    Chassis etc ID

There are codes on the post next to the drivers right shoulder (just in front of the roll cage). These show the year and type of chassis. The VIN (along with the guide above) will show what the car was originally when registered. The chassis code is more accurate, tho'. Post it here or call Arch Motors for what it means :)
  2. I know someone who tried and gave up - it's a horrible job. The etch-primer is reeeealy hard to grind off. A reskin isn't that expensive - speak to Arch Motors.

    R500 K series

Actually, they are quicker round the corners! Plus - if the engine blows up, replacements are cheap :)
  4. Try emailing Karl at Emerald - he has quite a few maps!
  5. Does anyone have a tunnel top for a 'race' chassis car without the handbrake gaiter? Any condition will do, as I am happy to try my hand at recovering it! If not for sale, then a borrow of one, in order to make a pattern up? Many thanks! Cheers - Simon
  6. New ones here: http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-category/transmission-clutch-wheels/bell-housings/bellhousing-rubber-gaiter-sohc-ford-pinto-x-flow-cologne-bh6r.html
  7. Thanks Christian, I was mainly in need of the manifold, but have been helped out with the loan of a complete exhaust from Gordon. Just need to remap the ECU now, for the MOT.
  8. Hi Les, they are a 285 profile, for solid followers. Slightly more lift than the VHPD cams - with a decent head, you can get 200-210, maybe more. Cheers - Simon
  9. Some clear ones with orange bulbs here for under a tenner delivered: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181653072011
  10. Does anyone in the area have a standard K-series manifold or full exhaust that I can rent/borrow? I have just confirmed with my local MOT garage that a Y2000 kit built car definitely needs to pass emissions testing - even have a certificate to prove it :) The current car has a lovely-looking/sounding Powerspeed 4:2:1 setup, but doesn't come with a cat.. TIA - Simon
  11. I've a pair from an R400. Any use?
  12. Just picked up a K-series Caterham, after being 7-less for a while. It's a 2000 1.6k, with DVA K06 (I think) conversion, including BP285H cams. Also has a nice PowerSpeed 4:2:1 exhaust. It's got the standard plastic plenum, with the bigger alloy TB, but would really benefit from a set of VHPD or Jenvey 42mm DTH bodies. Anyone have anything? Cheers - Simon
  13. No no no - that's definitely 'carbon spot' - if you don't cut the wings off and get them disposed of safely, it wll spread to the rest of your car! Luckily, I happen to be a certified carbon mould recycler and can dispose of them safely for you. I'm in Bristol next weekend and can pick them up from you.
  14. I'm sure I read that solvent and water-based paints are 70%+ solvent (water or thinners), so the actual piment left would be a kilo max - maybe more, if lacquered.
  15. Hi Mankee, if/when you decide to upgrade, then I have a 2180 inlet cam which is the R500 'upgrade' from 1444s. Cheers - Simon
  16. James Whiting is an expert on early 7s - give him a call (make sure you have a cuppa and at least 30 mins)
  17. ..and check that none of your kids have pulled out the little plug that goes into the side of the plastic plenum - that can cause the same symptoms
  18. A complete new set here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/caterham-bilstien-shocks-/231594147729? NTDWM, but looks a great price..
