  1. I have a late 96 which is de Dion and originally a cross flow engined car. one of the problems of that chassis era was very poor powder coating to all of the chassis and suspension components so have a good look underneath pat all the tubes. if it is de deion you should fit with the pedals adjusted and the seal fully back although leg length impacts the seating! good luck
  2. It's a Duratec but it is possible to get a tight fit around an IGT who will supply without any logo. Excuse the white exhaust I was stuck and had to go to B and Q!
  3. Hi It’s never been fitted so I’m not sure. The strut comes with a welded on bracket that bolts into the chassis tube where there is an insert in the footwell (or so I believe!) the photos only shows the attachment at the Roll bar end. regards
  4. Any use to anyone before it’s cut up for the scrap bin?
  5. You could try removing the engine mounts and removing a couple of mm from the bearing surface the rests on the rubber mounting block to lower the engine slightly? Cheers Andy D
  6. A set of 5 wheels, 6x14, with the original 1996 centre caps. These are in excellent condition as they were refurbished 4 years ago. The Alloy centre caps have a few small dents. 4 of the wheels have Yoko 48’s fitted which are old but would be ok for a few laps drifting! £150 plus postage if required.
  7. S3 imperial strut for sale.needs a paint touch up as shown on the photo. Could post at an extra cost. £10
  8. Hi Jochen I have a couple of the older spec Duratec heads, one of which suffered a bit of valve clash! They both probably need new guides and a refresh before use. I also have one of the original Ford alloy cam covers which has been crinkle painted. also an engine with crank and all parts but dismantled although it has a mark on one of the bores where water got into one of the bores and caused a bit of surface damage. I think it would rebore OK. if you are interested I can get them out of storage and send you pictures. Cheers Andy Doughty
  9. I've got a Mondeo 2.2 D with an add on box that I fitted a year ago. Just plug and play onto the fuel pressure rail with 16 position adjustment. I have not had a rolling road session after the fit but it made a really good increase in power and torque. My car started with 200hp and it had turbo lag that was quite annoying (that's how it left the factory) but it did appear to smooth some of the lag out. I think it fools the ecu as it shows an improvement in consumption but I am sure it has improved consumption overall( not that it's relevant as I don't do many miles a year) i paid £125 for it and I think it was worth it. My Son fitted on to his BMW 335D and it was very quick. I only have it set on 12 of 16 as I am a wimp!
  10. White with Red stripes. Thanks for the cheery wave. A nice day for it!
  11. I would put them on the back and run them off. Buying a pair of new 21's (or used ) would probably result in different grip levels anyway due to age and slight variations in compounds at manufacturing. Different pressures from front to rear would have created a similar problem. As already said, drive sensibly until you know the difference in handling.
  12. Hi Dave Are you still involved with 645? Massive changes to the whole organisation I hear as I'm still in touch with Paul Watts who runs the simulators. The speedo was a challenge! It appeared to work on the bench but now it's still playing up in the car. The cable drive is ok but it is definitely sticking again. At the moment I'm using the bike speedo fitted 10 years ago which is still reliable. So- check the cable drive is ok by disconnecting it from the back of the speedo and get a passenger to try to stop the cable spinning. Drive slowly though otherwise it will hurt and you will crash! The angle drive from the gearbox can wear and cause a problem resulting in a jumpy drive. There is a short bit of square drive that can wear. If it is the actual speedo then you have to get the front glass off by carefully pealing back the brass ring. To be honest it's a total pain in the butt and it may be you have to send it away and bite the bullet like I might. I'm still a tight yorkshireman that doesn't like being beaten by a machine so I'm going to have another go first. cheers Andy D
  13. Not experienced the 2 you have mentioned. Motoscope at Northallerton mention Emerald programming on their web site. Regards Andy D
  14. Hi Nick I will message you to give my private mail but I may have sorted this. I have had it in bits, broke the glass in the process but the local glazier is making me a new one. I think it's working and had it on a drill and managed 160 mph with no problem! message on the way. cheers
  15. Hi Jonathan Yes you are right. It's been repaired and recalibrated before and has never been very good. It's got 65K miles as well. Speedy Cable have quoted £110 plus vat, plus packaging which makes it debatable if it's beyond economic repair. I tend to watch my bike speedo for accurate speed it's that bad. Cheers
  16. My 1996 vintage speedo won't go faster than 60 mph (which might be an advantage if stopped by the boys in blue!) I've tried it off the car with a battery drill and it's the unit it's self. Anyone got a similar speedo stored away that they may wish to sell? I'm looking for a Caterham branded unit which is mechanical drive but, if you have a later model which is electronic then I would be interested. It would be nice to have an accurate speedo for a change. Regards Andy D
  17. Hi Steve I have sent you a private message cheers Andy Doughty
  18. Hi Julian A friend of mine is looking for a car so can you send me your phone number so I can pass it on. cheers Andy Doughty
  19. The gritting /salting is one of the biggest problems running in the North of England through winter. It really does get the rust and corrosion going. I've stopped running through winter now as I got hacked off trying to make sure it was all cleaned properly before being put away. Probably doesn't help with my car being bare alloy and no powder coating on the inner surfaces. I must say it is nice to go out on a nice crisp winters day though. Enjoy!
  20. Hi Russ Got the details and will pass them on. Cheers Andy D
  21. Mail sent ref contact details Cheers Andy Doughty
  22. Hi There should be a water tap on the water hose going into the heater unit. This is normally operated by a cable that runs into the cockpit. This turns off the hot water allowing the fan to blow " cold air" through the system. it helps but not by much!
  23. Welcome Rich I'm just down the road from you in Dunnington, the East side of York. I did my build 20 years ago so I have gathered a good tool kit and reasonable knowledge so give me a shout if you need help or any kit. Cheers Andy Doughty
  24. Hi That was Mrs D and me. Not been to Goathland but just general run around from York to Helmsley then Stokesley and across to the coast for fuel. Too much traffic over the moors from Whitby( should have known better) Got quite cold as well, roll on summer! Cheers
