  1. If that is the case, does the manual tensioner need changing? I have bought a kit from my local factor ready for the job and it of course contains an auto tensioner.
  2. This morning in heavy rain near Gatwick. 160 with a CC number plate (is this a press car) following an Elise in the centre lane. I was in the Boxster going home after a night in Hove after the London to Brighton event.
  3. So what are the implications of using them without the E mark? I assume Polley will still supply them to the Stock car drivers.
  4. Guilty as charged, visiting my mum. She is in a residential home in Chorley. Quite a nice run over the moors via Belmont. As you say Martin it was a nice afternoon. http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/shades_smile.png
  5. Interesting, can you say how much you bent it? Did you just put a kink in the wire? Might give it a try. In assume the tank was almost empty when you removed the pump.

    Road trip USA

First full day complete. Minneapolis MN to Mitchell SD. A gentle start after a full and hectic flight from MAN to MSP via Iceland. Forty five minutes late getting in then finding only two immigration desks manned out of twelve and as we were on the back row of the aircraft we were at the back of the queue. We'll over an hour to clear. Not happy. We were then almost two hours late getting to our nephew's in Maple Grove for our meal. Our hire car is Mazda CX-5 with several features new to me. Keyless push button start, reversing camera and most bizarre blind spot lights in the door mirrors. An orange warning light illuminates when a car is alongside. Exiting day tomorrow Custer state park, Badlands and Mt Rushmore. Sorry, should be in chit chat, can someone move it? Ta Edited by - Domus on 27 Aug 2014 03:56:22
  7. I would suggest Water Pump pliers with longer handles than the tool to unscrew the drain plug. Good luck.

Shame my luggage allowance is what it is, or I could bring you a set. Driving from MN to WA next week. If you see a Mid size SUV driving on the left, give us a wave
  10. Umbrellas are available on the ESV 😬
  11. The new one has very nice brackets to suit the Caterham fan. Order by phone to get the right rad and discount. Ask me how I know
  12. If there is any rust on a piston I would replace it in any rebuild. Changing the pads means the piston is housed deeper in the caliper and the line of rust may cause the piston to stick in or out of the new seal. Happened to me last year on my MX-5. Caliper seized on, turned the disc a nice colour though.
  13. Take a chair, it could be a long night.
  14. The Russians just took pencils! Urban myth, bits of broken off pencil floating around would not be welcome. Must learn to type with more than two fingers Edited by - Domus on 4 Jun 2014 18:03:53

    automatic gearbox

Are Caterham not using the box from an MX-5 now? If so Mazda do make an auto for the Five and it can use flappy paddles.
  16. Well, what can I say that has not been said before. The Two Steves' are fantastic. The attention to detail is first class as is their knowledge and expertise. My car has been transformed, it picks up instantly and pulls all the way across the rev range. I was thinking of a lightened flywheel for my next upgrade but their work has negated that idea, it really does fly. Very impressed, the workshop may not look like the McLaren centre but the end product is top quality. 😬 Next project is trying to get cold air into the throttle bodies. Top tip, take a chair it could be a long night.
  17. Red 7 going south. Was it Mr Miller?

    Airlock ?

Classic symptoms of thermostat not opening. As you have done some work on the cooling system and assume all was well before, I guess there is air in the engine block. Air will not transmit heat to the stat so the stat "thinks" the engine is too cool. Remove stat and drill a 3mm hole at the top of the flange, this should allow the trapped air to escape. And /or I had a similar experience on my Sigma engined car I solved it by getting the engine just above the usual stat opening temp and driving the car down the drive and jumping on the brake pedal, then reversing and slamming on. This shunting moved the air, allowed the coolant to touch the stat and Bob's your five new p. Good luck Edited by - Domus on 22 May 2014 21:37:32

  23. A good tip is to remove this Allen bolt each year to make sure it will move and to cover it's whole length in copper grease.
