed the engine/gearbox assembly this week and found the clutch assembly to be dry with just some light spray/misting of oil in the bell housing so now we're not so sure this is the cause. What concerns me is the AP plate is (according to their specifications) rated to 150 lb/ft and the cover to 100 lb/ft so I assume they are not up to the bhp/torque of my engine hence the slipping? The only other thing we can think of is that pre-load on the clutch release bearing isn't sufficient enough? Plate https://www.apracing.com/product_details/performan... Cover https://www.apracing.com/product_details/performan... I have just emailed AP Racing to see what they think. Any thoughts/comments/help would be gratefully received.
  17. Probably me on my way home from the (excellent) track day :-)
  18. Apparently you can do a "sniff test" - Google it. l didn't bother as the evidence/symptoms pointed towards the HG so l had the head removed and sure enough the HG had gone in two places. Probably best to do the sniff test first though l guess.
  19. I've had a similar problem recently which was caused by air in the system which meant the radiator wasn't always getting as hot as it should have been but the rest of the system was cooking. This is turn meant the fan didn't always come on so the coolant tank boiled over. Initially l thought it was a stuck or failed thermostat, so replaced that, but after 3 abandoned track days, much swearing and even more frustration, discovered it was head gasket failure in 2 places which was causing air to be drawn into the system. Replaced the HG with a Payen BW750 & new head bolts and everything has been fine since.

When I had mine made by Matt Simpson I found the torque increase noticeable - so much so in fact that I'm often in a gear higher than with the old system. This is especially good when doing track days. It was Dave Andrews who advised me that if I was having a system made then 4:2:1 is the way to go.

Speak to Matt Simpson (BTTC driver) at Simpson Exhausts in Langley. They made me an awesome complete 4:2:1 system for my R400K for approx. £1400 fitted. It is a work of art and increased the torque noticeably whilst reducing the dB level significantly.
  22. John - please can you give me the part number as I can't enlarge your photo enough to read it. Do you think they'll be as effective with the newer style clear lens? Cheers, CycleSi
