  1. I would also check that neither of the handbrake cables are sticking.

    Engine options

I got my xflow rebuilt with forged pistons and it was a peach of an engine. These days probably worth rebuilding (prices on the up) and if you want more power change to a different car ( I suspect cheaper overall). If you want to change then a Zetec would appear to be the obvious route. Present car has a Duratec which is madly fast but does not have the character of the x flow. Cheers Nick
  3. Those nice chaps at Biggred will overhaul yours for you. Thats what I did with mine, highly recommended.
  4. Sorry to say my R400D with a 6 speed does have the odd drip on the floor, however the level has never been low when checked. It is so small it has never really bothered me. That said there is an argument that in this day and age it should be dry
  5. I brought a set of RD ones, most fitted ok but one was poorly machined and had a larger diameter than the rest. Possibly worth checking that the nuts are all the same dia.
  6. Redline for a new one or Biggred for a recon of yours (I used Biggred last year really good) I would also suggest that you do both sides.
  7. Probably not the cause but worth checking the steering rack spacers are the correct way round (they are different lengths) to stop bump steer. When I brought my car they were the wrong way round. I can't remember which it should be and I'm not with the car so can't check, but I'm sure some clever person will let you know. If not I will have a look at the end of the week.
  8. Daft question, you have checked the tyre pressures?
  9. Hi Adam The dia of internal face with the o ring on it is 60mm and 5he external dia is 98mm. cheers
  10. Hi Adam I will dig it out and measure it for you. I am not sure if it will for a Rover filler pipe.

  13. Sorry Just read the update, I would still try a Torx bit though.
  14. welding a nut would probably work, but I have used the technique in #6 on more that one occasion and find it better than a easy out.

  19. Nick, thanks for this. i have got a rebuilt lsd to fit, so I'm hoping it will not be too challenging.
  20. Thanks for your thoughts, however I am really after a guide to doing it. I suspect that I am not the only 7 owner that would like to know what the set up entails.
  21. R400 D with a Titan lsd. Not looking to get into a debate on the pros and cons of various options, just looking for the information to rebuild what I have. Thanks
  22. When I had mine fitted by SBFS they used a white chalk pencil on the existing popper, pulled the cover over to the correct position and rubbed the cover from the outside to make a chalk circle on the inside. Then punch the hole in the centre of the chalk circle. Fit the popper and move to the next one. I think they started from the middle and worked outwards to keep it taught. Hope this helps
  23. Having read quite a few threads into Titan lsds in Bmw diffs and not found any info, does anyone have a guide about changing then out and setting them up, the required backlash etc? Thanks in advance Nick
