  1. That's only 5mm per driveshaft - there is plenty of play on the diff end. It would only reach near maximum stretch when airborne/grounding, so has to have plenty of adjustment built in to handle that on a race car with the diff slung in and not necessarily central. I've never hear of a driveshaft failing like that. There must have been many older cars with the newer tubes in - I doubt anyone bothered measuring...
  2. I sort of have what you want - it's the original 4:1 cat pipe, but with no innards. Great for track use! Cheers - Simon
  3. Check Europa Spares or Car Builder Solutions - probably cost no more than used CC parts :)
  4. I have a complete 3.92 diff. Bought in a Y2000 1.6, did about 1k miles and replaced with an LSD. Been sat in a box since and looks pretty new still..
  5. Hi - measured and they are 50mm long. They are these - except the picture aspect ratio looks a little squashed: http://www.jenvey.co.uk/products2/accessories/airhorns-filters-and-boxes/air-horn-42mm-x-50-carbon-ahc42x50 They look very much like this fitted, but in carbon: http://s262612653.websitehome.co.uk/throttlebodies/image050.jpg
  6. I have a set of carbon trumpets from Jenvey. They are quite short (50-60mm, I think), in order to fit inside a sausage filter. I will try and remember to measure them tonight. Cheers - Simon
  7. I'm possibly interested - I might be in Littlehampton this weeken - is that the east Preston you are at/near? Cheers - Simon

    S3 mats.

looking for a set of mats - carpet or rubber. New or used is fine. Any other interior trim would be useful too! Cheers - Simon
  9. Are you looking for the genuine JPE wheels, or anything in 15"? I have a set of 15" wheels with 888 tyres on them, that came with my car this summer, but I probably won't use. BM me and I will send details/pics. Cheers - Simon
  10. CC will (used to) do it for you, if you asked nicely..
  11. That sounds fine. Send me a BM, or your email and we can sort postage. Cheers - Simon simonpa at gmail dooot com
  12. Brilliant thanks! I've 'dibbed' the front discs listed in For Sale. What are the front pads from?
  13. Hi - has anyone done this? I have a Y2000 S3, with the 'race' chassis and the handbrake under the dash. I much prefer the handbrake i the tunnel - mainly because you can reach it with harnesses on. Any ide how much Arch charge to do this? Also, can it be done without taking the gearbox/prop out? Cheers - Simon
  14. Do make sure you are using the correct, shouldered, bolts throuh the eyes. I had a car that failed an MOT as the previous servicer had put bolts in with no solid shank - just normal bolts. The thread collapsed under the load and left over a mm of play in the eye.. Ian - if you are selling your old watts-link stuff, I would be interested! Cheers - Simon
  15. Are these standard Sierra rear discs? just looking for new discs/pads all round on a standard imperial S3. Cheers - Simon
  16. I'm looking for a tunnel top for an S3 with the handbrake under the dash. I'd also consider trying to re-cover a standard tunnel top, if anyone has one of those? TIA - Simon
  17. Haha - depends how slow you are! Scuttle takes about an hour to remove, if you haven't done it before and need to work out what to do. About 20 mins otherwise. Wipers (if you have all the bits) take about 30 mins, once the scuttle is off. Washer bottle - 30secs to fit, another 60secs to find and plug in the plug, then 15 mins to route the washer tube. Fitting the washer tube to the sparayer can be fiddly. Drop me a PM, if you need help or someone to point at what you need to remove/replace - I'm only in Fleet and can pop by on my way home from work, or sometime over the weekend. Alternatively, you can come over to Fleet :) Cheers - Simon
  18. Doh! I'm in Fleet, Hampshire - drop me a PM and we can sort postage. etc., unless someone is going to be passing soon.

I've had Oily's 285M setup in an early Superlight and it was by far the best 7 I ever had. Responsive, plenty of torques, easy to drive on the road and bonkers enough on track. Since then, I've had a variety of other cars, including 2 x R500s. The R500s had the standard 1144s and roller barrels. TBH, although fantastic to drive anywhere, they were a pain on the road, partly due to the (relatively) lower mid-range torque, plus the trigger throttle make town driving 'interesting'. On the open road, you either use the power (and p1$$ off a lot of other road users), or spend your time wondering when the next failure might happen and land you with an engine rebuild (didn't happen to me, but I still worried). Anyhoo - my advice is to listen to Oily - he knows his stuff! If you decide you 'need' to play the numbers game, though, I have a 2180 cam in the drawer, that I'll probably never use now... Cheers - Simon
  20. What do you mean by 'outer aluminium casing'? Is this the shock body, or the spring seat adjuster? I have a set of new shocks to go on my S3 (all round). I was going to wait until the winter to sort, but can bring it forward to the weekend. Current rears work fine. whereabouts are you? Cheers - Simon
  21. On a related topic, are there any flexible water hose offerings that look like normal hose, instead of the concertina-style? I am restoring an old Xflow TVR and need hoses for it.
