Peter, Have you checked the condition of the gearbox mount, mine was split which was causing the g/box to rub against the tunnel on fast corners. The split was not apparent without removing the mount from the car. Hope this helps Nick

Roy, Having checked with my mechanic I am informed that the cam belt should be changed at 80K or 50K and 5 years old. Any way suffice to say it will require a new one soon so I will get thet sorted. Nick

Roy, It has been serviced in accordance with Fords recommendations with a main dealer service up to 50K and my local mechanic (who probably does a better job!!) using ford parts up to now. However if this was an issue then I am sure that we could come to an agreement about the cam belt I.e. if we are very close to the asking price then I would get one fitted. Hope this helps Nick 😬

At the Handling day at Dunsfold, I noticed a 7 going roung the top gear track with a high level brake light mounted on the roll bar. Does anyone know any more information about this, is it kit you can buy or has someone just fitted one? Cheers Nick

Mark, I have a pair of early type black leather seats. The only snag is that I am still using the passenger one. However I am after another Tillet to replace this and if the prce was right I could probably be persuaded to part with them. Nick

Hi Just done a clutch on a 1700 SS. It is possible to remove the engine with the G/box in place, however I had to remove the front crankshft pulley. Apart from that I agree with all the advice so far. Hope this helps Nick

Mark I have just replaced the clutch on my 1700 X/F. I had to remove the bottom pully from the front of the engine to give enough clearance, however I left the water pump alone. I left the g/box in the car but supported it with a trolly jack and bit of wood. It is possible to remove the engine on its own if a little tight at times. Hope that this helps Nick

On may 88 DeDion, the brake brake light switch is activated by hydrauic pressure from the brake system. If you trace the brake pipe from the master cylinder you will come to a 4 way connector, on one of those connections sits the brake light switch. Hope this helps Nick

Following a sucessful day at Brands, the only minor hickup was a kn**ked clutch. Any ideas as the best place to get a heavy duty clutch for a 1700 X flow. Will a HD RS escort clutch fit?
