  1. Anyone upgrading their Duratec? Number 2 Son is looking for injectors, remote fuel pumps both high and low pressure, fuel swirl pot, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and an ECU and loom suitable for a rear wheel drive car (Escort MK2). We are planning to use motor cycle throttle bodies, we are also looking for ram pipes with an internal diameter of 46 mm. What have you got? Cheers Andy D
  2. I think thats' what we are looking for. Please mail a price and I'll let him know. Cheers
  3. Mick My Son is looking for a flywheel for an Escort project. Can you let me know what diameter, weight and price please. Andy
  4. I run Nitrons on the road with 200 front and 110 rears and valved to match and they are great for the average B road and in the wet. Too soft for circuit work though. Stops shaking the wifes teeth out.
  5. Thanks to all of you for ther reassurance I must say they have rang back when they said they would but no screen on stock so they said they will find one Monday Malc- did they replace the rubber gasket?
  6. Oh Joy I am really looking forwards to this experience! I changed it myself last time and beside the pain getting the screen it was quite easy. Insured with Adrian Flux who obviously got a deal with National
  7. Just hit a bl##dy pidgeon and smashed the screen, anyone had any experience of National Windscreen as they are the approved repairers given by my insurance? Regards Andy D
  8. Sorry for the slow reply, He found that the stainless hydraulic hose spun around when he was moving it to attach it to the master cylinder. It was only just wound in to the acuator finger tight.
  9. Just a word of warning as a friend has just got his engine into his Roadsport and started adding bits to the engine then discovered that the clutch hydraulic hose had not been tightened into the clutch actuator correctly. This was all assembled by Caterham and resulted in the engine having to be removed again *mad*and the engine /gearbox stripped.
  10. Unless you have a heated garage it can be an advantage to have the car "well ventilated" as it helps to prevent condensation forming. As long as it doesn't get rained on and is secure I would have thought it would be fine. (and it is available for short notice blats !)
  11. My car is a late 96 (about the same build as the car you are looking at) and the powder coating is rubbish. It started peeling off in sheets when it was 2 years old and has been a pain to get the chassis to a reasonable state ever since. Have a very good look at the underside as it is very time consuming work. Buy with the brain and not the heart!
  12. Malcolm Darling ! Please bring the gearbox mounting to the meeting and I think i'll have it for Number 2 Son's Escort project. PS will be at Cracoe tonight with Steve and Anne and Mrs D Edited by - Andy Doughty on 12 Aug 2009 12:38:01
  13. I have the same problem with my car. With the seats fully back and the FIA bar you cannot get the headrests on, certainly on the drivers side because of the diagonal bar. Bit of an 🙆🏻 really when you have got nice seats.
  14. If you can see the hole you might be able to repair it with araldite. Open the hole up (be brave)and get some aradite into it then close the hole with long nose pliers and pack a bit of extra around the area. It may close off one of the tubes but this should not have a major impact on cooling.Get it clean before you start. We had to do this at a race meeting on my son's bike. It was still OK after 3 seasons when he sold the bike. Regards Mr Bodgit
  15. For a Type 9 to a mechanical speedo as fitted to 1997 cars. Mine has a rounded the inner cable end at the gear box. Just the inner cable would do I guess (unless the outers were different lengths!)
  16. Sorry its a 10mm (3/8") Very good on the back roads though as you get excellent grip on the front during turn in on the bumps!
  17. Mmm I think I might have one somewhere. Mine is the one fitted to the late 96 car which is quite softly sprung , I think it's 5/8. let me check an I'll let you know Andy Edited by - Andy Doughty on 7 Apr 2009 12:31:41
  18. Thanks Guy Theres no rush at the moment in fact it's for my Son's MK2 Escort project which I guess will take a few mor weeks before we are ready to try the engine in. Still looking for a bargain ! Andy
  19. Anyone got 4 bolts that attach the bell housing to a type 9 gearbox? They are a very fine thread and high tensile. Regards Andy D
  20. Malc Which end of the rack is showing the play? If its the Column end it may be the slide plate thats inside and you might tighten it with the big nut (on the rack not you ! 😬)
  21. I've had similar problems when I converted to a Duratec as I had to make up water rails bespoke to the car. I could not find a way of forming the bead so I used a coarse emery paper to clean the pipe and then decent clips to clamp the hose. Done 6 ends of these 50mm pipes like this and none have blown off (yet!) in the 2 years the car has had this engine. I suppose there is a risk but the system pressure is run at about 15 psi so should be OK.
  22. See For Sale ad for a PRG trailer. He may be open to sensible offers bt unsure about !£1000 Regards Andy
