  1. Out of interest, does anyone know who makes Halfords oils? For some reason I thought they were Comma. Any thoughts on the quality compared to branded?
  2. If yours is a metric chassis there is a chassis tube close to where you would drill for the hole - or at least there was on my K series. I decided against it and used the cut down Allen key method.
  3. That's the brake and clutch fluids, coolant, diff, gearbox and engine oils changed. The roads are white with salt here in the Peak District. Just need some heavy rain followed by warmer temperatures now!
  4. #26 There is no way I was buying into the Titan service schedule so I am glad it is replaced and behind me. You gave me help and advice at the time which was much appreciated. Anyway, we digress. With Heather's help the clutch fluid is now changed.
  5. My carbon plate was knackered at 4000 miles with 150hp. Disgraceful.
  6. Whenever I dip into this topic there always seems to be a lack of hard evidence that there are quantifiable benefits of premium fuel over standard for cars that don't require it. Personally I am not convinced that long term use of fuels with more additives is better for the engine. I accept it may keep an engine cleaner but does having more detergents increase wear elsewhere? Maybe it depends on the particular engine and how it is used (eg long journeys vs city start/stop etc).
  7. I cannot notice any difference in my 310 Sigma. I use higher octane but that is only because it comes with the E5 petrol.
  8. That's what I do for the brakes. One inch of fill in my tall, thin jam jar and check the level in the MC. As you say, one top up per corner. Easy.
  9. I've had great results with the Eezibleed bleed but yes, it is only twenty quid's worth. That looks better made.
  10. #9 that's why I was going to such extraordinary lengths to do it single-handedly :)
  11. #5 yes, that is why I don't want to use the Eezibleed. The clutch reservoir is much smaller and also metal so the level can't be seen. Might need to get SWMBO involved to press the clutch pedal. #6 agree. I don't trust those Eezibleed pipe fittings at all.
  12. I use an Eezibleed for the brakes (I don't fill the bottle with fluid though - in case of leaks). I was wondering for the clutch if gravity was sufficient.
  13. I haven't done this before and I was wondering about the easiest way. Could it be done by simply opening the bleed valve and allowing the old fluid to discharge by gravity via a tube and into a jam jar on the floor? Is it necessary to press the clutch pedal?
  14. I agree. Even if the policy terms aren't changed they could have sent a supplementary letter stating that the clause doesn't apply. That's what I would have done.
  15. A-Plan have replied about the ATDO issue. They have confirmed track days are are included in the policy as normal. Usual stuff about needing marshals and no timing but otherwise the cover remains as it was. I will keep a copy of the correspondence.
  16. Thanks Tim. As I am insured with A Plan I need to know if I am (and have been!) insured for the track days. I will write to them.
  17. I suspect the majority of R spec 420s are used on the road too. It is a big seller. Am I over simplifying by saying it needs a oil temperature control system or even simply a thermostat to switch the oil cooler out of circuit when not required (assuming it doesn't have one).
  18. I am not happy about it either. Surely it can't be hard to sort out, or at least to send a letter saying we are covered in the interim period. Clarity is what is needed
  19. When booking a TD I specifically state who it is booked with and A Plan reply with a confirmation of cover. So that is something but I must admit this is leaving me unsure as the requirement on my part will be not meet all of the conditions of the policy.
  20. I was with Flux and paid a bit more for A Plan because of their good reputation on here. I too asked A Plan about agreed value and apparently it isn't all what it seems ie you may not get paid-out the full agreed value. I am not sure but they wouldn't provide agreed value for my 2017 310R. I am also unsure about Markerstudy. On balance I would be equally happy with either.
  21. I think I know (or at least have an indication!) when my oil is up to normal temperature by the oil pressure dropping slightly on the gauge after a cold start. A proper gauge would be useful though. The heat exchanger on the Sigma which uses the coolant to warm the oil initially and then the coolant to cool the oil when hot is clever.
  22. #8 yes, these are photos of one modified by Oxted that I based mine on. I first tried laying the straps over the seat but they didn't feel the same as coming through the seat which stops the buckle lifting up. We don't really know how safe these solutions are.
  23. This is what I had in my last car. Cloth seats but works equally well with leathers, It worked really well and looked neat IMO.
  24. I use the Velcro hook attached to the map pocket. It sticks very well to carpet (assuming you have it!)
