  1. Having a clear out. Some of the below are on ebay but willing to discuss if required: X flow alternator Lucas but needs repair ( I think diode pack) £15 sold X Flow big bore exhaust gaskets, two sets at £5 each Trunnion oil gun £15 X Flow oil filter genuine Ford £5 Well used set of Aero screen mirrors £15 sold Carb balancing tool. It is for bikes, however if you fit a brake bleed nipple in the inlet manifold for 2 and 3 cylinders it takes about 2 minutes to balance the carbs and no taking filters off etc. £ 40 Collection from Hampshire (J9 M27) or can post some items. Thanks Nick
  2. Not wishing to state the obvious, however if you plan to remove the engine/gearbox then you will have to disconnect the speedo drive anyway.
  3. Had mine done a PGM earlier this year. A different car afterwards. It did help that they fitted the steering rack properly (a CC car and sold by a "reputable" 7 specialist) so you would have hoped it should have been correct. Took about 3 hours and I was fed plenty of tea and chocolate biscuits. Cannot recommend them highly enough. A proper set up on something as quick and sensitive as a 7 is a must. Nick
  4. Had a similar issue with my Xflow a few years ago. Turned out to be a broken piston ring. The cure I went for, was to get it re-bored and forged pistons. Virtually no oil in breather tank after that. Probably worth doing a compression test to see what you get. Nick
  5. A big thanks to everyone who posted. The last link worked and CC had one in stock. I can only assume that the link I tried, and my search criteria (or my total inability to work technology) was flawed. Cheers
  6. Just for clarity, hoping to use this guide http://www.caterhamr500.co.uk/2015/04/third-brake-light-fitting-guide.html
  7. It is an LED rain light and has resistors for using with car running an alternator, so thats not an issue. CC used do do a wiring kit that just plugged into the back of the existing loom. Happy how to wire it up, just looking for a neater solution than solder/crimps. I will have a look in the boot though to see if there are any fittings Cheers
  8. After some assistance here, I intend to fit a high level brake light (R400D) and I know that CC used to do a wiring kit for that that just plugged in for about £10. However this is no longer on their website, but you can buy a light kit for £80 ish. As I have a rain light to fit, I am not going down that route. I know I can just cut into the existing wires but looking for something a little better than that. Does anyone know if you can still get the wiring kit, or failing that what connectors I need so I can make one up? Thanks
  9. Hi Fitted a high torque one to my crossflow, bit of a faf counting teeth numbers etc and not cheap, however it was awesome and never had any issues. Sorry cant remember where i got it but suspect a quick google will resolve. Cheers Nick

  11. Hi Martin, Where are you. I am sure I have a compression tester lurking at the bottom of the tool box, so it would not be difficult to do a compression test. This would at least give you an indication as to the state of the engine. Cheers Nick
  12. Hi I replaced mine last summer on my old car. Bit of a saga and a couple of pointers: It was around the 30 amp mark, you do not need any more (it is only a small battery). The Lucas one I had is no longer available. I went down the motor factors route and the replacement was too long and was very close to the 4 branch manifold. In the end Redline supplied one that fitted (did need a couple of washers though) If you are interested I still have the lucas one which you could get refurbished but a couple of weeks lead time. Hope this helps Nick
