  1. I used John's guidance above on my 2016 car and it worked well. The sender is designed for a different fuel tank (incorporating a well for the pump/sender unit I think) so it couldn't be accurate without modification to the float arm. I now have confidence in the gauge. My 310R has a large variance in fuel consumption between leisurely touring, spirited blatting and track so I personally wouldn't want to rely on mileage alone.
  2. I imagine the pops and bags on overrun don't help either (if applicable).
  3. Thanks Geoff. I will take a look. Should have inspected whilst changing the chocolate Titan.
  4. #17 Geoff, mine is a 2016 factory built car. Is there an easy way (without dismantling too much) to know which hubs and bearings are fitted?
  5. Hi John, could it be a clogged fuel filter? Is it of sufficient mileage/age to need replacing?
  6. If you are happy with the dry grip of Rainsports I would say they are probably the best for your usage. I found the comfort level excellent with the softer side wall. Sensible price too.
  7. I find the standard S and R pack ones surprisingly compliant and comfortable. What tyres are you using and what pressure?
  8. #19 I was wondering if the springs or the spring rates are the same on S/R spec cars - given that the R is wide track.
  9. I have no experience of these but as an example. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/decibel-slayer-bolt-on-exhaust-noise-decibel-reducer-insert-birdbs1/
  10. Personally I would go S pack (which includes the windscreen and weather gear) and have the adjustable platforms fitted afterwards along with a suspension setup. My last car had narrow track road suspension with adjustable platforms which I really liked.
  11. Apologies, my rainsports were 55 profile.
  12. I really enjoyed the Uniroyal Rainsport (60 profile) but they don't have anywhere near the grip of a track day tyre like R888R. They have a soft sidewall so give a nice supple ride even with a higher pressure which they need.
  13. I agree. It seems that fully depressing the throttle several (5) times in succession cured the problem. I have been thinking something might have been sticking such the throttle or the cable.
  14. I asked Alicool about coolants before buying. They said whatever the engine or manufacturer recommends. They were happy with OAT additive coolant.
  15. #9 My silicone hoses included a sheet warning about OAT additive coolant. I don't have it now but there is this from the archive /forum/techtalk/classic-silicone-hoses-and-oat-coolant and Google throws up some info too.
  16. There has been quite a lot of discussion about this over the years. I believe the problem is associated with the brazing which can be attacked by OAT pink coolant. I think possibly silicone hoses can be damaged too but I keep to what Caterham recommend for my car.
  17. #23 I think the 'sport suspension pack' option would give you the adjustable platform suspension and judging by the price wide track too. Might be worth asking Caterham if they can just fit the adjustable platforms which should be much less - assuming you aren't bothered about wide track.
  18. I was thinking that, It is always good to take it to the floor on a regular basis ;-)
  19. I agree but maybe offset by the benefit of having the corner weights and rake correct, which they aren't without adjustable platforms. For a road car I doubt a bit of extra ride height is noticeable. I have always had my cars on the high side ie 80mm for my K and 85mm for my Sigma with me in the car.
  20. Why not simply get adjustable platforms fitted to achieve the desired the ride height/sump clearance? That way you can have the car setup with the correct rake etc too.
  21. Great that it is sorted but can a Sigma (with MBE ECU) have the throttle position set using that process? It looks very much like the way a K with standard Rover ECU is done.
  22. I am not convinced that adding a timer is a good thing. The designers will have taken a lot of care to program the charger in the best way possible and adding a timer interferes with that.
  23. My 2016 has the later alloy front calipers so that will have. Lovely looking car, but I would say that :)
  24. In addition to Jonathan's thoughts, I had a similar experience with my new Sigma. My logic was that if there wasn't any signs of obvious leakage it was escaping as steam through the expansion bottle cap. I swapped mine for a Gates RC246 which felt much better when I fitted it and solved the problem. The pressure rating is the same as the OEM.
  25. So there are no nuts - just these pushed over the studs to hold the cam cover in place?
