  1. Its an 88 car so Drums at the rear
  2. Following a track day at Brands, I encountered a problem with the rear drum brakes, the brake linings detached from the shoes on one side. So rather than just replace everything is there a, not too expensive upgrade tha can be carried out. Any thoughts greatly received
  3. Just a thought have you still got your original filter, and if so can you identify the markings on it? That might make it easier to get the correct replacement.
  4. My car, 1700 X-flow is suffering from the fuel pump (Facet solid state) inlet filter becoming blocked with a clear jelly. It usually lasts about 50 miles before blocking, and once cleaned its fine for the next 50 miles. I have just changed from using Optimax to Esso Super-unleaded, but it is too soon to see if this will have an effect. Short of removing the fuel tank and having it steamed cleaned I am lost for ideas. Anyone had similar problems, or has got some useful ideas?

  9. Does the wind deflector kit as sold by Caterham work, or do you still get battered by the wind? Any thoughts much appreciated
  10. Ran my 1700 supersprint at Goodwood last year with a static test of 103db with no problems. If you are unsure give Goodwood a phone, they will usually statically test your car anytime they are operating a track day.
  11. The haynes webber carb workshop manual says Where thackery double-coil spring washers are fitted tighten to maintain approx 0.020 in (0.50mm) clearance between adjacent coils or Where anti-vibration mounting is fitted, tighten the locknuts in a diagonal sequence until the covers just contact the grommets, which should also be in contact with the carb flanges. Now tighten each locknut a further 1 and a half turns and check that the v-section of each rubber gromet is equal Hope that this is of some use Nick
  12. Thanks for the ideas, I will give them some thought. Nick
  13. Any ideas to help solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. I am suffering from fuel starvation following heavy breaking, whem the problem occurs there is little fuel in the in-line fuel filter. The car is a 88 De-dion, 1700 x flow, with twin 40's and a mechanical fuel pump. The car ran ok all day at a Goodwood track day earlier this year with very little fuel in the tank by the end. All fuel lines and connections are ok. Should I change to an electric pump and regulator, or am I missing something simple?
