  1. Thanks Tom, Sorry for the slow reply as I've been off line for a few days. I guess play on the spline may be an option that I hadn't considered. I haven't seen a drawing of the break down of components so don't know the assembly. its the right hand side ( drivers side in UK) and it the complete I'll take that drive shaft off and check for wear as a first step. Thanks
  2. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll start ringing around for prices and turn around times. I'm going to be busy this winter. Engine and gearbox out for what appears to be a gearbox oil seal failure with transmission oil dripping out of the bell housing and now the diff for a bearing failure.
  3. Any one have a good contact to refurbish my diff ? The bearing on the output shaft has got play in it. I've had a little tweek of the bearing housing but as it's done 80k miles I guess it needs a little love. I'm in the North so local might be nice but not essential. cheers
  4. It's a pain sorting out the excess on the screens. I had a local glass supplier cut 2 screens from laminated glass which was a bargain. No heating elements of course. It was a good move overall as I fitted one and then 6 weeks later a pigeon smashed the screen. Hey Ho, the joys of motoring.
  5. If you have the width in the garage, how about a small 2 post lift? They give complete clear access and if you have the height 2 car double stacking may be possible.
  6. Hi I've Sent you a PM with photos Cheers
  7. I have a very early Softbits boot bag that I don't use anymore. It works OK if your car has a standard roll over as it has to be pushed through the gap between the upright tube and the sloping tube of the rollover bar. It's good as you can't lose it off the back! The entry zip is up against the back of the head rests so you can get stuff out from inside the car depending on the headrests. Ive got an FIA bar now so it's a bit more of a struggle (and I've trained the Wife to pack light!) I can mail you pictures if you are interested? It's in excellent condition. cheers Andy D
  8. Have you damaged the thread or the square hole? I welded a nut onto the end of mine so I can use a ratchet spanner to fit and remove.
  9. I have this which is a Ford Duratec HE . It looks slightly different as it's got what looks like second guide 125mm from the bottom of the stick. It's 505mm from the seating flange of the handle to the bottom.
  10. It's also easier to reach the maps from the drivers seat if it's on the tunnel Cheers
  11. Changed my engine years ago so don't need this anymore. You pay the postage and a donation to our Prostate Charity?
  12. Of course. I'll sort it tomorrow
  13. I got hacked off with various instruments failing and out of calibration on my 1996 car. The speedo was never correct despite sending off for re calibration when it packed up. The tachometer failed for the second time and that was enough. I bit the bullet ( and wallet!) and binned the lot and fitted a complete set of Stack gauges. ahh the pleasure of knowing the Speedo is bang on after setting it up, the oil pressure is correct etc etc. the fuel gauge calibration is not perfect but I guess if I put in a new tank sensor I could sort it. They look modern and great in the dark. And club discount available. good luck
  14. It may be worth using copper slip on the plugs as I noticed they a very rusty in your picture. The Duratec's plug cap is not not totally waterproof. You don't want a seizes plug in the alloy head. My engine was getting standing water in the cam cover and this drained down past the plug cap and rusted the plugs. Worse after washing the car. A top cover prevents this. cheers
  15. Vaseline ! Paint it on with a small modeling paint brush and leave a couple of days. wipe off the surplus and it normally lasts all season. I guess it must be the petroleum that re generates the plastic
  16. Hi Is this any good? cheers Andy D
